Martin Luther King at the March on Washington • Time
Thousands descended on Washington DC's National Mall to recreate the March on Washington and commemorate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
In 1963, 250,000 Americans marched for "jobs and freedom" and well as African American civil rights. Today people are marching for different reasons.
Some are protesting the "stand your ground" laws that allowed George Zimmerman to walk free after killing Trayvon Martin, USA Today reports. Others want to combat voter ID laws and other measure that might infringe on voting rights. Still others want more done to combat poverty and unemployment among the working class.
The march is led by the Rev. Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III. Some of those who marched in 1973 were in the crowd today.
If MLK were alive today, he'd cry over how his idea of "judged not by the color of your skin, but the content of your character" has been hijacked by the race baiters like Sharpton, Jackson, Obama, etc.
People like Charlton Heston marched with MLK, but today the so called black civil rights movement has racist groups like the Black Panthers marching with them, and nobody of any character anymore.
Just imagine if white pride parades, white history month, white colleges, white racist organizations, etc. were to happen, what would the communist controlled media say?????????? These people are perpetuating racism for their own political agendas and monetary gain.
"If no racism exits, then invent some." - guess who.
I would bet that he would not be too happy about the 70% out of wed lock birth in the black society? He also would not be excusing the black on black murder that sharpton and his cohorts seem to excuse.
@Concerned_Cit It wasn't until I read your post that I realized I feel sorry for White people. You don't get to have White Pride parades. Well, unless you consider St. Patrick's Day a parade that celebrates white heritage.
I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to go through 12 plus years of education and never hearing about the accomplishment that white people achieved. I remember after graduating high school, how difficult it was to find a college where whites were the overwhelming majority. There were only fifty or sixty colleges in my state run by white people.
Sometimes I think I'd like to be somewhere I could be surrounded by other white racists. Not online sites like Politix, but in person. Thankfully, the KKK is still around.
I worry about white children and the lack of white role models for them in the media. When you go to the movies or turn on the television, it must take you seconds, sometimes three to find a show that features people that look like you. Black people have it so easy, they have BET and...and...and... Well, they have BET and that's racist. Of course, no one is stopping you from watching BET and it's not as if there aren't hundreds of other channels showing shows featuring whites, but that's beside the point.
Whites have had it bad at this countries, for hundreds of years they've wanted to live in the same neighborhoods with Blacks, work beside them, and worship with them as fellow children of God. Whites welcomed Blacks to share their classroom, join the same sorority their daughters did, march in their parades, and enter their beauty contests.
But the racist Blacks declined. They wanted to be segregated and forced to start their own schools, organizations, and churches. I could never understand why Blacks were so selfish that they took a whole month to celebrate the achievements of their ancestors. It was obvious from looking in a history book how much Whites appreciated their contributions to American History. There was Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, MLK, Can't forget the peanut guy. Why wouldn't Black kids feel like a part of America when the had 4 whole people to admire?
If Whites took one third as much time pondering how our country's racist and separatist history brought us to this point instead of whining because Blacks have some institutions and entities that thrive without White control, racial reconciliation might be feasible.
FYI, the NAACP was founded by White people as were many Black colleges. The More You Know.
@drpeeper I guess the black culture has just failed to take advantage of all the gains won in the 60's. Affirmative Action, voters rights' equal employment all now rendered impotent and worthless by your cohorts. As you said, black culture has descended to absentee parents, parents so ignorant or drugged up they are incapable of parenting, record numbers of black youth incarcerated, teen pregnancy, unwanted children being born due to closing of abortion clinic, record black unemployment. The culture has a dismissal success in educating the youth of the cities they control politically. Pretty piss poor record of accomplishment
Now pre school education and feeding of the less fortunate children from these dysfunctional homes is viewed as encouraging dependence, and too expensive. who are .the great philanthropists contributing to black education. Guess who, those damn money changers, not black entrepreneurs, and sure as hell not the hip hop stars they are al about me me me, few pro athletes DO give back but you choose to bite the helping hand that feed you bite the hand that feeds them. MONEY CHANGER BS...Please tell us w h y. bite the hand trying to help break the endless cycle of poverty you. Your political party wants to do nothing --- bizarre politics prison and college costs are nearly equal
Af least MLK knew where to go when he needed $,s He went to the money changers, many of whom marched with him. Remember Micky Schwerner? Andrew Goodman kivie Kaplan, head of NAACP, Stan Leveison key advisor to MLK. I doubt it you'd rater deat in hate and distrust. Those money chargers are from a culture that has survived 3900 years in spite of numerous attempts to annihilate them from the face of the Earth . Some how those Jews were able to survive! not only survive but to continue to be the leaders in science medicine , education, math banking, etc. unlike the black culture which wallows leaderless at the bottom of the socio- economic scale, both domestically and globally. Could it be because those money changers, much like Orientals value education, not drugs, hoodies and unwanted kids
Who's fault is it that Sharpton & Jackson are on top of the leadership scale and can some how draw a ground of blacks and self serving political pigs exploiting MLKs memory.
