Tea Party Group Mails Photo of Karl Rove in Nazi Uniform

Karl Rove's supposed war with the Tea Party hit a high note on Tuesday when the Tea Party Patriots emailed out a photoshopped image of Rove in Nazi regalia.

Rove is pictured in the uniform of an "officer in the Reichsführer-SS, an elite rank during Adolf Hitler's Third Reich," according to Politico's identification. The visual parallels with SS Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler are striking, as Politico makes clear in their own work of photoshopping, above.

The message was sent by TPP's co-founder Jenny Beth Martin, who has now apologized to Rove. Rove replied, "apology accepted. Now let's all get back to work building conservative Republican majorities."

Ironically, the email accompanying the image attacks Rove for his ad hominem attacks on Tea Party members, whom he's said to have called "racists, bigots, paranoid" and "political 'underbrush.'"

A Tea Party Patriots' spokesman claims the picture was included in the message by mistake. It was apparently added by a multimedia political fundraising firm called Active Engagement, who've taken full responsibility, Politico reports.

    The Tea Party may turn out to be more useful than we first thought. They know Karl Rove for what he is and they know his influence. The Tea bunch will never likely have serious majority power in the party and would likely be better served by mellowing out and running with the Libertarians but they can be useful in slowing down Karl Rove representing the ultra rich's war on the middle class.

    @Rocker LOL they're trying to smooth it over but what Rove stands for and what the Tea party stands for is one wants to funnel ALL the money to the rich and the other wants NO money for ANYONE. LOL they really are starting to eat their own. This could get interesting. They're making nice now but they are not allies.

    @jessejaymes - maybe considered the next enlightenment possibly, let the next 15 years play out and ill be better able to make an educated prediction on that.

    excuse me, do you honestly believe that simply because a person was wrong means that he did nothing good for italy? that's ridiculous. adolf hitler was a shit, but look at the great things that he did for germany. he ended the horrible recession that marked the end of world war 1 there, and built germany up to be a political and economic giant.

    If you know anything about socialism/communism or even Nazism, Obama, no matter what he does, still wouldn't fit in that uniform.

    If the photo was added by a marketing firm we have yet another non-story. However, conservatives know full well Rove is not a conservative, and is not working in the best interests of conservatives. He is an establishment Republican all the way.

    @Keyjo The difference I see is that the establishment Republicans are trying to turn America into another country of the ultra rich and everyone else. Destroy the middle class.

    @Keyjo I think the Republicans, Boehner, McConnell etc. do not want to win, and do not want the responsibility that comes with leadership of both houses and the White House. They are content to be the underdogs. They have power while being able to point their fingers at the Democrats. They don't mind the tax and spend habit so long as they can keep the figures a little lower. I am so frustrated with these people I could scream. I've mentioned before, I live next to Boehner's district. I don't know why he wasn't tossed out this past year.

    Karl Rove is far from meaningless. Any man who can fail as miserably as he failed last election and continue to pull in the kind of money he pulls in is not meaningless.

    I went with Simple Mistake. This was an error made by "Active Engagement", a company that has obvious motive to do well for its clients. I guess this could be one of those ultra-subtle media maneuvers by some cabal somewhere, but I'd think just the sheer number of inevitable Simple Mistakes is bound to be much larger than the number, if any, of secret groups bent on the destruction of civilization.

    There are no simple mistakes in national politics in my view. They do what they do knowing what the reaction will be, then they retract knowing full well you can't retract what people have already had branded in their minds. And you always blame it on "staffers, agencies, rouge dismissed workers, etc., etc.." it's how the game is played. Rove is out to destroy the Tea Party. They know it. There will be more.

    @jessejaymes Well, I can't argue with your Rove v. Tea Party view - there does seem to be unequivocal evidence for your GOP Civil War thesis. But I think this photo screw up is more incompetent than sinister.

    @DARSB We're going to have to agree to disagree here. The Tea Party was birthed in anger. It is dying through complacence. They have to enrage the base and since Rove is not going to let them have any say forthwith they are fighting for their survival. I don't think it was incompetence. I think was very consistent with the Tea Party attitude. They're learning how to play the game. I thought Rand Paul was more effective in rebuttal than Rubio was. The war is on for control of the party. It will be easier for the Dems if the Tea Party wins.

    Agreed. I hope those with the Libertarian point of view just branch off entirely and join the LP outright. Hopefully it will make us a real third party contender. Those with our mindset are growing stronger and stronger each passing day that Congress continues to show its inadequacies.

    @jessejaymes The picture is the height of irony. If any group in america resembles the nazi's, it's the teabaggers. Both started out as a grassroot movement reacting to economic recession, both became puppets of outside social agendas. Both became jingoistic and censorous in nature. Both targeted abortion and homosexuality, and both claim religious superiority. The only real difference is that at least the nazi's actually did help their economy; the teabaggers only have empty rhetoric.

    Starting to eat their own!? The G.O.P. has been imploding since 2008. Ever since the inception of Tea Party of Chuckie, they are being devoured by a growing and untreatable tumor. They have been infiltrated by so many antisocial splinter groups. If the Republicans begin a colon cleanse now, they may revive themselves by 2016.

    Rove was never in love with the tea party, because they were true believers, and not easily controlled. Now he wants to dump them entirely in favor of more electable candidates.

    But if the Republican party is to recover, Rove must go too. He thinks winning is the only thing that counts, he forgets that the winner has to be up to the task..

    So, let me get this right... they ACCIDENTALLY created a Photoshop image of Rove in a Nazi uniform, then subsequently accidentally attached it in an E-mail? Nice backpedaling Tea Baggers, don't wanna upset the Führer. He'll have to write more about how much he hates Karl Marx & Commies in his new book "Mein Kampf II" to promote on Faux News.
