This likely won't go over well with folks who dislike both, but it appears a fondness for porn goes hand in, er, hand with support for gay marriage.
A new study has found that straight men who consume pornography are more likely to accept gay marriage (and not just of the girl-girl variety). Why? Because, the theory goes, porn opens the mind to accepting atypical sexual situations,
reports The Washington Examiner's Paul Bedard.
The study, which is unfortunately unavailable to the lay reader, looked at recent social science data on straight men and concluded that "the more heterosexual men, especially less educated heterosexual men, watch pornography, the more supportive they become of same-sex marriage."
"Pornography adopts an individualistic, nonjudgmental stance on all kinds of nontraditional sexual behaviors," says study co-author Paul Wright of Indiana University, "and same-sex marriage attitudes are strongly linked to attitudes about same-sex
sex."
