Superbowl commercials are often watched with as much enthusiasm as the football. But here's the story of an ad you won't see during Sunday's game.
CBS rejected an ad from SodaStream, a company that sells bottle-less soda-making machines for home use, that took aim at the environmental impact of plastic bottles used by Coke and Pepsi, two major sponsors of the Superbowl, news reports say.
The ad, named 'Game Changer,' shows Coke and Pepsi bottles exploding into thin air as a narrator says, "With SodaStream, we could have saved 500 million bottles on game day alone."
"We get that Coke and Pepsi spend billions verses SodaStream's millions but that's a hard decision to rationalize," Alex Bogusky, creator of the SodaStream ad, told Forbes. "Especially when there is such a huge environmental advantage to the SodaStream model."
You can watch the rejected Sodastream ad in the video below. A different version of the ad that doesn't mention Coke and Pepsi will appear during the game, the Atlantic Wire reports.
