u May 18 sml11 v No Not at this time, all branches of the military are turning away applicants as it is from what I have read. Post
u May 9 Gatnos v Yes Actually, the draft has never gone away. Registration for the draft is still required. People will be called up, if we go to war. Post
u May 6 URBS v Yes I served during the Draft years and we had a much better force that better represented the Country. Post
u May 4 fraps v I'm not sure The only reason we should have a draft is because we are engaged in a war declared by congress that requires significantly more troops than are volunteering. Given the technology available today registering for the draft would be simple. Operation of the Draft Board would be mostly automated. Since there is a quick and easy solution if the problem exists, wait till it is needed. Post
u May 4 BossTweed v Yes Of course, either EVERY American child should be asked to serve or NONE of them should be required to serve. Post
May 3 Prime_Meridian v Yes Yes, and especially targeting those who would seek elected and/or decision-making office one day. They need to see what it's like before they get all hot and bothered to send our men and women overseas in harm's way. Everyone serves. If you have a problem with the military, then go into the Peace Corps, or if they have domestic programs in the style of Vista, then have them give at least two (2) years service there. Post
May 3 NoAmnestyEVER v No The draft is TOTALLY unconstitutional. In a free nation nobody should be FORCED TO KILL on behalf of the U.S. government and corporations that start these ILLEGAL WARS. Post

May 1 jeffreyknee v Yes It's only fair, plus war and military aren't nearly as deadly as old days. Post
Apr 27 LonePalm v No Today's military is far different from even the Vietnam era. We don't need or want masses of conscripts. It is now quality over quantity. Today's corporals and sergeants could easily have been officers in WWII. Man for man today's US military is the most capable and lethal fighting force in history and that is without nukes. Post
Apr 27 skeptic v No Not only do we pay taxes to fund conflicts that usually only benefit a few, we'd have to give our lives? No thank you. r1 reply Post
o May 1 TheHandsomeOne The question DC is wanting answered is.... do you want to pay that debt by serving in the Military or a Civilian National Security Force? Post @TheHandsomeOne
Apr 25 Bill2E v Yes I really think young men and women should serve in the military for at least two years. It is a small price to pay for the freedoms we enjoy. It also gives an individual many tools they will need in the future. The benefits are college education, medical benefits and much much more. Post
u Mar '13 Informedperson v No I won't fight for anything other than any and everyone's right to do as they please as long as they don't infringe on anyone else's rights. r1 reply Post
Apr 25 Bill2E Then you have not EARNED your freedom, you are reaping the benefits of others that did serve and fought so you can make such ludicrous statements. Post @Bill2E
Mar '13 GeorgiaSean7 v No First of all, our government can't afford anymore soldiers at the moment. Also, wouldn't our country best be served by those who volunteer to fight? Being a soldier is noble and takes a lot of strength that some people do not possess. B1 Post
Mar '13 oldman75 v Yes The draft is needed to keep the armed forces representing all segments of society. Now,unless it's a family occupation, the only people enlisting ,by and large, are those who can't find private employment .Just look at the pass/fail rate on armed forces tests .We need some rich kids in there too so their parents can lobby congress when things get out of hand . I don't think Bush's crusade in Iraq would have passed if congressmen's kids had to go there . Post
Mar '13 whatheheck v Yes Absolutely! And not just for males, either. Everyone should have to serve in some way, shape, or form. If you can't make it in the military, you should have to serve in some other way, such as on the civilian side of military services. There's always a job someone can do somewhere. No free rides and no excuse not to serve. And military service should be required for anyone running for political office at any level. They might be a bit less likely to pull the trigger to start a war knowing what the toll to our people would be. Post
Feb '13 Wait-----what v No Unless the draft were simply for liberals and liberal supporters. I would support it then and only then. That way we could have the gayest military in the world.....they could redesign the standard camo BDU's and make them into rainbow BDU's. Then they could go to other countries and ask the opposing military if the need new curtains...er..."window treatments" in their barracks. Then they could all sit around together and talk about shoes....and......about how hot Channing Tatum is. Post
u Feb '13 tavita v Yes All children of elected federal officials should be subject to mandatory military service...then perhaps mommy or daddy would think a bit deeper before voting for war. Post
Feb '13 Ghost116 v No No one fights harder than a volunteer. 10 volunteers are worth 100 conscripts. You only allow in those that want to be in, that way you have the best of the best. B1 e32 endorsed Post
Feb '13 harold_lloyd v Yes The military is becoming a separate class. In most cases, that turns out to be a Bad Thing. We need for more people to have shared the experience of military service. Way too few of our legislators are veterans, and they are unable to really grasp the debate with regard to defense and waging war. r4 replies e22 endorsed Post
Feb '13 Fishbone345 v No When Washington DC isn't sending our boys to every corner of the world to be shot at in brush wars we don't belong in, then I will offer up my sons. Till that day, Hell no! B1 e14 endorsed Post
Feb '13 Heavy-Fed v No Not no, but HELL NO!!! We don't need our youth FORCED to fight the wars of the banker elite!! e9 endorsed Post
Feb '13 MnMking2797 v No Pretty sure we don't need to draft people into the army when we are pulling soldiers out of combat. e7 endorsed Post
Feb '13 jmiller94 v No The greatest threat to America at the moment is domestic. That threat also happens to be commander and chief, so what good would a draft do? B1 e5 endorsed Post
Feb '13 JoeJared v No Don't you think we should have an honest war for honest reasons before expecting the population to be forced into a war they would have nothing to do with otherwise? e5 endorsed Post
Feb '13 bsking v Yes Absolutely. in fact since now we do most things because most other countries do them... most other countries require military service. .... somehow I think this is one practice that the left will want to avoid emulating from our good socialist democratic republics . e5 endorsed Post
Feb '13 AlexMIA v No No, we already have enough red blooded Americans willing to voluntarily fight for our country. There is no need to compromise them by bringing in people that don't want to be there, or creating a new hippie erra either. e3 endorsed Post
Feb '13 martydotcom v Yes When it's your son or daughter being sent to war you tend to question is his/her life being risked for a worthwhile cause ( now where did Saddam hide those. WMD's. I bet Ted Cruz R-Tx never served, Dick Cheney (R-5 deferments) Lindsey Graham ( R- in closet never served) or John Mc Cain (R who has lost his mind & legacy). can tell us where to look. e3 endorsed Post
