I'm embarrassed over this sequester business. None of the DC players have clean hands on this, but now hearing some members of Congress say it's a good idea is unbelievably irresponsible.
  • !
No it's not ... Sequester should be forced.. It will not do Any of the things claimed because it not a Cut of any kind.. and it's a measly 68 Billion bucks... Not in Cuts... But in reduction of Increases of the budget... We would still spend Billions more than we spent last year even with the 68b taken out of the increases... If it was a problem then when we spent an Extra 400 Billion on bailout, 1 Trillion on medical, and 100's of Billions of other New Spending we should have had an Apocalypse...

It's a 68 Billion dollar reduction in New Spending for christs sake... It will not be noticed in the big picture of 2.5 Trillion in spending this year...

  • !
@Quantummist .. In fact .. I would call for Zero increase over last years budget... that would be more like 500 billion... and we would still spend as much as we did last year ......
  • !
@Quantummist Typical liberal scare and fear tactics. " Oh we will have to lay off cops"

The question is: Why do they cut 'essential' services? And not pencil pushing bureaucrats- folks double dipping on pensions and the like?

Politics and to scare people, that's why.

No one would care if 1000 people were cut from the FEMA payroll (an office that has lost over 30 billion in 10 yrs with no accounting for it)

I think just 2 people...Limbaugh himself and that poor slob of a gopher who works for him..."Snerdly" I believe limbaugh calls him.
  • !
Didn't this gas bag say he was going to leave the USA if healthcare reform passed? Why is he still here? I want Neo to stay and Limbaugh to go!

My natural reaction was to rush to post what an idiot he is. But even a blind dog finds a bone now and then. This country could find a billion dollars in graft in a week to cover the "sequester". Obama is selling fear on this one. Bring on the sequester. The do your job and veto every bill with pork in it.
  • !
Here in the Twin Cities the first things the Democrat mayors do, when faced with opposition to raising taxes, are to cut high profile services. Instead of taking out pork projects (bike paths, dog parks, city beatification projects, ect) they go after the police, fire, and social workers.
  • !
@Yank Both parties do that man. It's "selling fear" to the public so the public won't mess around with their pet projects to pay off their political investors.
  • !
@jessejaymes True, and sad but politics have become who can best scare people away from voting for the other guy instead of extolling their own strengths.
  • !
LImbaugh is right, we are all being played and have been for many years. The DC crowd, every one of them, are all about the money and power for themselves. We have allowed them way too much power and how we rescind it,is anybodies guess.
  • !
@marine1 I may be "one-sided" old friend...But at least I would be willing and able to negotiate with the opposite party...And get the people's work done!...But you have heard them (the tea party types in congress)---"we will not negotiate"...So there you have it my friend.

Take the blinders off they're all hypocrites

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl confronted Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) over his past support for the sequester, just as the one-time GOP vice presidential candidate sought to blame President Obama for the automatic across-the-board cuts scheduled to go into effect on March 1.
During an appearance on This Week, Ryan argued that President Obama “proposed the sequester” and hasn’t “put any details out there” to offset it.“We are here because the president back in the last session of Congress refused to cut spending in any place and therefore we wound up with the sequester,” Ryan insisted. But Ryan hasn’t always opposed the automatic cuts.
As Karl pointed out, when Congress was debating the Budget Control Act in August of 2011, Ryan supported the framework and urged his fellow Republicans to vote for the sequester:

I have no belief in Washington, none! Why would I believe them now? I am reasonably certain that the sequester will hurt in the short term, but I don't believe that police and firemen are going to be laid off in mass. Government workers, perhaps they need to feel what minimum wage workers have felt for a long time..fear.
  • !
Police and fireman work for cities and counties, how is this going to effect them? Mayb federal employees need to experience what the rest of us deal with on a daily basis. If a business can't make a profit they lay folks of and if goverment can manage a budget, maybe they need to do the same. welcome to our world.
  • !
    @marine1
My thoughts exactly. I don't necessarily want the economy to suffer, but my question is; if we can authorize 60 billion for Sandy relief then we can probably manage 85 Billion in cuts, 1/2 of which won't ago into effect till 2014.

