Jun 6 JTHEM v I can see both sides here Boys are more active in primary school settings and could use more recess. Middle school is quite the problem and they need more recess and shop classes. High school is better. but males are quite creative in certain activities. I think they should drive at 12. Post
May 24 LEC v Yes, it's unfair I am going to say something that will irritate a lot of people... we need to have boys schools and girl's schools as long as the money invested in both schools is exactly equal.. no extra money for sports for boys.. and more sports or some form of exercise for girls.. they really don't all want to play volleyball... And I agree with all those who complain about boys being medicated... part of it is to make them more compliant and part is probably do to diet and toxic chemicals in our environment... either way.. this is no way to raise our kids. u May '13 The_Bald_Guy v No, it's fair What is this question asking? It is offered to boys and girls equally, which is fair. In terms.of academics it is fair. The only unfair thing is that boys are punished severely or.medicated.into a stupor for acting like boys. Boys are naturally.aggressive and competitive and need to be.able to burn this off from.time to time. Doing so.in public schools these days, though, gets.them labeled a threat, put on ritalin (or comparable drug), forced to go through psychiatric evaluations, and/or suspended. That is a problem... o May '13 NoAmnestyEVER v No, it's fair WTF kind of question is this? What could possibly be "unfair" about 13 years of education that costs American taxpayers $7000 a year, per student? Especially when it comes to the millions of anchor babies we support. If you think it's unfair to boys, ship them to a garment factory in India. Otherwise be grateful and shut up. Post

May '13 Aftermath v No, it's fair This question makes no sense. But I can tell you whats unfair about K-12. The teachers who sit on their asses all day while the teachers aids do the work, Teachers make fantastic money. The get paid for a years work, and only working 180 days of that year, and then only 6 hours each day. And then the complain about how hard they have it. We should extend the school year so they can actually earn their money, and the kids would be smarter going all year. Or cut their pay in half to reflect the time they actually work. To my fellow factory workers. Think about this. Take the average pay for teachers and divide that by the hours they work each year and you will... r1 reply Post
Apr '13 harold_lloyd v I can see both sides here Asking this question with no context makes it pretty much meaningless. What's unfair is that every kid in the nation doesn't get a good k-12 education as a matter of course. Post
Apr '13 DrFunkenstein v No, it's fair Where did this question come from? What is the basis of the debate? K-12 education is basically education's basic training and it's only unfair aspect is how girls are treated with less respect in the process. I would like to see more specialized career training when a child hits secondary school. Some kids need to have basic carpentry, car maintenance and economic skills and school is an excellent place to pick up those life skills. Post
u Mar '13 ashgreen v No, it's fair Time and time again studies have shown that boys do better in public education settings. They score better on standardized tests and are encouraged more in extracurricular activities. They are far more encouraged to become interested in math and science. Like I said, studies have shown major discrepancies in boys' and girls' test scores in co-ed situations. Funnily enough, all-girl schools don't show a discrepancy at all. Post
u Mar '13 mountain-folk v Yes, it's unfair I would say that an educational system that accommodates the needs of an individual student would be a better choice than the goals of the County, State or the Federal government. Each child learns at a different rate, sometimes better with one subject than another, and with different results depending on the method of presentation. When a student is presented with phonics and solid mathematics starting in preschool and kinder garden they can progress directly into basics of the lower grades. We have found that presenting educational concepts in the proper sequence and breaking these subjects into individual daily requirements is the most effective way to gain the maxi... B1 Post

