May 20 NoAmnestyEVER v Not affected at All I wasn't affected. but both Republicans and Democrats agreed on the invasion as did most of the U.N. And as it turns out Saddam had shipped his WMDs to Syria, which is now using it on their own people. It was a justified war, fought against a PROVEN user of WMDs and it we got some oil out of the deal then God Bless America, we deserved it. Post
May 14 LEC v Not affected at All I had an interesting conversation with someone who said that the US did wars really good because we have had 10 years of war, didn't cost us anything, no draft and hardly a ripple in our lives. So his he right.. sure if you don't mind forgetting the debt piling up, the injured soldier's who can hardly get care, the fact that the rest of the world hates us more every year.. we have Homeland Security and the Patriot Act, can't get on a plane without a cavity search yet it still hasn't affected me at all.. but not to worry, if Congress doesn't start repealing this stuff it will affect us all sooner or later. May 9 Aftermath v Indirectly affected I sure slept better knowing the terrorist were over there, in the fighting. But when we gave up and came home...... That may come back to bite us in the ass. Let me tell you about kids and rock fighting. Say you have a problem with the kid down the street. So you gather up some good throwing rocks and head out. You see him coming out of his door and you let fly. Now he will cuss and scream and threaten you all day, but he won't leave. He will look for his chance to even the score. So you get tired and go home. Well boys and girls, I guarantee you he is already gathering his throwing rocks. . r1 reply Post

May 17 Ghost116 However, now that you know about it, know that it cost lives and a lot of money (your parents pay taxes) and it has forever shifted our role in foreign politics, wouldn't you say it affects you now? Just sayin... Lol Post @Ghost116

May 18 Ghost116 Is your view that we gave up? You do realize that the entire war wasn't based on terrorism or terrorists. That's why we went to Afghanistan. We went to Iraq originally because we were told Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. Where as I do agree he was a destabilizer for the entire region, what we did was by no means the way to do things. We set ourselves up for failure. So the two options we had were to either remain in that country getting more and more military service members killed and racking up our debt to untold of limits, or to draw down and exit, handing control of the country back to the government of Iraq. We went after terrorists in Afghanistan, Iraq ha... Post @Ghost116
Apr 30 Fallstaff v Indirectly affected We all have been affected by the Iraq War. The bravery of our military, and allies like Great Britain, have held the terrorists in check over there so we didn't have any new 9-11's. That is until a Muslim terrorist was elected and LET attacks happen here. Think Obama's incompetence and Benghazi. Think Obama's complicity and the Boston Marathon Massacre. IMPEACH COMRADE OBAMA NOW!!! r1 reply Post
May 18 Ghost116 Thank you for the support. One correction, we weren't in It's a because of terrorists. We were in Afghanistan to fight terrorists. We went to Iraq on the premise of a lie. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Post @Ghost116

Apr '13 TruthGrasper v Indirectly affected Back in 2004 while I was attending college, Army recruiters were walking the hallways looking for potential soldiers. I agreed to enlist, but was disqualified at processing by the doctor during the interview and mental examination because of my honesty and full disclosure of facts, and so was rejected for enlistment. At that time it was about a year after my conversion to Christianity, and I thought that I needed the money to pay for tuition, though my feelings regarding warfare and fighting were mostly hesitant and pacifistic. I knew that invading and occupying Iraq would not bring an end to terrorism, and that Islam would continue to increase and churn out zealous ji... r1 reply Post

It influences the economy in both positive and negative ways. The sight of bombs decimating a city on the nightly news in YOUR name has to impact you somehow. e2 endorsed Post
