A Virginia police officer claims he was fired after reporting to higher-ups the details of fellow officers' plans to take out the President and First Lady.
The unnamed Richmond policeman's suspicions about his peers was taken seriously enough to warrant a secret service investigation into two fellow officers who allegedly spoke of "planting a bomb,"
reports Salon, and while the investigation turned up nothing, the officers were fired anyway amidst the scandal. But now the whistleblower himself has been sacked.
"It concerns me and it should concern others, if he was retaliated based upon his right to express his concern on this public matter,"
said employment attorney Thomas Robert, who is not personally involved with the case.
But another attorney, namely that representing the two officers dispatched following the supposed threat against the Obamas, isn't shedding any tears for the anonymous cop:
"Unfortunately, the termination of the self-proclaimed 'whistleblower' does nothing to remedy the fact that his false allegations resulted in the termination of two officers; their careers were ended and they have gone through eight months of hell."
