It matters in the sense that if that attack had been prompted by the short, independently produced video on Muhammad, the Administration had an 'out' on not being prepared for the destruction of the Consulate and the murder of 4 Americans, given the relatively brief period of time between the video going 'viral' and the attack. I'm curious as to why there was no outcry at any of the 53 attacks on diplomatic missions or the 13 people killed in those attacks, all of which happened on Bush43s watch? There were three hearings about those, compared to nine so far over Benghazi. What responsibility does congress have for cutting the security budget for state dept security? Why would a number of republicans rather talk about Benghazi than actually help govern the nation?

The single most abhorent thing though was how Candy Crowley was prepped to be able to show that Obama (ptivately) said it was terrorism, sort of. It's still a terrorist attack regardless. It's still America's fault these people were radicalized, whether it was a video one person made because of religious bigotry, or blowback from our purposeless wars with Islamic countries. The latter actually leaves us more at fault. Every action made has consequences. No matter what way you look at it, those four people's lives are consequences of our actions.

Tragic loss of life, hatred from Muslim extremists, Stevens should not have gone to the Benghazi outpost knowing it was a hotbed of Muslim hatred toward the U.S., he should have stayed in Tripoli, the State Dept. should have beefed up his security, but NO ONE in the Obama administration or the State Dept. did anything to deliberately put these people at risk, and they are far from the only ones killed in this manner while serving their country. While attacks like this are nothing new, we should always seek to improve our processes and make it more difficult for the enemy to pull of a secuessful attack like this one.

Not only does the genesis of the attack matter, so does the misinformation, the security arrangements, the defense of the compound, the alleged arms dealings, and the apparent cover up.
