Dr. Ben Carson is backtracking from his comments Tuesday that compared the drive for gay marriage to support for bestiality, reportsPolitico.
Performing his mea culpa on the appropriate network, MSNBC, Carson stated:
As a Christian, I have a duty to love all people and that includes people who have other sexual orientations, and I certainly do, and never had any intention of offending anyone...If anyone was offended, I apologize to you.
Carson claims he was taken out of context in his interview with Sean Hannity, and "completely misunderstood" in terms of what he was trying to say when he stated that "no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality" have a right to change the definition of marriage as that between a man and a woman.
Mr. Carson shouldnt have had to apologize for anything, The left has said far far worse and just gotten by,, So that should go for the right also. We do not need a liberal double standard anymore....Period!!
This is standard procedure of the left. He scares them and they are trying to destroy him. I heard what he said and it was totally blown out of context. Nothing scares a liberal democrat like a conservative black man.
I will give anyone who posts on this forum 1,000.00 dollars if they prove they went to any mall with a microphone and spoke for 10 minutes each on their views on poltiics, guns, gays and illegals and don't offend anyone. It can't be done. You people need to get off your high horses. Nobody is perfect and nobody goes throughout their lives without offending someone about something. ENOUGH you intolerant communists. ENOUGH you intolerant Nazis. And you all know which is which.
You've got it a bit twisted, old friend.......It was HE---who exposed HIS Intolerance!!---I mean, if nothing else----the facts clearly show that he did indeed say what he said......And if people were (rightly) offended...Its not their "intolerance" ---It was HIS for saying something as stupid and ignorant as he did..........
@zachsquatch Oh, and people who "snarf" at him, don't have a right to say what they believe?!?---Why should only HE be allowed to "believe whatever the hell he wants"---But no one else can?!?!----Where is it in the Constitution that says----"Only some people are created Equal, and have rights"?---------Where is it in the Constitution ---that says "only some people have the right to free speech"----Where is any of that?
He made a gay beastiality remark? No!!!!! Can we ever have atleast one good conservative that isn't stupid? Damn it! Stop it with the social conservatism already! It is a bad standard for conservatism!
@EzraBlade I'll agree that the Dr. is very smart and accomplished, but the term applies if he made a remark counter productive to conservatism like that. In all fairness I will see if I can find the actual interview in its entirety before judging though.
Last I checked, this was America and as an American, he has the freedom to say anything he'd like. Was it rude and not very appropriate, of course, but he's entitled to his opinion. Being a republican I've heard many things that have offended me, and rarely received an apology, but I lived; so will everyone else.
@Gravedigger I think most gat folks are pretty okay with public opinion on it. We just want equal rights, feel free to think what you like about me personally, but don't continue to treat my marriage as less than yours legally. Get it?
This clown is some kind of expert on bestiality? Of course the idiots will forgive him. They had no problem voting for romney who, at the age of 17, walked a blind person into a door as a "prank". There isn't any kind of major party in the civilised world that would touch romney as a candidate after that story surfaced but american's have no problem with bullying somebody disabled / weaker than them.
You seem to expect a perfect country. When will that happen? When gays own everything? is that your agenda? What about them doing or saying something I don't approve of. Do they bear the same responsibility to me that this man bears to your opinion?
@Gravedigger Yah? Was there a point to that comment? Because if it was aimed at me, I couldn't care less, I didn't vote for him. You can insult him till you can't type anymore from soreness. Not gonna hurt my feelings bud.
Why apologize? I respected the man. He didn't do anything wrong. Only a warped twisted mind misunderstood what Carson was talking about. It only goes to prove that the media goes hard after any black person goes off the plantation. Once a black person starts speaking truth, the media has its knives drawn.
Nope!----Not good enough!---He has a great job as a first class surgeon...And, frankly---he had "better not quit his day job"---Because a second career in politics will NEVER be an option for him, as long as he lives in Maryland.....
Maybe, but it is what most people think. He just said it on the national stage. Nearly everyone I have ever spoken to about homosexuality, see it as a sexual fetish. At the same time, they could care less about the issue..... As do I.
@FollowTheMoney No, it's not what most people think, it is what bigoted morons think. A majority of the population see sexuality for what it is, and inherent trait, and support the notion of equality for homosexuals; in part because it is required by the US Constitution.
@Litdes Well if you believe what see in the main stream media as what most people think, then I can understand why you would say that. "Bigoted Morons" ? OK, then nearly every person I've ever spoken to about the issue are "Bigoted Morons". I suppose I fall into that category as well. Because, frankly I could care less about the issue, other than I think all social issues should be decided at the state level and not at the federal level.
@FollowTheMoney It is clear that you "could" care less about the issue, if you couldn't, then you would not comment. One wonders why you speak on the issue at all, or why you feel it has any impact upon you. Anyone who advances an argument for fellow citizens to be held as second-class citizens with less than equal protection of the laws is a bigoted moron, plain and simple. It is an unconstitutional argument, and a bigoted on. The status as a moron, is simply my personal opinion, however I have a first amendment right to hold that position, just as you hold a first amendment right to hold an opinion that make you a bigoted moron.
@Litdes Some think that homosexuality is a sexual fetish, and some don't. People will never ever agree on the issue. The only reason the issue has reached such a prominent place on the national stage, is that those that have nothing to gain supporting gayness as a legitimate legal status, don't get involved.
I only care about the issue because it is being used as a political football by the professional politician. They use it as a means to sell or trade law for political capital. Thus distracting them from what they need to be doing, fixing the problems they have created in our economy, foreign relations and national security.
The social engineering needs to be left to the States, that is if the States even chose to address social issues or not.
I' afraid not, old friend...The tide is already starting to shift away from him........"Johns Hopkins students are campaigning to have Dr. Ben Carson pulled from this year's commencement speaker line-up, in response to comments the well-known neurosurgeon, a critic of the Obama administration, made about gay marriage..."
He doesn't (now) mean to be offensive, however his views are still going to be offensive to people who resist his particular religious interpretation of the term marriage. He portrays himself as standing up for a Biblical definition of marriage, forgetting that Solomon had 700 wives. He claims to protect an institution without denying anyone any rights; however he refuses to address the hundreds of laws and privileges that a gay couple in a committed relationship cannot access because they are not legally married.
He shouldn't even have to explain himself! This whole thing is stupid! He is being oppressed for his beliefs! Liberals always talk about how gays and other minorities are being oppressed, but look what the media is doing to this guy! Just let it go! But first, somebody punch Andrea Mitchell!
He doesn't have to explain himself, he wanted to explain himself. I missed the part where he was fired, imprisoned or flogged in the city square... I hope you don't equate criticism with oppression. If I say the earth is flat, you are not oppressing me by pointing out that I am wrong.
@Romney2012 Either. You can reject what I say and ignore it, you can say that I'm wrong, you can even say that I'm being a bigot for holding that view. You only venture into the realm of oppression when you attempt to use force to keep me from saying it.
Outstanding...I hope the Republicans run him for Pope of the world....but God says...but God says...but God says...well our laws in some States reflect differently...the SC is about to rule...I think one more State will say SSMarriage...It think DOMA is DEAD...I think other States will rapidly begin to fall on legal grounds as well popular vote...both ways..very Bi.....see we are a Republic...based upon a democracy...no Theocracy...when Gods rule mankind suffers...History proves it
