The Department of Homeland Security has released hundreds of illegal immigrants in a move to save money before the looming budget cuts kick in this Friday.

One Arizona sheriff claims that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) freed over 500 detainees in his county alone at the weekend. Not only that, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu says that the ICE told him of plans to release a some 10,000 detainees in total, Fox News reports.

The move is "abhorrent" according to House Judiciary Committee Chair Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), who fears the worst. "By releasing criminal immigrants onto the streets, the administration is needlessly endangering American lives," he warned.

The released detainees are not dangerous, claims an ICE spokesperson: they're "noncriminals and other low-risk offenders who do not have serious criminal histories."

Other Republicans suspect something nefarious is going on. John Boehner suggested the release of detainees is a political tactic to scare Americans about the sequester. "This is very hard for me to believe, that they can't find cuts elsewhere in their agency," said Boehner on CBS. "I frankly think this is outrageous."

    Send them back to where ever they came from, next time put them in prison if they get caught again. These leeches need dealt with and given reason not to come here illegally to steal American jobs, money and resources.

    @Keyjo And apparently the GOP is too. The GOP controlled House sent up Two Bills already. Like I said, BOTH SIDE are to blame here. You should stop being a partisan lemming and look at the big picture for once.

    Well, it appears some of the spending cuts are at DHS.
    But why won't the GOP come to the table and talk.
    I suggest they close ALL corporate loopholes and end ALL corporate welfare. End most tax deductions, all deductions for those making over $100,000 annually.

    @Keyjo you pretty much answered your own question on that one. If I'm not mistaken the republics are at the table. Obama is the one on tour. What you just said is the reason. You want MORE taxes but NO SPENDING CUTS. The republicans have in to the tax increases. Now they want their spending cuts.

    You mean they are all there in D.C. as we speak?
    And they gave in to SOME tax increases.
    Absolutely I want major spending cuts.
    First, cut off ALL mercenaries and all unnecessary military contractors.
    Second, we can cut out all corporate welfare and end all tax deductions and loopholes for those making over $100,000.
    Fourth, end that useless war on drugs, it is a money pit.
    There are a few savings.

    I would spend enough to fly them to Mexico City. Pack them in like cordwood intil the load limit is reached....dump them on the tarmack upon arrival. Quick turn-around and back home.

    Exactly, where is the common sense here? their math works different than ours, let's see pay to have supervised release, pay for Electronic monitoring, and for most, pay the total cost of living.

    The worst part about this is its unnecessary . Obama is doing this on purpose to give the American people some extra pain. campaigning around the country as if he wasn't the author of the sequester .
    He's getting the most pain for the most political gain.

    This is nothing more then a political stunt using the legal system in the Constitution as a prop to further his radical agenda.
    Because the Navy shipyard yesterday and claims that an 85,000,000,000 dollar cut out of a 4,000,000,000,000 dollar budget( damn that's a lot of zeros)
    Is going to cause him to shut down the Naval Shipyard, end vaccinations for children, and stop all school lunch programs.... he is a liar.
    The Democrats are fearful that this "cut" ( which is really not a cut it's pending slightly less then the average increase would be it's still spending more than the previous year)

    But Obama and his spoon machine in the state road Media will continue right up until the wire to go around and try to influence the stupid people and scare the faint of heart and convince the foolish that in a 4,000,000,000,000 dollar budget there is no room for less . meanwhile Americans are doing with less and have been doing so for the entire Obama administration while he and Michelle take separate vacations.

    the Senate has not submitted a budget since George Bush was president. this is the most corrupt Administration in the history of this nation. Nexl he'll tell little old ladies that the Republicans are forcing him to let all the rapists out of prison and fire all the police.
    This radical in the White House is using terror tactics against the American people and he is an enemy of the United States

    Our campaigner and chief is really getting on my nerves! This was his idea. The republicans already compromised on some tax hikes. They are doing the job they were elected to do. That is to obstruct jerks on issues like this! Bring the sequester on!

It's obvious to me that this is a move to garner support for their greed by playing on the fear machine created by them in order to incarcerate more people to stuff their already fat pockets more...

    I know I'm judging a book by it's cover, but the third guy in line doesn't look like a real wholesome "innocent dreamer" to me. Regardless, I find it funny that the ICE spokesman didn't say "with NO criminal history" just not "serious" criminal histories...disregarding the fact that even if they were model citizens from the moment they arrived here, which his statement suggests a few weren't, they're still ALL criminals because they broke U.S. law by entering illegally to begin with. Sigh.

    This is a classic governmental response to budget cuts. When threatened with less money, the government always makes cuts in popular, visible programs. The overarching question to ask is how many bureaucrats lose their jobs when a budget is cut? As the government keeps on growing, I doubt very many of them do.

    There have been no "cuts" yet and if they come, they are not cuts but a decrease in the increase of spending. Obama sees these criminals as potential democrat voters. Criminals voting for democrats, how appropriate.

    @Knight80 absolutelly, to vote in federal elections you must be a u.s. citizen. I suppose local or state givt could permit not citizens to vote in those elections, but I haven't heard of it, but in any case since he was talking of obama that implies federal elections.

    @PoliticalSpice I know what the law says, but it has been proven that some places have allowed illegals to vote. The law also says it's illegal to sneak across the border and be here in the U.S. But our old Pres says it's okay.

    Sorry, wealth, not political affiliation is a more likely factor. I had a friend who was as Democrat as you could get. Lesbian, lived in LA, going to college for filmmaking even though she already worked as an assistant for at least one big name star...and she hired a group of em to clean her house. I guess though since she hated Republicans, it was "giving them a helping hand" and not "exploiting cheap labor" right? Funny part is, she had the nerve to get upset when she found out they were stealing from her. As if her saintly generosity wasn't enough.

    Not serious criminals......wow a criminal is a criminal....so that mean the public in general goes to shooting to protect themselves against the not serious criminals does that make it not serious ? Its amazing these leaders and term used loosely can make it day to day let alone make decisions for the country as a whole
