It is long been known that Styrofoam is not recyclable. there are alternatives. These need to go away. I seldom support Bloomberg. I do this time.

You see pokes want you allow these fruit cakes to go crazy they will never stop banning things. by the same token when they start taking things away from you they will take anything they want.. after guns it might be your 401 K's for the public good.. the time to stop these communist pricks right now is
  • !
Yeah I wonder how long Bloomberg new that the City teachers union has been making tens of millions of dollars of the gun industry...¿ see when we talk about the hypocrisy of the left that we mean
  • !
I guess living with rotting food in containers that are not recyclable is normal for right wing zealots. A wonderful legacy to leave for your progeny

Weren't you chastizing me just yesterday on another thread for expressing surprize republicans could like environment? Your comment here is the reason why...

So sad you chose to pollute both your own and future generations to a life of filth. A cardboard container is too liberal for you taste??
I live on the ocean and daily the tides wash styrofoam particles ashore, the visual effect is offensive and I wonder the effect on the estuary.'tis so pathetic and quite frankly tragic, to view the reaction to this subject and total lack of concern for the future displayed here by apparently very low info conservative zealots
  • !
You said can't be serious. There is no leap to conclude you disapprove of Bloomberg's actions You disapproval of actual pollution that washes up on my front yard daily that justifies my conclusion + its drawn based on your total lack of environmental concerns as you've repeatedly voiced here. If I'm wrong please point out the Tea Party environmental agenda LMAO

Then let's bring back glass bottles and paper bags. Both of those items are natural and can be replenished but some nut jobs like Bloomberg felt the need to get rid of those items in favor of these new items just a few decades ago. The insanity of Dictator Bloomberg will confound mental health professional for centuries to come.

NYC should Call for insertion of bloomberg into a Plastic Foam Container,or whatever is fashionable for fascist nut jobs, anyplace but an city or state government office

I agree. Styrophone is the worst thing to use. That is if people know anything about Styrophone. I mean, plastic bottles are better because you can recycle.

@Malitia_Man None is correct. Either statement you chose would of ment that if the US was a communist or an authoritarian governement, why would they put up a ban?

In China, the chinese governement does forced evictions. They dont care about ur rights and they compensate you extremely little. If they want you out of there, they will go in there by force and force you out of there.

The US ain't that if they are passing bills. You think an authoritative governement cares about bills?

    @Starsplash

    Communism statist congressional manipulation 101:

Convince the incompetent sheep to vote you in, and pass unconstitutional law until someone notices!!!

    Final thought:
If you want an authoritarian Nanny-State/Police-State system to tell you what you can and can't do, then do us all a favor and move to N. Korea!!! Or China...

Boy, there sure are some knee-jerkin', gum-flappin' dingdongs saying some asinine nonsensical things on this thread.

Bloomberg actually has a good idea here, all of you that are spouting BS to the contrary need to go live in a landfill, as thats what the entire planet is going to be if we dont ban stuff like styrofoam.
  • !
@PoliticalSpice Lol, thats true, but it really annoys me that a good idea for the planet is shot down because of where it comes from.

When does this man leave office? Seriously? I had the world's bossiet, nosiest, mother in law and Bloomberg makes her look almost like the saint she thought she was.
  • !
Of all the things Bloomberg has called for, this is the only one I agree with. The smoking ban was ridiculous; nothing but a cash grab for the city. The soda ban was unneeded; if people actually want a drink that size, they deserve whatever health problems could possibly come along with it. And the trans-fat ban, really? I mean, how on Earth did NYCers agree to being told what they can and can't eat?

But this...this actually makes sense. I get that the containers conserve heat or cold, but another, more environmentally-friendly, way can be found.

Alternatives are already available but expensive. Five years ago the coffee shop I was a barrista at used them. Most were made from corn, but if you got a super and it was hot the cup only held without leaking for about an hour.

When can we ban petty, authoritarian douchebags and political opportunists?
This city has some of the worst politicians, second only to DC and Boston
  • !
In the information age we currently live in, would it not be better to encourage the use of bio- degradable containers rather than use the bully pulpit of an elected office?
  • !
Seems sort of moronic to be worried about plastic foam containers when we deposit nuclear/radioactive waste into the ground in places like WIPP on a regular basis. I'm more worried about THAT than I am about plastic foam containers. Mike "The Nanny" Bloomberg needs MORE FIBER in his diet.
