Thu Brandon101 v Franklin Delano Roosevelt FDR for the reasons better explained already. Someone tell nuts like clair that RReagan increased the size of government, raised taxes 17 times to a higher tax burden leaving office than when he got in, increased the federal deficit and national debt, left office just before being thrown in jail for selling arms to Iraq (yes, that really happened and yes, it was Ronny Reagan). Like all conservative panderers, he talked a good game except when he was yelling at trees to stop causing pollution and global warming, he had nothing to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union (T Partiers still think it exists); it was that they saw the US was willing to spend ourselves int... u Thu claire v Ronald Reagan Reagan's economic policies, such as a reduction in government spending and regulation and cuts in taxes, resulted in an unprecedented 92-month long economic boom, from Nov. 1982 to July 1990, with expansion and growth in the GDP (+36%), employment (+20 million jobs), and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (+15%). Wed captainentropy v Abraham Lincoln Reagan!!!??? I didn't realize so many of you right-wingers were druggies, because you're clearly high. It's essentially a toss up between good ole Abe and FDR for me. But Lincoln gets my vote because he ended slavery, and then unfortunately paid for it with his life. Of course I wouldn't really expect right-wingers to choose Lincoln. He was just a RINO. Post

o May 19 Politixuser11 v Barack Obama I chose Barack Obama because he is the best representation we've ever had for America's melting pot. Post
u May 19 Ged v Abraham Lincoln No President had a more difficult challenge. No President sacrificed more. No President had a bigger effect on the greatness of America. Post
May 17 Calfkiller v Someone Else Jefferson Davis was the best 'American' president of all time. It serves the left well to blame the Civil War on slavery, but the reality is that it was about the rejection of the idea of an all powerful federal government that could dictate power while safely hidden away in Washington D.C. It didn't say the best president of the United States did it? B1 Post
u May 17 bat62 v Ronald Reagan I really like that he acknowledged God and the power of prayer. He also was brave and unafraid to tackle controversial matters. Post
May 16 bouchman v Thomas Jefferson While Clinton was the best recent President Jefferson was the best of all time. He wanted a country based on the rule of law which (IMHO) is the most definitive explanation of civilization. Post
May 15 Smoothbeartoo v Ronald Reagan God bless The Gipper, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, the best president we have ever had. The worst?: 1) Lincoln 2) Obama 3) Carter. Post
u May 15 sspphoto v Ronald Reagan For me, President Ronald Reagan was our greatest President because he gave me job security when I worked in Aerospace and Defense at Hughes Aircraft Company in Fullerton, CA (now part of Raytheon) from 1979 to 1995. That poor gentlemen was already entering into the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease before he left office of which he eventually died in 2004 at 93 making him the longest-lived President of the United States and our oldest President who ever served in the highest office in the land as he was elected at 69 and left office at 77 having served us well as an extremely effective leader which is what we completely lack today and desperately need NOW! May 13 rrboone v Abraham Lincoln Intellectually, few come close, and when you consider the tumult going on at the time, it's amazing he managed to keep the U.S. intact. Reagan is the clear winner in the 20th century. Post
u May 12 SESCOMM v Someone Else We've had several great presidents, but with the increase in progress and transparency, I'm afraid we will never again have a president who is adored, respected and supported. They have all had some corruption, openly or not, and this will not end. You are simply choosing the lesser of evils. Post
May 12 Your_Name_Here v Franklin Delano Roosevelt FDR represents what used to be great about this country. He served his country in the military, was an avid hunter, implemented drastic measures when they were needed. Why is Obama on this list? Post
May 12 wde01 v Someone Else William Henry Harrison was the best President because he didn`t live long enough to screw anything up. Post
Feb '13 Neo_NtheMatrix v Ronald Reagan He is the father of modern day conservatism. If we could get back to his principles, we would be in much better shape as a country. Tax low, spend low, and trust the American people to decide for themselves what is best for them. Thank you Ronald Reagan for all you did for our nation! B6 r13 replies e90 endorsed Post
Feb '13 jessejaymes v Bill Clinton Most Americans vote with their wallet. I made more money during Bill Cinton's 8 years than I did the entire rest of my lifetime. He gets my vote. B3 r4 replies e47 endorsed Post
u Feb '13 cpeter133 v Franklin Delano Roosevelt FDR helped resolve the depression, saw us through WW2, and established a government truly concerned about its citizens instead just business. And he did it all from a wheelchair. B4 r8 replies e43 endorsed Post
u Feb '13 Hireman v George Washington A president who could have had the powers of a king, instead chose to allow limitations and left after 2 terms. Put country first before ego or politics. B1 e41 endorsed Post
Feb '13 DARSB v Abraham Lincoln I wanted to co-nominate Lincoln and FDR. Both had major wars to cope with and both did so successfully. Both left enormous legislative legacies and both died in office. But I give it to Lincoln. His war was for the very existence of the Union and was fought on American soil. I think that's a distinction we aren't likely to see repeated. B6 r7 replies e26 endorsed Post
Feb '13 PNWest v Franklin Delano Roosevelt FDR saved America. He got us out of the great depression and led us into victory against fascism in WWII. He was elected 4 times by the people of this country and thought of by the people of the United States as almost a God. It was Roosevelt that started Social Security. To this day conservatives try to smear his name. Had it not been for Roosevelt the United States as we know it would not exist. Ask virtually any respected historian who was were the best two Presidents and they'll answer Roosevelt and Lincoln. Roosevelt gets my nod with Lincoln a very close second place. Feb '13 Denny33 v Someone Else I think John F Kennedy was a great President, it was unfortunate his time was cut short. He tried to end the FED so citizens won't be held hostage by big banks. John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order No. 11110 that returned to the U.S. government the power to issue currency, without going through the Federal Reserve. It is very sad that no other President used this order to get rid of the FED. He was the last President I believe that was for the people! B3 e22 endorsed Post
Feb '13 AntiPorcheria v Ronald Reagan It was Reagan who rebuilt our military, after Carter had practically destroyed it through neglect. It was Reagan's policies that so weakened our greatest enemy of that time, the Soviet Union, to the point where it fell apart not long thereafter. It was Reagan's policies that stopped the spread of Communism in Latin America before it became a direct threat to us. To understand how important this is, consider the problems we now have with illegal immigrants from Mexico, and then try to imagine how it would be if these illegal immigrants were Communists intent on bringing Communism with them into our country. It was Reagan who made America strong again, after the Carte... B1 e21 endorsed Post
