Chris Christie's
light-hearted approach to his weight could be bad news for his health – and his presidential prospects,
claims one former White House doctor.
"I'm worried he may have a heart attack," said physician Connie Mariano, who helped Bill Clinton battle the bulge during his time in office, and who now worries that Christie could be headed for serious health complications in the near future. "I'm worried about this man dying in office."
Mariano cites sleep apnea, heart disease and diabetes as problems that could arise one day for the New Jersey governor. Christie's munching on a donut in a recent appearance on the
David Letterman Show is evidence of a cavalier attitude regarding his health, claims Mariano. "It's almost a like a time bomb waiting to happen unless he addresses those issues before running for office."
"I'm a physician more than I'm a Democrat or Republican," said the M.D. "I want him to run: I just want him to lose weight."
