Infantry...No When politicians gather in air conditioned rooms protected by miles of ocean, and a couple feet of concrete, to send our sons and daughters to police third world countries with first century customs we must remember...A man is forbidden to waterboard a women. Any women accused of being waterboarded by a man...Will be stoned. Post
u May 12 seedtick v Definitely not Let's qualify my vote. I can see women flying planes in combat. I can see women on electronic and communications equipment in combat. I can see women filling artillery and tank roles in combat. I can see women in supply jobs at the front lines. What I cannot see is putting women into boots on the ground front line or forward patrol and special ops roles. When I was in the USMC the jobs that required "humping mortars," hand to hand combat, forced marches carrying weapons and ammunition were the hard-assed jobs and I cannot see that role being opened up to women. I doubt you will find one in fifty women who can do it effectively. Post
u May 10 Big_jeff v Definitely not There are some things that men do that women shouldn't do There are some things women do that men shouldn't Despite what gays would have you believe there are striking differences between men and women I don't way to see women playing professional football either Post
o May 10 TheHandsomeOne v Definitely not Women should have their own military if they want to be in the military, period. Post
May 8 AndrewMC v Maybe Depends on the mission, but generally no. I can see them in support positions, but not in a line/combat unit. There may be a few who can cut it, physically, but not very many. Post

u May 1 rmancassman v Definitely not Only a decadent society would send women into combat. Besides even from a purely logistical standpoint it really makes no logical sense. The big push to include women in the combat occupations is largely driven to give a few women the advancement opportunities into the top echelon of leadership positions in the never ending desire to achieve "diversity." Though frightening enough lack of combat experience doesn't' seem to have negatively affected our current military leadership in the JSF, in that not one of those guys ever saw any combat as a junior officer, not one has a CIB. That all said I suppose as long as the primary enemy of the U.S. is largely made up of third... Post

May 3 harold_lloyd @NoAmnestyEVER Just using the term 'front lines' tells me something of how obsolete your thinking has become. Explain why there are all these female veterans with prosthetic limbs. Post @harold_lloyd

u May 18 callmecrazy Sometimes I wish we had a draft for that same reason. That would get some people off their butts and into the streets. I think the all volunteer army has caused a lot of indifference. We're cruising around in SUVs and drinking starbucks while we talk about who won american idol like its business as usual. Maybe if more people had a chance of being sent or of their child being sent then we'd end this crap. Sadly we've gotten very used to business as usual. Post @callmecrazy
Apr 28 gammler v Maybe I don't like the idea. If one has ever been in combat one wants to KNOW that the person next to him thinks the same way he does. I'm not convinced that women can be trained to do so. Post
u Apr 26 gherlone v Absolutely caveat: no accomodations. the job needs to be done, and to a certain level of performance. if any man or woman can't do the job, they don't belong there. Post
Apr 25 Bill2E v Absolutely If they want to go to war let them. So many don't want anything to do with the Military and sure don't want to be in combat. If they are able to do battle, let them do battle. Post
Apr 25 Concerned_Cit v Maybe Depends on the woman. I've seen many men that were no stronger than a woman, and some women that were twice the man of many men. Make the physical and intellectual requirements the same for both genders, and whoever makes the cut, makes it. G.I. Jane style. e1 endorsed Post
Feb '13 mrsituation v Absolutely In this world of "Political Correctness"... sure why not? If you wanna hold the bat, then you gotta be willing to step up to the plate! Post
Feb '13 Mike_Monacelli v Maybe This is only a good thing if females are forced to follow the same standards as men. The female PT tests are much easier than their male counterparts, which is fine for everything BUT combat jobs. This is a good step for women's rights, but it must be conducted in the proper manner to maintain combat effectiveness and cohesion in our units. Post
Jan '13 falco_alba v Absolutely With one stipulation - women must be able to meet the standard requirements that men meet. We cannot scale or curve it because that defeats the point. Equal standards or not at all. B3 r4 replies e66 endorsed Post
u Jan '13 commonsense51 v Definitely not Gee, why not have kids in combat. Is that the kind of military we want. The last I knew we do not have girls playing sports against boys for good reasons. Boys are stronger and faster for the most part and would most always beat the girl's team. So why on earth would we put women against men in war? Just another example of our nation being led down a politically correct road whereby all norms of society are thrown out. We will have men marrying men and women fighting in combat against other men. Feminists try to tell us women can do everything a man can do. No they can't! Men are built differently then women. We are different. Men can not have kids and women are not as... Jan '13 TDriver04 v Definitely not I think the men in combat zones have enough to worry about. It's in a mans nature to protect a women and while women can probably do the job I think it's a distraction just the same. B4 r1 reply e18 endorsed Post
Jan '13 AlexMIA v Maybe I think anyone honorable enough to want to serve their country should be allowed, man, or woman regardless of sexual orientation. But as far as combat is concerned all standards must be met. Not a single life or mission should be compromised because of a curve. Equal treatment for all! e17 endorsed Post
u Jan '13 libertarian43 v Maybe ONLY if they meet the SAME standards as the men- including physical standards. No women should be allowed if they can't keep up physically- it will only get them, and the men in their squad, killed. War isn't a social experiment. e13 endorsed Post
Jan '13 smith635 v Absolutely It's their right as an American to choose if and when they want to fight for their country. e12 endorsed Post

Jan '13 Granny_Grey v Absolutely Women make up approximately 51% of this countryâs population. There are women who are physically able to the join the combat roles and they are already doing so. Women are critical to the militaryâs mission and are needed to fill those roles. Let them serve! Yes, make it the same standards as the men. For the naysayers who say that they cannot do so and they are wrong. The real problem is gender discrimination. Not all men are able to perform combat and not all women will be either. Are we that gender stereotypical? For those that say, âThese are the same women that cannot protect themselves from rapists in their company.â Those rapists use their power unlawf... e7 endorsed Post
Jan '13 jessica v Definitely not As a female and a woman myself women in combat is not a good idea because we girls just do not have the upper body strength as a man does men are 10 times stronger than women and men are a tougher breed as well even thou some women they can carry their weight pretty well and some women are brutal but not all women are like this I am not a phsysically strong woman and my feelings get in the way and my emotions get the best of me r1 reply e7 endorsed Post
u Jan '13 Raptor v Definitely not While they do an excellent job in the support role they do not have the physical qualifications or the right mind set to engage in all aspects of combat in a war zone. B1 r1 reply e3 endorsed Post
