u Mon KentuckyJim v Yes, absolutely They shouldn't, but they are here and we have allowed them to be here. The problem is not them, it is us. Rather than spend countless dollars deporting them again and I again I would support giving the illegal immigrants a path to citizenship if it included a tax on them or a long term citizenship fee paid by them that would be used to put the infrastructure in place to prevent further illegals from entering this country. As long as people can flow freely through our borders it is a massive waste to deport them. As long as they are living and working in this country they should be taxed like the rest of us, but you can't have taxation without representation, so there's... Post
Mon Mark_Hinkle v Yes, absolutely If you want to keep immigrations APART from the Western Culture that makes the United States the best country on earth, by all means stop immigrants from becoming citizens and by all means attempt to close the borders and by all means throw out the 10-20 immigrants who are here "illegally". But if you think the Western Culture is of value and that it IS the best culture on earth, then invite them to become part of that culture. Invite them into the United States and by all means legalize the 10-20 million immigrants so they can be part, as opposed to apart, from our culture. May 19 RichardLefevre v Yes, absolutely It is interesting that most of those that have voted in this poll have chose that 11 million illegal immigrants should not be offered a path to citizenship? The reasons this is brought up is because this potential tax revenue stream and potential economic revenue stream are financial boosters that should not be thrown to the side. In fact, it would cost a lot of money and time to locate, house, and deport these 11 million people and, the reputation of our country as a welcomer of people would certainly be compromised. Finally, deporting 11 million people inherits a lack of humanity; the same humanity and open arms that welcomed many of our own ancestors when our fam... Post

May 18 kylevk v Yes, absolutely A truly free society would allow the free movement of people from place to place, even across national borders. Though they may have come here illegally, they did so out of hope for a better life through economic opportunity and hard work, not to live off government handouts. Not only do immigrants work for less, they take the jobs no one else wants, and serve as a backbone of the economy. We should welcome immigrants with open arms, they made this nation the most successful and powerful on Earth through perseverance and hard work in the free market economy we used to have. To penalize those who only wish to improve their lives by coming to a more prosperous land is ... r1 reply Post

u May 17 bat62 v I have mixed feelings They already have a "path to citizenship"; they just choose to ignore it. Therefore, they should be sent back where they came from. B1 Post
u May 17 HKL1256 v I have mixed feelings Give those with kids born here path to citizenship. The rest who turn selves in put on list for same. Then anyone who has employees without documentation fined $100,000 per each they don't turn in. SECURE border. Post

u May 17 BossTweed Now that all of the current Big Govt scandals confirm that we can't TRUST Big Brother it will be hard to convince the American people that anything will be done to stop the flood of benefit and service starved foreigners from flowing into the Country without any right to be here. We may just surrender to the dramatically devalued future our children will face as over burdned tax slaves who will be forced to support of the never ending hoards of Third World invaders. What a miserable time to be a caring American parent! B1 Post @BossTweed

Jan '13 PNWest v Yes, absolutely Common sense says that there in no way we are going to round up all of the illegals and deport them. They are not going to "self-deport" either. Find a way to make them legal and we will make them part of the system paying taxes and helping to build a better America. B7 r29 replies e87 endorsed Post
Jan '13 Neo_NtheMatrix v No, certainly not When is America not America anymore? When we let those who have come here illegally become the majority voting citizen. Say no to illegal immigration. Go home, wait in line, do it the right way. Immigration is a proud part of our heritage and culture, but breaking the law and coming here illegally is not the way to to go about it. Jan '13 ACTSmom v I have mixed feelings I really have mixed feelings about the kids who had no choice in the matter...it's their parents I have a problem with. At any rate, none of these ILLEGALS should be made LEGAL until all of those on the waiting list, doing things legally, are given priority and enter the USA. Until then, no illegal should be given anything. Then as some others have said, secure the border...make employers verify legality, amend the anchor baby law, deport anyone involved in illegal activity after serving time after conviction. And I could list more caveats, but the main point is getting those who've applied in FIRST. B3 e33 endorsed Post
Jan '13 puppybrownie v No, certainly not No, and we need to end the Anchor Baby Program also! Sneaking into the country to give birth has become a travel industry from many other countries . B7 r6 replies e23 endorsed Post
Jan '13 DARSB v Yes, absolutely I generally avoid George Will, but his point on this is well taken: Americans simply will not tolerate the degree of intrusive police activity that would be required to find and deport 11 million people, many of whom have been in this country for years or decades. Further, many of these illegal aliens have had children born here, making them citizens. What do you do with a couple of million kids whose parents have been sent out of country? u Jan '13 CaryNickel v No, certainly not They already have a path to citizenship. It's called : Get out and get in line like everyone else. Maybe our immigration system is broken, but another amnesty without fundamental reform will solve nothing. In order to appreciate our nation, immigrants must earn citizenship, and in order to have the drive to earn it, they must really want it. Streamline the process, make it quicker, sure. But amnesty for those who have already broken the law? No. r1 reply e15 endorsed Post
Jan '13 Thunderchicken v I have mixed feelings Not until after the borders are secured. Then anchor babies need to be addressed. And illegals who have been involved in any other criminal activity are dealt with. (Put in a data base and deported or exicuted. If the deported ones return, they should be exicuted.) After these are done, then it will be time to deal with whomever is left. e11 endorsed Post
