Obamacare is so unpopular in Kentucky that government officials have been marketing it under a new name - Kynect. And it turns out that rebranded as Kynect, Obamacare is going over pretty well.
One middle-aged man heard about Kynect for the first time at Kentucky State Fair. He told workers, "this beats Obamacare I hope" after hearing the impressive benefits of the new law. At one point, people were crowding up to the Kynect booth 18 deep, the Huffington Postreports.
Reina Diaz-Dempsey, who ran the Kynect booth, has a "secret weapon": she gives out pretty tote bags emblazoned with Kynect logo and Kentuckians under a cheerful sun. In just 7 days at the fair she gave out ~15,000 bags. Diaz-Dempsey only gives bags to people who have listened to her 3-sentence pitch:
We are Kynect - part of the new health care law. Do you know anyone who doesn't have health insurance? You may qualify for Medicaid or a tax credit based on your income.
@ErnestPayne the evidence is that people were willing to listen to a three sentence sales pitch and accept free stuff based on that sales pitch. Just like when obamacare first hit the legislature, once people find out what is in it, it will change their minds...
There must be a mistake. Abraham Lincoln was way to smart to come from a state with people so dense in the head that can't figure out that it's exactly the same thing as Obamacare. Just listen to the woman's sales pitch.
"Duhhh h¿¿ Which way did he go? Where is my lit - tle bun - ny wabbit?"
@Laradian When the average person has no idea what obamacare is other than some vague notion of the boogeyman coming to jump out of their closet and get them in the middle of the night what do you expect?
@frigginhell So, activists flat out lie to people..tell them "no no, this isn't Obamacare" and then cherry pick what they tell them abt and you call the citizens stupid instead of calling the group, who's doing this bait and switch, pieces of sht? Says a lot. More of that liberal "moral superiority"...
@Slowmo A rose called by any other name still smells just as sweet.. You only oppose it because the black man in the white house proposed it. When Geo Bush (41) proposed it, ya'll bought it hook, line and sinker. Just sayin'
@ErnestPayne Idiotic response! Do you work for a living? Pay the costs of family healthcare? You know who will paying that 40% tax for subsidized healthcare? Working people. Seems Obamacare is unpopular here because Kentuckians are smart enough to have figured that out, along with 55 million illegal to legal immigrants this admin wants to take out of your check to pay for.
Kentuckians are courteous enough to listen to an opposing viewpoint & graciously accept a free gift. None of that means they agree with the legislation. The left feels the need to try to trick people into agreeing with them but most are on to their underhanded desperation.
@Keyjo what makes you think we liked it? It was the same as obamacare with a few minor differences. Government needs to stay out of our healthcare system. Before they got involved it was cheap and affordable
It's reminds me of my cat! If his dry food sits in the dish more that half a day, he won't eat it. But if I dump the bowl back in the big bag and then back into the bowl, he thinks it's fresh and eats it! Okay, Daniel Boon was from Kentucky; I can respect that!
So... handing out FREE tote bags means Kentuckians like Obamacare but only under a different name... please. People like free stuff, not Obamacare.. nice try though.. trying to make the population of an entire state seem ignorant.
It is the "Judging a Book by the Cover", equivalent. Give a book a cover people don't like and they won't buy the book. Give it a new cover that is more psychologically appealing, though the contents are the same as the original book with the different cover, and people will buy it. It's called marketing.
So, activists flat out lie to people..tell them "no no, this isn't Obamacare" and then cherry pick what they tell them abt and you call the citizens stupid instead of calling the group, who's doing this bait and switch, pieces of sht? Says a lot. More of that liberal "moral superiority"...
They're just going to 'rename' it and low info voters won't know the difference. That's the Obama admin., he has to go through the 'back door'( no pun ) to get anything approved. Typical Chicago politician, eh???>
@Slowmo I agree, it's like the old 'snake oil salesmen'. I think it's funny that people think Kentuckians are so stupid and backwoods. My sister-in-law was born there, only because my in-laws were living there due to a job transfer... She is a college graduate, was second chair in the Chicago Symphony, married into an old money family. lives in a huge home w/ acres of woods & a huge pond, and is the epitome of class...and yep, born in Kentucky. They have beautiful 'blue' grass and horses, and some highly intelligent people, just like any other state.
