Dr. Ben Carson, the neurosurgeon who surprised folks with his critical and decidedly conservative
remarks at this year's National Prayer Breakfast, won't rule out a bid for political office one day. Especially seeing as how some, like the folks at the
Wall Street Journal,
believe him fit for the presidency too.
"The Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon may not be politically correct," reads the piece bluntly entitled "Ben Carson for President," "but he's closer to correct than we've heard in years."
"There are a number of policies that I don't believe lead to the growth of our nation and don't lead to the elevation of our nation," Carson
told ABC News Sunday. As for the outcome to his political ambitions, which he confessed to harboring, well that's something he'd "leave up to God."
As
Real Clear Politics details, Carson's biography makes the perfect pauper-to-prince back story for a potential GOP presidential candidate:
Ben Carson was reared in inner-city Detroit by a mother who made time to parent despite working 18-hour days. The books his mom made him read eventually sparked a love of learning in young Ben. He's among America's 20 foremost physicians and scientists, according to CNN; a "living legend," according to the Library of Congress.
