u Mon fwb35 v No, they shouldn't As most have said, it is our history, I am proud my family fought for their country, the CSA. Those that think it was about slavery, you are dead wrong. If it was why did Lincoln wait almost 2 years after taking office to put out the Emacipation Proclomation, and when he did it only freed the slaves in the CSA where he had no power to do so. Our children are not being taught the truth about their own countries history, if the truth were known about Lincoln and how he felt about blacks all of his monuments would be taken down, but in this country we have to be politically correct and lie about our history, so sad..... Jun 6 ccchhhrrriiiss v No, they shouldn't "Honoring the confederacy" would be akin to honoring a former threat to the security of this union. There is nothing wrong with commemorating or acknowledging that time and conflict. However, we aren't supposed to honor it. The flag of the confederacy is no more viable than a citizen of the U.S. -- regardless of one's race or ethnicity -- flying the flag of a foreign country that we fought or have a conflict with as a sign of honor. u Jun 6 IMAQT v I have mixed feelings It should be up to the taxpayers that are financing the parks to make that decision. Freedom is a wonderful thing. Post
Jun 4 busseja v No, they shouldn't how can anyone vote yes on this. Should Auschwitz be renamed jewtown? History is history. Post

u May 23 sherrigibson59 v No, they shouldn't this is a part of American heritage and should not be changed or eliminated. Post
u May 22 bajo v I have mixed feelings Yes, depending on who and when it was named to honor the Confedaray....ie... If it was named in 1965...yes, rename it. If it was named in 1865, leave it alone Post

May '13 Nautilus Which confederate concept do you hate: Iroquois Confederacy, Western Confederacy, Powhatan Confederacy, Seven Nations of Canada, Pontiac's Confederacy, Illinois Confederation, Tecumseh's Confederacy, Great Sioux Nation, Blackfoot Confederacy, Iron Confederacy, and Council of Three Fires. @Nautilus Post
May '13 JesusLivesInMe v No, they shouldn't How sad that this is even a question. Why should something from history be changed just because a person(s) doesn't like it or agree with it? What's next, atheists wanting every "Church street" in America changed simply because of it's name?? LOL Post
May '13 Glich v No, they shouldn't Who comes up with these BS distractions ? America has 11 Million unemployed legal citizens. President Obama wants to use $6 Trillion tax dollars to help guide illegals into the voting booth. Post

Feb '13 Woody20164 v No, they shouldn't First, the question is loaded. These parks don't necessarily "honor" the Confederacy, rather, they commemorate it. It is important that we remember. It is sad but true that most often, history is written by the winners. Despite being on the losing end of the war (and regardless of the particular issue), the confederacy fought for what they considered important principles of the constitution, States' rights without oppressive Federal involvement. Too bad more states don't feel that way now. B4 r2 replies e25 endorsed Post

u Feb '13 commonsense51 v No, they shouldn't Do Liberal Democrats have a clue? Their Obama is trying to stir up enough hate between Americans to start another Civil war. He is the antithesis of what America is all about. Freedom, the freedom to disagree, the intelligence to come to the middle to run a nation when our nation is populated by immigrants from around the world and a nation where over 80% call themselves Christian(our heritage). He is an ideolog with one goal. Socialism one step at a time, growing Government, controlling our very minds with the arrogance of political correctness. He took the biggest power grab in our nation's history with Obamacare. He lied constantly that his bill would reduce healthc... B3 r13 replies e9 endorsed Post

Feb '13 alisha4san v No, they shouldn't No its part of history. All of history is not pretty but it happened. Im black but I dont believe in covering up or rewriting what already is. B3 e7 endorsed Post
Feb '13 PNWest v Yes, they should The Confederacy was responsible for the deaths of at least 620,000 Americans. Their main issue was supporting slavery. To quote Confederate States Vice President Alexander Stephens, "the cornerstone of the new government rests upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slaveryâsubordination to the superior raceâis his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth". To name public parks after confederate heroes is wrong. Feb '13 Hillbillyhunny What about racisim against whites? Thats all you see and hear these days!! If we all spoke up as OTHERS i.e BLACKS when offened by being constanly reminded of the stuff our ancestors did or what we had no control of, it may change. Furthermore we (whites) were slaves first read your history books and get back with me beter yet read your Bible and get back with me. Im sick of hearing poor poor black man. Moreover, where is our WHITE history month? B8 @Hillbillyhunny Post
Feb '13 DrFunkenstein v I have mixed feelings Depends on the person. You can't blame soldiers for being soldiers but you can blame TRAITORS against the Constitution that committed treason against the United States. I do not support any of these parks memorializing any individuals other than the soldiers forced to fight the war. The rich men that started it have no right to be remembered other than being referred to as traitors. B1 r3 replies e5 endorsed Post
u Feb '13 fancy1 @Hillbillyhunny I agree with you 100%! I don't own slaves, my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents did not own slaves. But we are having it thrown up in our face constantly. Blacks can say and get away with anything against whites but you let a white person stand up for themselves and you get stupid remarks like the ones above. If you live in the south, the blacks act totally different than the ones up north. B5 @fancy1 Post
