Mon outsidecat v No, horrible idea what would the tax go to fund and also in states with sales tax we kind of already are taxed on it Post
May 17 Bill2E v No, horrible idea Why would anyone support more tax of any kind. And you want to stop people from eating junk food, what business is this of the government. Get our of our personal lives and let us live them. Post
u May 15 MalloryGrace v No, horrible idea Tax this, tax that. That's all they think about these days. Our government can't accomplish anything, but they sure can come up with ideas of how to tax us to death. And, they've done a great job of that!! Post
u May 5 BossTweed v I have mixed feelings here Only if the proceeds are sent directly to China to pay down our bone crushing trade imbalance and subsequent DEBT. We own them Trillions. Post
May 4 jeffreyknee v I have mixed feelings here Gov't subsidies to the medical industry are 300x that of oil industry subsidies ($1.2 trillion vs. $4 billion per year). Ever since this began in the '60s, the medical industry has quadrupled in size as a portion of the entire U.S. economy, and costs have skyrocketed. Myopic thinkers say gov't has bargained for cheaper healthcare due to the large numbers of Medicare and Medicaid patients. But the holistic reality is caregivers merely pass the extra real costs onto private insured, especially to individuals (which drives them off insurance). The real problem is total healthcare costs have exploded since both public and private insurance business models act as subsid... Post
May 3 NoAmnestyEVER v No, horrible idea Why is it that liberals feel the need to control every aspect of our personal lives. Why is it that they believe they have the right to dictate what people do, say and eat? Why is it that liberals think that they're God? Is it because they don't believe in the real one? B1 Post
May 2 Rocker v No, horrible idea Let me be clear on this - I do NOT support any more taxation. Period. Manage what you have, that's what the rest of the general working population has to do. B2 Post
May 2 Spirit02 v I have mixed feelings here Why, like the bureaucrats don't already soak us for everything already to fatten their over-stuffed coffers at our expenses. Post
u May 1 jond414 v Yes, good idea They should tax the hell out of sugar and fat, just like they do to cigarettes. Afterall fat people cost way more health dollars than smokers, yet they tax the hell out of tobacco. r1 reply Post
u Apr 29 treedcat25 v No, horrible idea Food's an essential. If anything, it should be taxed less than other goods to make it more affordable for the poor. Post

May 3 NoAmnestyEVER I thought you liberals were against higher taxes for poor people, and this is nothing more than a massive new tax on the poor. Poor people eat the unhealthiest foods, drink and smoke the most and have the most health problems. Post @NoAmnestyEVER

u Apr '13 super66 v No, horrible idea It sounds like just another scheme to me (like any other form of 'tax'.). It's always about the money. We are taxed to death already. There's no way any of the current idiotic tax proposals are going to have any kind of positive effect for the people - it's all about control. B1 Post
u Apr '13 uratoon v No, horrible idea I would support the idea of not letting food stamp recipients buy certain foods!! IE: Lobster, Junk food, Soda, etc. Post
u Apr '13 BLA1287 v No, horrible idea No we dont need or deserve any more tax...reduce taxes is the answer give a tax incentive for eating healthy...if anything but to the answer the question no Post
Apr '13 Hold_Please v I have mixed feelings here I'm good with it, but history has shown when we create "sin taxes", they're only viable as long as people keep committing the "sin". And if such a tax is created to make people avoid such "sins", then isn't that government legislating morality? r1 reply Post
u May 1 jond414 Good point, they are modifying behavior. I just quit smoking cause $7 a pack was just too much to spend, even at my income. Post @jond414

Feb '13 wangotango v No, horrible idea While we are at it why dont we just have a fun tax created, along with a heterosexual tax, a intellectual tax, and how about a bit of taxation for being allowed to breath in Obama's new republic of no self responibility. e9 endorsed Post
Feb '13 Dan_Tien v No, horrible idea Tax junk food after subsidizing its production? Better idea I think is to increase the cost of cheap poor nutritional food while cutting government spending at the same time by removing subsidies to the companies that produce it. Then maybe people will buy more nutritious food because it won't be more expensive than junk food. B1 e7 endorsed Post
Feb '13 PoliticalSpice v Yes, good idea In general, I support taxes that pne can chose to avoid by modifying conduct in a way that serves public policy. But understand the notion is not to add more taxes, but to reduce obligation to pay other taxes. Example: eliminate income tax for the lowest paid individuals and replace funds with taxes on junk food, disposable products, etc. e7 endorsed Post
Feb '13 MarkJM v I have mixed feelings here Most times it won't deter someone from going on a junk food binge. However, many individuals quit smoking when some states (NYS for example) jacked the tax on a pack of smokes. I'm against any tax increase deemed to be outrageous, but we do have an obesity problem in America, primarily because many are addicted to junk (including lack of exercise)... r3 replies e5 endorsed Post
