Coffee, tea, or nudity?
A Washington chain of drive-thru coffee joints that employ scantily clad young women has been charged with allowing said women to do more than simply craft a cup o' joe. "Grab 'n' Go" workers in the store's Everett location, just outside Seattle, are alleged to have been stripping for cash following a months-long investigation the
Consumerist believes, with tongue firmly in cheek, could have ended a bit sooner.
"Police pored over surveillance footage showing the baristas allegedly putting on a show for customers without serving any coffee, and receiving money for doing so," writes the site's Mary Beth Quirk. "It's fine with authorities if the baristas want to wear swimsuits or what looks to be lingerie, but stripping is a no-no."
Despite the owner's insistence that a strict, no-tolerance policy exists for such behavior, neighbors claim otherwise, according to police.
"Citizens complained that these locations served more than just coffee," stated a police spokesman. "They were uncovering themselves and exposing themselves, which is completely different than the outfits they were wearing; it's behavior driven as opposed to what they were wearing."
