The woman veep Joe Biden advised to buy a shotgun (and "fire two blasts outside the house" in the event of danger) in a recent town hall meeting is claiming the suggestion is an insult to women, reportsNational Review.
Kate Ernest told FOX News' Megyn Kelly that Biden's remarks were "a little sexist," and little more than an invitation to be "a sitting duck" in a life-threatening situation. Ernest's complaint lies with Biden's supposed assumption that women need a guiding hand when it comes to placing them on a firearm.
"I think it was poor advice, and it comes off a little sexist," Ernest told Kelly. "Like, 'Let me tell you what you need' versus, you know, 'Arm yourself or protect yourself in a way that you feel necessary.'"
@Vance1 I have had this conversation with you so many times its ludicrous that you can't remember simple facts, but here goes again.... I'm not a Liberal, I'm a card carrying member of the Libertarian Party. I didn't vote for Obama in either election and I don't support about 80% of what he does. The comment was aimed at accepting shitty leadership, despite wanting better. K for next time try and remember.
They were more stupid than sexist, besides if you want to get someones attention, rack the pump slide on a shot gun and the whole damn group will take notice and you don't have to waste a shell that you might need.
That is actually correct. A pump shotgun being jacked is one of life's great attention getters. But have you noticed we've come to the point that both left and right used the word "SEXIST" each and every time a white man in this country says anything that someone doesn't like. Which is every word spoken by a white male.
@jessejaymes Agree.....day's of opening doors and putting the coat over a mud puddle are over (for the most part). Women (seem to) want their "equality" and let every man know they can take "care" of themselves......YET, how many 1st dates have we men had where a woman picked up the check or at least went "dutch"? Now, I know I will hear from the feminist.....but "the truth will set you free".....tough!
@stepped_in_it One morning I was awakened by my woman at 6:00 a.m. after having worked the night shift with the news that her car had a flat tire. As I groggily stumped into the morning to change her flat tire the thought crossed my mind that equality is not exactly equal.
@jessejaymes Amen Brother....let's shout it from the alter! Women, change your own tires, for (a fictitious) god's sake, pick up a damn check.....it's not equality until you women go out, kill it, clean it AND drag it back to the cave's fire! <grunt grunt>
@stepped_in_it Hehehe. And while we're at it women? When you bring home a dress from Neiman Marcus that cost you 400.00 and you tell me that "I just saved you 400.00 because this dress was on sale for half price". that is NOT saving me 400.00? I don't remember it being a foregone conclusion that you were buying the dress when it was 800.00 so therefore a half off sale means NOTHING to me. LOL
I'm going to have to go with stupid. But I would also have to know whether the gal (or any novice) in question even owns or is knowledgeable with firearms. If she is not then a shotgun is the ideal area weapon. Simple. Point in the direction not aim point. Loud blast. Low maintenance. A favorite with women since the colonial times. However if the gal knows her firearm business then the statement would be merely stupid in assumption. Basically, in my opinion the shotgun reduces home defense to the simplest terms - for anyone - woman, man, or child if you're forced to act.
Is there anything, I repeat, ANYTHING in this world that is either NOT sexist, racist, not PC correct.....etc. People of this USA, once you become an adult, be an adult! Grow the F up! Because I don't wear a black shirt, I'm NOT a racist. Because I will open a door, pick up the check or do what I have to to protect a woman, I'm NOT a sexist. Women seem to think equality means "I want it until I have to earn it"......JEEZ!
@mimi57 Yep and until proven otherwise, it's also a (to me) true statement! Sorry if it offended you mimi. Not intended to. Raised to be a gentlemen by a woman who could "kill it and clean it"! Now, it appears to me, if I "kill it and clean it", I'm wrong. And waiting for a woman to "kill it and clean it", I'd just go hungry!
@mimi57 I know mimi....after I typed everything and just before I "posted" it. Felt I wore my fingers out so why not click one more time......LOL (besides, a lil tired. Working too much! But,$$$ is $$$.....selling my soul to the company store...bahaha)
There are many women out there far more knowledgeable & proficient in gun handling & shooting than many men. I wish one would ask Joe to put up or shut up & challenge him to a target shoot , trap or skeet . He runs his mouth for an agenda - let him either prove or eat his words. Then apologize.
You know how I feel lol. But let me say this. For ME I am a small woman. I am more confident with an AR-15 than a shotgun. I use Hornady TAP ammo 40 gr for home defense. I have 30 rounds as opposed to two or 8 depending on the shotgun. The AR-15 has a fraction of the recoil. The collapsible stock fits me better and it's lighter. I have personally tested the penetration of 00 buck against TAP ammo. The shotgun penetrates through walls and 2x6" boards more than the TAP ammo. I am not discounting the shotgun as a defensive weapon. It's a beast. But it doesn't work for ME nearly as well as an AR15. I have gone through many shooting houses and always score better with an AR than a shotgun. From my bedroom door to my front door is 80 feet. That's getting to the edge of a shotguns effective range. But nearly point blank for an AR15. I can't imagine doing this but if I only wanted to shoot to scare someone I could load a magazine with tracers and it would look devastating. A totally foolish thing to do but still not as foolish as what Biden is suggesting. What really flies all over me is someone that has so little knowledge about firearms, trying to tell me about what is the best weapon to use. Or to suggest to anyone about gun policy. That would be like asking you to write a farm bill. Nothing against you but I doubt you know much about farming. I don't know if it's sexist or not. It offended me in a professional level.
Btw I won't always be able to spend this much time here. I had a mini stroke last Friday and have spent the better part of the week in the hospital and home in bed. I am almost back to normal and expect to get back to work Monday. But although we don't agree on many things it is great to be able to at least talk to you without all the snarky gotcha BS.
@NTBFW I don't think you should be offended I don't think he was speaking to anyone who has any professional gun training. You seem able down to yourself with the gun probably better than I. I have not shot any of my weapons since I purchased them. I don't go target shooting I don't go practice shooting.
If I was talking to a lady gun owner I would tell them my experiences and what works best for me and what I've heard from others and let them make their own choices and I think that's what I was really doing. Giving an opinion.
Sorry to hear about your health problems. I'll pray for you and hope you have for recovery.
I don't do snarky gotcha (Palin) comments. I feel they are counterproductive. If I have if I take issue with something that is said I would let you know straight out. And if I am that offended I just would not dialogue with you any longer.
