@PoliticalSpice its really odd,i really don,t hate anyone, however i consider some to be like a slinky,,not much use,but its fun to push them down a flight of stairs

@MongoAPillager Yea but pushing obama down a flight of stairs is one thing, marrying to cheney another. As i said you hate (or hat) obama more then is reasonable...

We need to move on with the same-sex marriage issue... cough... Republican extremists.... cough... need to slow down on certain issues and choose their battles. Two gay people have the same right to be happy as my wife and I.
  • !
Some will never accept the concept of same-sex couples having equal rights, just as some still don't accept the rights of women or blacks. But with the realization that the majority of the country does feel the inequities aren't what we as Americans want, they to will accept that this is right and fair.
  • !
Okay, first under the Constitution they should have that "right", however, don't mix issues....you're mixing legal issues with moral issues and physical attributes that people are born with {skin color} versus behavior that people can choose....

    So as an American I am for them, but as a christian there is freedom from that lifestyle they choose....{and as early as elementary now are being indoctrinated in schools into....}

@AceLuby actually I have a friend who is not attracted to women at all. He knows he is gay and feels it is a choice, he says he will remain celebate as he feels it is both "un Christian, and against nature" he feels it is absolutely a choice....
  • !
@SavageMazx I'm a woman who finds men to be sexually attractive.(Well, some men.) It most certainly is not a choice. It's the way I'm made on a biological level. If your friend is "not attracted to women at all," he is not making a choice. Sexual attraction happens on the hormonal level. He can choose to remain celibate. People do. But it's a darn shame he has to live life deprived of one of its greatest joys just because society has scolded him into denying himself.

Cheney's daughter is gay. He just had to wait until he was not in politics anymore to have her back. He should have done that while in office! I am a conservative and would have given the same answer as Laura Bush!
People keep wanting conservatives in a box where we all believe the same things. Just not true, never will be!
  • !
@BelinKS Know what would help? Next time there's a conversation where "all" the conservatives are insulting "liberals" for wanting to grant equality to all citizens on this matter, jump in there. "Hey, I'm a conservative. And I believe in equal rights."

The extremists will, of course, call you a RINO and claim you're not *really* conservative but thoughtful people will know better.

60 years ago nobody would have believed that interracial marriages would ever be federally legal and funnily enough, the same exact arguments are being used on both sides. In 60 years our country will look back at this time in the same way we look back 60 years from now and think "I can't believe some people actually BELIEVED that..."

Dick Cheney??? Dick Cheney a progressive??? OMG. Don't say things like that when I'm already out of breath from laughing. Bwahahahahahaha.

    @Zazziness
Cheney's daughter is gay. He just waited until he was out of politics to have her back. He should have fully done it while in office. I've said this before and I'll say it again as many times as it takes to get through!
I'm a conservative. If asked the same question my answer would have been just like Laura Bush.
People keep wanting to put conservatives in a box where we all believe the same things. Not going to happen, never will!

Ugh, I am SO over so-called Christians shoving their intolerance in everyone elses face over gays, all the while not realizing that their actions are the biggest reason for atheism.
  • !
Usually I'm a bit scornful when Politix goes for the deliberately inflammatory headline but this one made me laugh so hard my ribs hurt.
  • !
In Cheney's case this is nothing more than an attempt to "humanize" him. But we all know they still chain him in the cellar at night with the rest of the werewolves.
  • !
Why do they keep using universally instead of the nation? There are many countries that will never accept same-sex marraiges. So it's definitely not universally!
If asked the same question, I would have had the same reply as Laura Bush.
Cheney's daughter is a lesbian. He just waited until he was out of politics to have her back. He should have done that while in office!
By the way, I am a conservative. So many want to put all conservatives in the same box and have us believe all the same things. Not going to happen, never will !!!!

    Why not?

Unless fundamentalist Christianity rules your life, there's no reason to object.

If it doesn't take anything away from you, what's the problem?

Don't you seek to maximize individual freedom and liberty?

Neo's probably too beside himself to comment. It's going to be very difficult and it's going to break his heart to call Cheney a "RINO!"
  • !
@Keyjo I know I had a very hard time admitting I agreed with Cheney. They say that acceptance is the first step.

The Republicans will drop the same-sex marriage issue like a hot potato very soon.
I wonder how long it will take for gay people to forgive the Republican Party. There are plenty of gay people who besides the gay rights issue would be Republicans but they vote Democrat because the Republican candidates are anti-gay.
I can imagine in the next election lots of Republican candidates coming out in favor of gay marriage and even emphasizing it so gay conservative voters don't mistakenly think they are anti-gay. This will work better in elections with new candidates.

Why special rights for Gays? Where is the commercials standing up for the rights of Men having ten wives? If you open pandora's box, you must allow everyone their right to marry. Our families are so broken, this is just one more nail in the coffin of our nation.
  • !
it will never be "accepted", will we have to live with it since you force it down our throats every waking moment of the day,,,,yes, but that just makes us despise you even more.
