Ah, posturing and dancing. Politicians at work. I guess I give him kudos for making a statement. Would like to see less time spent on bills that aren't meant to go anywhere, though.

I'm sick of reading about guns! I swear if Americans would take their head out of their buttocks and focused their attention on something more important like let's say, the economy with the same passion as they do with their precious guns, we'd actually be getting somewhere.
  • !
If you "practice what you preach" and leave the subject matter alone. things that really!
make a difference, just may get the attention it deserves! but I know libs can't do that!
so why do you continue reading something that makes you sick????

How about the lawmakers stop making stupid laws they know are not going to pass and focus on their JOBS. Must be nice to have so much free time and resources to waste while on the taxpayer dime.
  • !
Ya know, if goverment would stop trying to crawl up every crevice our personal lives and pay more attention to this piss poor financial shape this country is in, we might all be a lot better off.

Republicans just do not get it for some reason and this right wing State Representative is a prime example of what is wrong with the GOP. Making it illegal to debate or propose a law you do not agree with is some thing I would have expected in Nazi Germany back in the 1930's. We do have a 1st Amendment right that affords us freedom of speech.
  • !
And disarming the populace, searching their homes to make sure their guns are stored how you view them as properly stored etc are no worse then what this guy is trying to do. Trying to restrict rights is not the answer to a problem, all it does is causes more problems.
Its fair play to be honest, you try to take our rights we try to take yours.

@Thunderchicken Absurdity is often a common denominator of a progressive agitator who likes to restrict the freedoms of the lawabiding people in this country.

    @marine1

I can't believe that Weber (he sponsored the gun confiscation bill) arguing that this bill violated the first amendment.

@NTBFW Yea, think that one out. Instead of hurling snarky quips at each other on here we could do it in a prison cafeteria. The remedies that are in place need to be used. Voters can use them if only they start to think and understand the importance of what is at stake. In absense of that making it a crime would make little difference. It is in certian instances, and those laws are largely unenforced.

@PoliticalSpice I am thinking about presidents and legislators should be prosecuted for violating the constitution. Regardless of party lines.

Look it is making a point, don't mess with their guns.
    A point I agree with 100%.
Cars are used irresponsibly everyday by millions of people, and kill more people annually, but I don't see us outlawing or restricting horsepower, or lowering speed limits, or making it manditory to have built in breath analyzer before cars will start.
More kids killed that way than by a gun every year.
So this obviously is not about protecting people, so what is it about?

Limiting the degree in which we can defend ourselves? Why would our own gov't not want us to be able to defend ourselves? Unless... They know something we don't. Unless... They don't want us to be able to one day defend ourselves against them.
Now go ahead and make fun of me for saying that, but where I come from- if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck, then son, it's a duck!

"I'm want to throw anyone who proposes gun control (thereby threatening my "perceived" Second Amendment rights) in jail (thereby denying them their First Amendment rights)." Can these gun worshipping kooks get any crazier? Of course, this deranged piece of "proposed" legislation has about as much chance of becoming law as I have of being elected to the baseball Hall of Fame.
  • !
The only reason he proposed this is because of the Liberal Loon senator from Missouri who proposed the gun ban. Liberals can be as stupid as they want, but when it gets thrown back in their face they hate it....don't you?
  • !
@Grubby You're just making it up as you go along, aren't you Grubby? The "Liberal Loon" senator, as you describe him, did not propose a GUN ban; he proposed an assault weapons ban. But, don't let anything as insignificant as the truth stop you from posting wild exaggerations and bald-faced lies.
  • !
@DapperDave It is a Gun Ban...the definition he uses of an "assault weapon" hits just about everything, including .22 caliber pea shooters. Look it up.
  • !
@MongoAPillager No, boo boo, that's like saying banning top fuel dragsters from being driven on public roads (which they are) is a "car ban". Banning assault weapons is not a "gun ban". It's an assault weapons ban, meaning you can still keep all your other pistols, rifles, shotguns, etc.- and even go out and buy more of the same, meaning it's NOT a "gun ban". Got it?

What a silly gesture and waste of legislative resources. Couldn't this guy have used his opportunity to introduce a useful bill, like fix a bridge or something?
  • !
Stop the madness! I post that to my Facebook friends on both sides all the time. I believe that this proposed bill is another way of saying the same thing.
