May 20 mikev9359 v Yes Because of the banking bailouts, or as I refer to it, rewarding the crooks for pillaging the population of their savings and their homes, I know no one who has not delayed their retirement. Post
May 10 JTHEM v I'm not sure yet This is yes and no. I need Medicare but need a job as well to pay for the extra insurance necessary to be medically covered. This is a cruel joke. Post
May 10 Aftermath v Yes Yes I will delay it. But only because I like to eat, and live inside a house. Certainly not because anything in the government did any good for anyone toward retirement. In fact the Coward Bill Clinton saw to it no one can retire with his NAFTA crap. Post

u May 3 IMAQT v No I am in a fortunate position in that I can retire in my mid 50's and I will. I have my own business and could continue to work if I felt it was worth the cost. However I currently pay close to 50% of income in just income taxes and SS. I am tired of this "partnership" with the government that takes half of my income and spends it on such frivolous things. And then there are the other citizens that insist I am not paying my "fair share", when half the country pays no income taxes. I will retire by years end and will do all I can to keep future income tax bills to a minimum. It is time for others to start carrying the load as I have done for the last 35 years. I ... Post
May 2 oldman75 v No I retired at age 70 after 50 years of government service . The only reason i retired then was because of colon cancer -still here 5 years later . Post
u Apr 29 treedcat25 v I'm not sure yet I'm still navigating college; that's a bit too far ahead to plan for. Post
u Apr 29 DaQuietOne v No I am on the path of thinking the economy will not allow those of my generation to delay our retirement. there are already reports of companies not hiring due to age, which is discriminatory and should not be allowed by law. Post
Apr 25 mudpike v I'm not sure yet That's what BO & his welfare beggar & illegal alien (NOT UNDOCUMENTED IMMIIGRANTS) Lib-Socialists are hoping for . How do they expect to cater to & create their huge voter base of human maggots that feed off the Taxpayers & their Sacrifices? They know their parasites are worthless & expect to beat us mules(working-class) who pull the hardest to work until you die . These Socio-Lib-Elitists actually believe their media fed egos are real . Although Socialism has failed EVERYWHERE it's been tried - they see no problem with their 'new-age slavery system' that deprives American workers of taking more money home to benefit their own families instead of some illega... Feb '13 methinks v No I made some good choices with investments over the years that are doing well enough. Plus, we each have 401k's, and IRA's. I'm fairly diversified. B1 e8 endorsed Post
Feb '13 texas_cutie75 v I'm not sure yet I have never had a set retirement date in mind. I have goals set that need to be met before I can retire, but I am nowhere near achieving the majority of those goals. e7 endorsed Post

Feb '13 stepped_in_it v Yes I could get on here and bash the democrats, republicans and/or the magic beans in my bean soup. But, that's not why. I've decided to work, at least P/T after I (semi) retire because I physically still can....and as long as I have a little leeway in my employment! e4 endorsed Post
Feb '13 MarkJM v Yes Delay? I never planned on retiring. All the money I'm throwing away towards Social Security of which I'll never see a dime of again. I am putting away in a 401k and have two Roth IRAs. I think responsible folks like myself should be exempt from having to pay Social Security if it can be proven that I'm putting into 401Ks and IRAs. Maybe I'll hit the age and by then I should have a sizable amount of income put away. Like I said, I expect no return on Social Security. By the time it comes for me to "retire", those funds will be all used up. r3 replies e3 endorsed Post
Feb '13 Drake_Burrwood v Yes What retirement, you mean stop working before they bury me I doubt it unless my arthritis cripples me. B1 e2 endorsed Post
Feb '13 Tralee v Yes Not me, I "retired" 30 some years ago, but hubby will continue to work for at least 5 more years, first because at 65 he's way too young to just retire and play golf 24/7, he's got, hopefully 20 or more years ahead of him, and secondly, financially, we are fine but with all these new taxes our investment income will suffer. We might as well stock up a bit on cash to meet the increasing expenses we will face. The taxes on capital gains are hurting our retired seniors now, that is the money they invested so they would have a comfortable retirement, now they are taxed higher than ever and that coupled with the sheer higher cost of just feeding themselves and gas has put a...
