Did you see who the parents of these children voted for? obama was reelected. This was a business teacher. The kids probably truly are idiots and the teacher was probably so frustrated and fed up trying to explain the concept of spending less than you take in.
  • !
Believe it or not, not every action or statement that makes a gun owner look psycho is all about politics. It is usually about a gun owner and psychosis not going well together.
  • !
@Neo_NtheMatrix I've seen you make some ridiculous stretches trying to smear Mr. Obama when the subject is something like butterflies or popcorn or clouds. But this has to be one of your most ludicrous attempts.
  • !
@Zazziness - You deny obama believes you can spend more than you bring in? The students were probably trying to tell the teacher that they are wrong. The teacher is trying to explain you can't spend what you don't have. I feel bad for the teacher. I honestly do.

@Penn1699 I gotta great GOP style idea. We'll outlaw the teacher's unions, decrease their pay, increase their class size, make them work all year round. And THEN we'll train them and give them all guns!
  • !
@PNWest no I am not after outlawing or decreasing pay.
However keeping their class sizes below 30 and having them work year round to get our children competing again with the rest of the world I am for.
A bit of common sense pertaining keeping teachers mental health stable is necessary for the welfare of children. Physically and developmentally necessary.
Common sense is needed. That's all I'm saying.
  • !
@PNWest Any teacher that cannot handle a pay cut when one is necessary, or working year round for crying outloud has no business in the job market! If teachers cannot handle real work or the other realities of the job market they are too immature to be teaching. I'm tired of this "teachers are so special they have to coddled" nonsense.

    Interesting...

Why do high school students have cell phones or smartphones on during school hours when they should be learning, instead of taking pictures to slant a story?

Fire the teacher and expell all the students in the class for the remainder of school year and make them repeat the grade the following year. Only effective way to make sure you get them all. Punish everyone and leave no stone unturned.
  • !
Are you kidding me? Fail the grade because they took their phone out? I'm pretty sure ANY teenage kid would have snapped a photo of their TEACHER calling them idiots, telling them the guns are loaded, and telling them to "try him". But no, lets punish the kids.
  • !
You are a fool. Punish kids for taking out their phones (or ipod or iPad) that they aren't using but have in their backpack or purse and taking a picture of a threat from a teacher? Congratulations! That is the dumbest thing I've read here today and there are some dumb things being said.
I'm a rule abider. If I was in school I wouldn't be texting or calling people during class. I would be using my phone as a calculator and homework schedule. Depending on the class and the assignment I would likely do some Internet research on it as well. Multiply that by a thousand if I had an iPad. There are probably dozens of ways that a student could be responsibly and productively using a phone during school hours. And even they didn't use it all during class it would be far from inappropriate to pull it out to take a picture of a threat from the teacher.
Students do wrong things and deserve to suffer consequences when they do. Only a fool thinks this was one of those things.
  • !
Fools write foolish things on "public" forums (like a chalkboard OR this forum). And that's what I'm calling you/your statement!
Phones need to be shut off during school.....BUT, I don't care who/what "threatens" me, when something like this is posted I'd expose it.
"Slant a story"....exactly what YOU do on way too many of your post....slant the story (IMO)......republicans slant the story.....democrats slant the story...both need to be "deported" out of this country!!!

@PNWest During class? Hmm.....perhaps a lesson in what is more psychologically threatening? What is more threatening in reality?
  • !
@Knightkore Thinking back I'm pretty sure that some of my teachers probably gave a thought or two to going 2nd amendment on me.

As always with Teachers Unions, the perp is on PAID leave. Any one working in the REAL world would have been fired. Public Employee Unions SUCK.

HMMM.....reminds me of a life story. Once broke the vice principle's nose! Long story short, he put his hands on me and I decked him in my senior year! All because I was 5 minutes late (my old 6 volt car wouldn't start that cold morning). Never was late before (I hate late...). Confronted me in parking lot, accused me of always late and decides to "escort" me to his office. He was looking at sky when he touched me!
He wanted to call police, my Mom said he'd be going to jail also (after hearing my/witnesses story)......he changed his mind quickly! LOL
  • !
@stepped_in_it But you weren't in a gang by 10 years old were you? these little hoodlums are not the same people as when we went to school and had the occasional confrontation.
  • !
@jessejaymes Hell no....Mom and Dad would've killed me and made another "stepped"! Kids now days are nothing more than hoodlums and parents are TOO! My "gang" was 5 or 6 people and the worse we did was "TP" a yard!!

...and that was just for the D students, imagine what she would have done if they had all flunked the test?
She should have included option <D> on the chalkboard:" My husband didn't tell me he switched back to caffeinated coffee!"
But on a more serious note, it doesn't read like a student handwriting. Look at all of the detail going on: 1) It matches the style of printing on the above non-related text, 2) there is a dot after the # and also there's a <)>, 3) All the lettering is in upper case- she was trying to make a point, 4) There's an over abundance of exclamation points 5) No misspellings. All of these things add up to a focused and concerted effort to get the point across, a student would not have been so meticulous or emphatic and who would have most likely been in a hurry.

