Biden Tells AIPAC: Obama Will Go to War to Stop Iran Getting Nukes

Obama would go to war to prevent Iran getting a nuclear weapon, Biden reaffirmed in a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

"The president of the United States cannot, and does not, bluff," Biden told the lobbyists. That statement is evidently a rebuttal of the Republican charge that Obama is "leading from behind," and that threats towards Iran are all talk.

"Even as circumstances have changed, one thing has not: our deep commitment to the security of the state of Israel," Biden said. "That will not change as long as I and he are president and vice president of the United States. It's in our naked self-interest, beyond the moral imperative."

Biden tactfully didn't mention Hagel, who was a controversial Defense Sec. nominee because of past comments about the power of the "Jewish lobby." But the veep did tell AIPAC that they'd have "be happy" with new Sec. of State John Kerry.

Biden added that the president is "particularly looking forward to having a chance to hear directly from the people of Israel" during his trip to the country next month.

@Zazziness he is NOT very well respected among the higher ranking officers I know that have served in Afghanistan. But it is against regulations to speak against him. It's insubordination. And the NCO's especially the E-7's and above. Not a scientific survey bit those old Sargent Majors are fairly plugged in on things like this. They don't trust him to give the the support when things aren't politically favorable to him.

The Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1737 (2006) was established on 23 December 2006 to undertake the tasks set out in paragraph 18 of that same resolution. The mandate of the Committee has since been expanded to apply also to the measures imposed in resolutions 1747 (2007) and 1803 (2008) and to the measures decided in resolution 1929 (2010).

a proliferation-sensitive nuclear and ballistic missile programmes-related embargo;
a ban on the export/procurement of any arms and related materiel from Iran and a ban on the supply of the seven categories, as specified, of conventional weapons and related materiel to Iran;
a travel ban and an assets freeze on designated persons and entities. The assets freeze also applies to any individuals or entities acting on behalf of, or at the direction of, the designated persons and entities, and to entities owned or controlled by them.

It's the UN mandate.

Iran is one of the few problems in the US that cannot be traced back to the republicans. Jimmy Carter should have taken out Iran back in the 1970's when they took our people hostage. He should have given them 48 hours to release all of the hostages and then declared war and started bombing them if they did not comply. Had he done this Islamic Fundamentalism would have been nipped in the bud and we would probably have never seen the likes of Osama bin Laden who I might add was killed by this Democratic President. If Iran continues to work on getting nukes I have every confidence that Obama will do the right thing and take them out as our Vice President has said.