We agree on this one and here's why I agree with you. All this fear mongering about no meat and teachers and this that is pure BS. Politicians will not instill draconian measures on the general voting demographics all at once because they know they will not be re-elected. There is enough graft in virtually every major program that could be cut tomorrow without changing the bottom line services whatsoever. This is all smoke and mirrors business as usual. When they stop paying 300.00 for hammer and 1,500 for a toilet seat and stop people from scamming social security for TRILLIONS then come talk to me about the sequester. Not until. Take it off the cliff. it forces them to do their jobs in order to be re-elected.
  • !
Ladies and Gentlemen, For the first time in my life I'm ashamed to admit that I am in agreement with Mr. Limbaugh. While I don't care at all for his over-the-top style (or any of the over-the-top Info-tainers on either side), I have to agree with his statements.
  • !
I agree with the master of oratory, El Rushbo. He obviously was referring to the wannabe despot and the 'low information' voters bought off by 'geeks bearing gifts.'
Where was the outcry when 'pagoda hips' proclaimed: "For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country," when her significant other was elected. Oh, and how about her statement caught on an open mike during a ceremony; "All this for a damned flag?" 'Domini go Friskcum'.....
  • !
What Rush is pointing out, is the fact that Democrats ALWAYS resort to "POLITICAL TERRORISM" every time someone mentions bringing the budget under control! It never fails! They'll threaten to take away every government "entitlement" in existence if you even HINT of a budget cut!~ And you know what? There are so many Americans ignorantly dependent on government for their sustenance... IT WORKS!~ THAT is something to be ashamed of!
  • !
WOW I actually agree with something that came out of that fat bastards mouth...its sad and some what disgusting that theses repubes are trying to keep this country a plutonomy at all cost...
  • !
@MarkJM Its very difficult to tell here...there are far too many people on the far right who really do believe what you wrote...Its a shame and unfortunate--but that's were we are in this nations politics these days.
  • !
Rush has a great point.EVERYONE should be ASHAMED right now.I guess it was OK for obummers wife to say that back at the first of his presidency..I HAVE NEVER BEEN PROUD OF THIS COUNTRY TILL NOW, so why do you liberals have such a problem with the truth and not with moochelle 5 years ago???
  • !
Hell I've been ashamed of Limbaugh...ever since he went on the air! I can't understand why anyone would even bother to take him seriously. He ALWAYS gets the issues wrong. He continuously puts out false and misleading information. He wears his prejudiced lenings like a badge of honor. And he actually (often in fact) talks down to the very audience that seems to revere him and they actually continue to believe the words coming out of his mouth. Its amazing!

On the Liberal Enemies Scoring Card, Conservatives are judged on how effective they are in exposing them for what they are, IOW, shining the light of truth on them makes them loose control of their bodily functions, they scurry around like rats seeking an exit, or deep shadows to lick their wounds of slings and arrows striking at their foibles and common cause. The more effective the assault on their ideology, the more they rely on the Liberal lexicon of defamation, hyperbole, racial innuendos, semantics and out right fabrications .

Since El Rushbo entered the scene 25 years ago, the opposition, including this president has attempted to blunt & marginalize his message, including having him removed from broadcasting -- all to the chagrin of his detractors. He is at the top of their Hate list -- hoping his demise through any freak of nature including Hara-kiri. It is indeed amusing to watch -- with all the kings horses and all the king's men. Couldn't bring down the Maha'Rush'i of talk radidio once and forever.....<smile>

@S-N-A-F-U He'll fall of his own bigotry, prejudice, and ignorance...All we have to do is stand by and watch him....self-implode.

Perhaps, but many, many, many millions of people will loose their jobs and I don't think they should become the "sacrificial lambs" of this country---just because of the extreme right-wing Republican's in the House of Representatives.
  • !
@Sonny ...I just don't buy it Sonny, just fear mongering in my opinion. What will you think if sequester happens and those things we are being warned against just don't happen? I would be interested in your answer.
  • !
@Sonny Limbaugh was talking about you. You freak out over 65 billion, but what is going to happen when we have to cut a trillion more?
  • !
@Yank Limbaugh does not have a clue of what he is talking about..If you choose to believe him, then so be it...I do not...So what ever he has said and what ever number he has thrown out there- is....as far as I'm concerned....NOT worth listening to...He's YOUR leader, not mine!

I am ashamed too. Ashamed of a Senate that refuses to pass a budget so an individual Senator cannot have a vote held against him come election time. Ashamed of Republicans to appear to be ready to lead then back off. Ashamed most of all by a president who refers campaigning to leading. All of them are cowards; all of them are kids playing games with our money and lives. There are plenty of ways to cut the budget if the weak kneed politicians will let go of their pet projects:

"We have the media play along with all of this..." I suppose he has the right to blame the media for making our problems worse, and I am not forgetting that Rush Limbaugh is PART of the media.
  • !
I'm ashamed that a quick-fix that was devised over a mere few days as a last resort is the only solution our representatives could come up with over the past many months.
They're not engaged and not doing the job they were elected to do.
Shame on Rush for accepting and downplaying this result.
  • !
Im ashamed too...It's all ObamaDrama! A smart person would have higher expectations of our president. Ignorant people will be swayed by BO's tongue though. It doesn't matter where you lye on the political spectrum, painting an ominous picture to get a rise in negative polls of your counterparts is wrong.