Feb '13 TheRealWorld v No, it's fair Grow up. This is ridiculous. Here is some sarcasm for you: Yep... K-12 education is completely unfair to boys... because we tend to overlook the fact that they are Humans just like the girls... and are also children in school ready to learn... just like the girls... and are also in class ...just like the girls... and are also getting A's ... just like the girls... and are actually in class and graduating JUST LIKE THE GIRLS. But YES... This is so unfair to the BOYS. Who the heck comes up with these nonsensical Debate questions?? WOW! Post
u Feb '13 sylehrman v Yes, it's unfair Sure/ Schools are run by women who want boys to act more like the girls and less like boys. Post
Feb '13 Mr_GO_HERD v No, it's fair So I'm guessing in a day or so the next topic will be the same question only with Girls as subject? e1 endorsed Post
Feb '13 mwr v No, it's fair POLITIX you are getting silly with your disucssion topics. this one is stupid, boys need ot learn to deal with life, not everyone should get a trophy, life does keep score. how can 6 hours in a classroom be unfair? it interferes with palying vid games?? Post
Feb '13 greenslime300 v I can see both sides here Really depends where you go to school and what teachers you get. There are plenty of sexist teachers out there. K-6 education tends to favor girls, especially with all that "you can't hit a girl" double standard and the like. However, 7-12 is where things are generally more random. I saw plenty of sexism by teachers in high school, and more often than not, boys were the victims of stereotypes and other forms of sexism. e3 endorsed Post
u Feb '13 seedtick v No, it's fair Well, in my life experiences the girls were the protected ones. If anything they were the "brains" of our schools after WWII. And, today girls are big into sports just like the boys. As a matter of fact, I travelled 100 miles to watch one of my granddaughters play in the first two soccer games of the season. She also is on the Jr. High basketball team. And, my youngest granddaughter (eleven) is a long distance runner already. She enters 3Ks regularly. Both of these girls are also on the honor roll at school. But, neither one gets any special treatment compared to the boys. Post
Feb '13 tmarrero33 v I can see both sides here I do not see how the schools are being unfair to boys in the K-12. I will state I a have son in hign school now. He is in gifts & honors classes + he ADD. I as a parent is on him all the time seeing to that he stays focus & not be distracted with everything that is going on in the world today. Teachers can only do so much these days they are not allow to parent or teach our children like they used to be able to do with us. Everything is guided by rules, regulation, and politic B1 Post
Feb '13 Keyjo v No, it's fair What am I missing here? Where did this question come from? I am with Jessie; if anything boys get more preferential treatment than girls. Heck, a century or so past, educating girls was considered unnecessary compared with the necessity of educating girls, especially higher education. B2 r9 replies e25 endorsed Post
Feb '13 Dan_Tien v Yes, it's unfair Boys are expected to sit still and listen quietly from the moment they start school. There is no attempt to teach them through physical activities, which has been shown to be more effective with high energy young boys. Instead they are told to act more like little girls, diagnosed by their teachers as having ADHD if they don't, who then pass a recommendation to the school sponsored psychiatrist to get them medicated. I was told that my son would never make it through high school unless he was given attention deficit disorder meds. I refused because I knew that he was bright and simply bored with their curriculum. That continued every year until the 6th grade, even aft... B5 r5 replies e7 endorsed Post
Feb '13 jessejaymes v No, it's fair In what way is it unfair? Most the bible belt is sports crazy in general and football in particular and definitely let boy athletes get away with much more than the average girl can get away with. The religious right continues to hold onto the old "boys will be boys" when a girl comes up pregnant but labels the girl as a whore. I don't see the point of this poll? u Feb '13 Chromalord v I can see both sides here Im sorry, whats the story here? Unfair how? It favors girls? Puts boys at risk? Makes them wear jock straps to PE? There's no information behind the question! Its like asking me if its colder in the winter or in the country. B3 r3 replies e3 endorsed Post
Feb '13 PayThatCEO v Yes, it's unfair I'm not sure what the story is here. What are we actually voting on? I will say, having raised boys, that I believe boys should start kindergarten a year later than girls their age simply because they aren't as mature. B1 e4 endorsed Post
Feb '13 MadAmerican v No, it's fair Jessie I agree about the sports but pregnancies? Come on man. Not everyone sits on bridges playing banjos and practicing inner family breeding. In the larger inner cities where religion is often lacking I would dare to say that teen pregnancy is more prevelant. I do notice you bash the bible belt alot. Wish you would get out more and meet some different people. This country was also founded on freedome of religion. if this message repeats, sorry. Politix is giving me fits this morning or is it devine intrvention? B1 r1 reply e3 endorsed Post

Feb '13 Russell797 v Yes, it's unfair Mainstream education is unfair to both boys and girls. Everyone is treated as if they are cut from the same mold, with little recognition of individual variation in talent and aptitude. There are choices to be made by the individual in later grades, but even then, make a poor choice and it could haunt you for the rest of your life. e3 endorsed Post