You couldn't be more wrong. he would march hand in hand with the Tea Party. he was far more conservative than you leftists will allow the new generation to believe. that's why people like Al Sharpton Jesse Jackson and the new black pansies have all tried to hijack his message.
Martin Luther King's own niece, Dr. Alveda C. King, says her uncle was Republican.
Here is some information you may find interesting, also from The National Black Republican Association:

The First Blacks In Congress Were All Republicans
The seven African Americans elected to the 41st and 42nd U.S. Congress. Currier and Ives original 1872 Image.
Hiram Rhodes Revels of Mississippi was the first black elected as a United States senator, serving from 1870-1871 as a Republican. Revels completed the unfinished term of Jefferson Davis who was the former president of the confederacy. He was followed in the Senate by Republican Blanche K. Bruce, also of Mississippi. Republican Joseph Rainey of South Carolina was the first black to enter the House of Representatives.
Below is a list of the black Republicans elected to Congress during the Reconstruction era. Their lifespan is shown in parenthesis.
Not nearly as many when MLK spoke 50 years ago.Guess a lot of those that couldnt make it were filling out job applications to turn in Monday? That or those that have the freedom to live off the government could care less. Not all but many resent that crazy request King made to not judge by the color of ones skin but judge by their character.
self determination, less welfare, men taking responsibility for their children, the end to using athletes and rappers as heros and idols. The value of a family unit, censored rap music, moral values, ethics, Prayer in school, community service.... he would be ashamed Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were speaking in his name, he would explain he fought for an equal opportunity to be successful not a hand out.
King would be calling for Obama's impeachment, for his support of abortion, increased racial division, promoting homosexuality, unethical promotions and advancements, his lack of leadership, attacks on factory workers, coal miners, gun owners, American interests, labor force. He would also be speaking out against private for profit prison, official corruption, increased black market driven law enforcement corruption.
So then according to the author of this story none of the marchers were there to stop black on white crime or black on black crime which should dominate the news across this country but doesn't because it doesn't fit the agenda... but the dishonest author does put in minor details of the Zimmerman trial I suppose just for affect... not a word about shorty.. The World War 2 veteran beaten to death by two black savages the other night ..
Since Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican, he should organize a black Republican voter registration drive.
The following is from The National Black Republican Association:

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican
News in Brief In “A Covenant With Life: Reclaiming MLK’s Legacy”, Dr. Alveda C. King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., states:“My grandfather, Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr., or ‘Daddy King’, was a Republican and father of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was a Republican.” http://cache.trustedpartner.com/docs/library/... http://www.nbra.info/
Since MLK was a devout Christian and a Baptist Preacher he would have probably rallied the Black's against the deception of the Democrats welfare plantations and Obama's policies as well as condemned men like Al sharplessone and Jesse Jackasston!
@BravoJuliet Yeah, some of these folks that claim having an ID is a burden and racist for exercising their right to vote have no issue with me being background checked, fingerprinted, registered, having an ID to exercise my 2nd amendment rights.
What if we required all voters to be fingerprinted when they vote? How about being background checked? How about having to pay a tax to vote?
For every action, there's a reaction. For crimes committed by Blacks against Whites, there will naturally be resentment by Whites who rightfully object to thug-wannabe and BURGLAR Trayvon Martin being portrayed as an innocent victim of racism while they ignore Blacks killing Blacks by the THOUSANDS and Black on White, and Hispanic crime. You would be surprised to find out how many assaults and homicides of Hispanics are committed by Blacks who are aware they send wire transfers home to Mexico and wait for them to go to places like American Express offices, etc. to wire their cash home. It's been on one of those TV news magazines either 24 hours, 20/20 or another.
And look at the Ayo Kimathi web site to see the kind of agitation to commit hate crimes that is being condoned by I.C.E. and the Obama Administration on the part of one of its employees. www.waronthehorizon.com Couple this with Nation of Islam hate rhetoric, and the agitation conducted by President Obama and US Attorney General Eric Holder in the Trayvon Martin case, a PROLIFERATION of murders of Whites by Blacks and that may help you understand some of the comments on here.
Perhaps many are waiting on the million man muslim march on 911 and decided to wait? Those that did not my have chose to reflect on MLK with family and friends inside the safety of their own homes? After all it is washington DC in the 21st century .
He wouldn't march for gun control, because he was an advocate for equal rights, not removing the rights of others, who himself owned guns. Given the state of blacks in America today, specifically the entitlement attitude and lack of respect for self and others that is so common among young black people, I would think Dr. King would likely march AGAINST all of the rap idiots, race baiters, and entitlement program advocates who bring black folks down.
I have a dream too. I have a dream that someday teenage gangsta wannabe punks won't shoot 2 year old babies in the head; that someday teenage gangsta wannabe punks won't shoot visiting foreign athletes to death because they're bored; that someday teenage gangsta wannabe punks won't rob and beat to death 88-year old honorably-discharged WWII Veterans; that someday REAL crack and meth-dealing gagnsta punks won't be killing each other to the tune of 8,900 per year (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and moron politicians won't use their drug-trafficking related carnage to try to deprive American citizens of their God-given right to self-defense and firearms' ownership. I have a dream....!!!
