Love is in the air. President Obama and former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney don't usually see eye to eye on issues. But they are appearing together in a new $1 million ad campaign supporting the legalization of same-sex marriage.
The campaign, highlighting bipartisan support for marriage equality, also features former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, both Republicans.
The Respect for Marriage Coalition, a group of LGBT, civil rights and labor organizations, released the ad Wednesday to air on cable television and the Sunday talk shows in the coming weeks. A print version is set to run in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal.
Gay marriage laws are pending in various states. The Supreme Court is preparing to hear cases on a California gay marriage ban and the federal Defense of Marriage Act that defines marriage as between a man and a woman.