@mimi57 well..that just isn't possible. Lol. Everyone knows liberals have a monopoly on moral superiority...as plainly showcased by this bait and switch car salesman tactic. And, instead of calling out the method as sneaky, underhanded, and dishonest, they champion the people who are doing it and call the citizens stupid. Disgusting.
@Slowmo Yes, and do not, I repeat, DO NOT question the motives behind any of these 'scams'.'We The People', are fast becoming 'We The Peons'. Now sit down and shut-up, and KNOW YOUR SOCIETAL POSITION!!!( joking, but true in reality) (=
Do you honestly believe they fully conveyed ACA in 3 sentences?
1. A sales pitch is made. People express interest in what is promised. 2. After looking into the service, they decide it wasnt as good as the salespeople promised. 3. The sales people rename it, do another short sales pitch of its alleged benefits. People express interest in it and accept packets containing information. 4. People look into it, find out they dont like it.
You are trying to take a snapshot of step 3 and claim everyone is fully informed and fully supports the service. Any time you offer something for "free," it will grab peoples attention...
It's Obama's name that they find issue with. They don't want to be associated with the name in any way, however if it came down to them being sick in some form or needing medication, they would sign up rather than die. A combination of stubborness and ignorance.
The name of the law is "The Affordable Care Act." What opponents of the law KNOW is that it does not make care "affordable"; it's a lie, and we are wise to that fact. Facts have NO color. People who understand it is a lie are NOT ignorant.
So you think sfter s 3 sentence sales pitch they were fully informed of what the law does, and their acceptance of a free packet of more info is evidence that they support it 100%? Youve never accepted a flyer for something and shortly after decide you were not interested?
But THEY are the morons who started calling the ACA by the name Obamacare! So they shot themselves in the foot by foolishly rejecting a measure by Obama that's actually trying to help their uninsured @$$e$!
Everyone loves Obamacare.... as long as you only talk about the benefits. Once you sit down and look beyond the gloss you see cost, government expansion, business opting out, unions opting out, cut hours, doctors closing shop, projected longer wait times, and people losing their current coverage. I could sell anything to anyone if only one side of the story was used.
@DrNickels ...me, I don't believe in it. I've never had it, and never want it. There's even a saying about women who marry for 'money'. I did ( once )... " If you marry for money, you'll earn every cent of it". I did, and to believe ANYTHING is free, is stupid, I don't care where you live.
@DrNickels ...never was, never will be, and the cost of lives is worth so much more than any material thing. If we get into this, it will not be good. We can not afford it. We can't afford Obamacare either, the government can't do anything efficiently...it's too broad and bloated to do anything on an individual level. It will hurt far more than it will help.
Hahaha! So they listened to a three sentence speech, then accepted free stuff, and that means they un approve? With obamacare, they rolled out the fraudulent benefits, but as people learned of the negative effects it lost tv support... So now they are renaming it, rolling out the fake benefots again, and hoping people dont notice. What do they think they are proving?
All they proved is people are willing to listen to someone speak three sentences for a free tote bag. The fact the liberals think this is so great and people just don't like Obama just shows how truly ignorant they are.
@YouSickenMe the whole thing is dishonest as hell. Obamacare is such a disaster that people are immediately interested in anything that will replace it... So they rename obamacare, propose it as a substitution for obamacare, say 3 sentences about it, and naturally people are interested in learning more... Then they use that interest as "evidence" that people actually support obamacare, as if they conveyed the whole law in 3 sentences....
@YouSickenMe "All they proved..." was that they'll say "no no, it's not Obamacare" and then cherry pick what they tell people in order to sell it. In other words..lie their asses off. More of that liberal moral superiority.