I really don't care what the teachers say to these subhuman children out there who constitute the majority of kids I see in public. There is a near ZERO level of parenting going on. My granddaughter was standing in line at Baskin Robbins to pay for our cones when a little boy about twice her age pushed her out of the way and I said "excuse me young man, she's standing in line, the line is behind her". His response, fuck you and her both. That's our children of today. I can totally empathize with the teacher.

@MongoAPillager I demanded to know where the parent of that kid was and it turns out him and a buddy were without parental supervision. So I got the manager and got the kid thrown out. He started yelling and cursing me so I walked up close to him and said very quietly "how would you like your next birthday to be spent in a grave you little piece of shit? You move out that door or I move to take this gun out of my holster and put a cap in your ass". he then of course yelled over his shoulder that his mother was going to kill me as he ran.(shrug) Whatever.
  • !
@jessejaymes i 'd feel a little funny threatening a kid with a firearm, too bad you couldn,t have chatted with the parent,if the little monster saw his comfort/protection zone nullified it might have had life altering ramifications in the future as might criminal threatening charges for you : )

If you can not handle the job---Then go and do something else. I truly believe that this teacher probably "cracked under pressure"...And was properly removed from the class room. Students today can be a real nightmare...They certainly were in my days...And I'm sure much more difficult today. But that should mean that teachers need to be given the tools to deal with disruptive students and be backed up by the principal on this. Hell I have read accounts where a 6 year old was suspended for drawing a picture of a gun on a piece of paper...So I don't understand why any teacher would have to put up with some wild student in middle school...
  • !
Did you read the article on the link? He had been working for the school for 27 years...seems to me it is not an issue of not handling the job...it is the change in the way our youth views teachers and those of authority...
  • !
@jaybebo84 So what!--All that means is that he could no longer the job in his 28th year! At anyrate that still does not excuse him or any other teacher from behavior like this! No Excuses for this guy! NONE!
  • !
    @Sonny

Not trying to excuse him...just offering where he may be coming from on this situation...his actions are inexcusable...but I would assume you approve of the behavior of the students which may not show him the respect he likely deserved prior to this incident...
  • !
@jaybebo84 For your convenience, I have taken the liberty to cut & paste part of my original message again here.

This is what I said ("they certainly were in my days...And I'm sure much more difficult today. But that should mean that teachers need to be given the tools to deal with disruptive students and be backed up by the principal on this. Hell I have read accounts where a 6 year old was suspended for drawing a picture of a gun on a piece of paper...So I don't understand why any teacher would have to put up with some wild student in middle school...).

If this teacher was dealing with some disrespectful student then he should have availed him self of the remedies that were in place to deal with such situations.....Why is any of what I have said or any of that some sort of "point of contention" with you?
  • !
could be an inside joke with the class or tired of the kind of kids forced to be in that class. greed has taken over most school districts and instead of removing problem kids the teachers have to deal with mom and dads failure to teach their kids right from wrong before sending them to school.

some of those poor teachers have to deal with kids most of us would rather see locked up than be in the same room with.
  • !
You are idiots followed by 8 exclamation points - LOL!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of the movie "Teachers" where the crazy guy who escaped from the insane asylum winds up being the best teacher.
  • !
I had a similar thought - has anyone seen Keith Olbermann lately? Those kids probably have no idea what he looks like.
  • !
So are Union government teacher leaving these threatening messages for students , which elude to firearms, after the massacre at Sandy Hook... and according to officials there was no imminent danger. however if 1 of those kids would have made a finger gun he would have been expelled.
this teacher should be in jail. I'll bet he's a Democrat
  • !
@thumper11 you know with every other story in the news about guns you would think someone in the state controlled media would have mentioned this story.
  • !
Unfortunately you are wrong, he nmust be a republican. I know this because I have a teaching degree and business degree and know the courses required for both. The business degre has many of the same core classes required to teach business in school. Amongst those classes is economics, and you know as well as I do that no democrat as ever passed and economics class. Otherwise they could never support anything economic law Obama has done.
  • !
    Kids these days ARE idiots.
The gun comment was over the top, for sure, but the majority of kids know more about the train wreck Kardashians than real history. Or science. Or math. Or English. Or anything. Idiots.
  • !
And we are SURE the teacher wrote it, right? Because students have never been known to pull pranks. If he DID write it, I'd say he has no business teaching, or in any business that puts him in contact with kids. Kids have been known to drive people over the edge. Put together a class-full of Jake Harpers (Angus Jones, from "Two & A Half Men" show) and I can see why the guy went nutso.
  • !
"Supt. Dan DeHaven confirmed an Edison Junior-Senior High School teacher wrote a message..."

I'll admit that I've had days like that, but I usually would give them a pop quiz.
