15 hr MadAmerican v Yes, it would I already have guns in every room, loaded and ready and carry one in my truck. I am currently having a sign made for my driveway that will read "This is not a gun free zone, and 911 is not on my speed dial!" Post
Mon justapirate v Yes, it would It's a no brainer. A weapon in hand is far more effective than a phone in the hand (if you had the opportunity to get the phone in your hand ). Post
Jun 14 Aftermath v Yes, it would If you think one gun feels safe, you need about 30 and a few ten thousand rounds of ammo. In case some buddy runs out, but I doubt it as they generally have more than me. Anyway.... Safe, safe, safe!!!!! Sleep like a baby. Post
o Jun 6 Goose v Yes, it would To whoever wrote this stupid poll question - Put a sign in your front yard announcing: "This Home is a Gun Free Zone." Let us know how that works out for you. Post

May 30 Jack-Black v Yes, it would Since I have a 20 gauge shotgun in my closet and 9mm in my bedside table I can speak from experience. I feel safer because I am safer. Post
May 25 Clara007 v No, I would feel less safe I think that like alcohol, guns are addictive, and like any addiction if not controlled, it brings misery to both the addict and those around them. This odd American addiction has spiraled out of control and the major reason people own guns is not to feel safe, or to hunt down their dinner, but to feel a little more powerful in a world that is good at making us feel powerless. On a personal note: Although we've had guns and hunters in our family I feel much safer now that we no longer have guns. r1 reply Post
Jun 12 Canoochee Help me out here. You sound like someone knowledgeable on the subject. What is it about guns that makes them addictive? @Canoochee Post
May 25 Nikoigorevich v I would feel somewhat safer Here are the reasons I don't see gun control working so well http://bit.ly/13UanUV Post
May 21 mikev9359 v Yes, it would I feel MUCH safer knowing that I do not have to fumble for a phone and pray the cops arrive in time before a criminal harms anyone in my family. It's such a comfort knowing that I can grab my gun and end the situation in the time it takes to get to my phone, dial 911, explain in a hushed voice what is happening. Post
Feb '13 WVMountYouNear v Yes, it would It doesn't make me "feel" safer... It makes me safer. To be successful, you ALWAYS need the proper tool for the job.~ And let's not forget, guns are not JUST for hunting and home defense. It was said long ago that any society not willing to FIGHT for freedom, doesn't deserve it. Well? How many would be willing to fight today? ~ I tire of this simple-minded, liberal BS promoting cowardice by telling people to dis-arm themselves and let someone else take up their own battles. u Feb '13 seedtick v Yes, it would Yes I do feel safer with a gun in my rural home. Law enforcement may take as long as 20 minutes to arrive if I call 911. Two things the rural folks I know sleep close to are their gun and their cell phone. They will first arm themselves, second call 911, third call their neighbors. Unlike most city folks, country folks will come to the aid of a neighbor. B1 e16 endorsed Post
Feb '13 jessejaymes v Yes, it would Well let's recap shall we? Out of nowhere someone kicks my front door. With a shotgun at hand I chamber a shell and point it at the door. If the door comes down, a body appears the gun goes off. Now conversely, I'm at the computer and someone starts kicking on the door and I have no gun I am left with "please mr wolf don't huff and puff and blow my house down". I'm going with the former. Feb '13 Mr_GO_HERD v I would feel somewhat safer Where is the option that I don't live in fear? I don't own a gun nor do I feel I need one. I know many gun lovers feel differently and think they need one to feel safe but I refuse to live my life in paranoia. I'm not against guns either. e7 endorsed Post
u Feb '13 Slowmo v Yes, it would It's not necessarily about the gun making me "feel safer". It's simply smarter to have one and not need it than to need it and not have one. But that's only part of it. There's also the whole part about it being my (and everyone else's) constitutional right. And, unlike some folks, I don't arrogantly think that I'm so smart that I can edit the legislation that the United States of America is based on. I'm not so arrogant that I view our founding fathers (you know, some of the brightest philosophical and political minds in history) are a bunch of old fashioned rednecks. If you think the idea of tyranny is outdated, just type it in and start reading. It is indeed alive a... B3 e4 endorsed Post
u Feb '13 Litdes v No, I would feel less safe Statistically, you are almost twice as likely to die by your own hand with a firearm than to be murdered by one. http://www.bostonglobe.com/ideas/2013/01/20/the-gun-toll-ignoring-suicide/xeWBHDHEvvagfkRlU3CfZJ/story.html B2 r10 replies e4 endorsed Post
u Feb '13 awbaldridge v I would feel somewhat safer I do want to own a gun one day for protection. I'll probably buy it, learn how to use it properly, then put it away and never take it out again except for routine maintenance. So I would be purchasing it for self-defense and safety. Nothing crazy, just a small handgun with a lower capacity clip. But I also realize that owning a gun comes with a level of risk in itself. (Accidental discharges, misfirings, having it used against me in the event of an intrusion or invasion, etc.) r1 reply e4 endorsed Post
