As many as 1.7 million illegal immigrants are preparing to apply for a temporary reprieve from deportation that the Obama administration is offering, The New York Times reports.

An executive order issued by President Obama in June grants two-year deportation deferrals and work permits to illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. It officially starts on Wednesday, when a federal immigration agency will begin accepting requests.

    More deportations under Obama in 4 years than Bush in 8... yet he's 'soft'? Reagan granted full amnesty and citizenship.

    i am for the harshest thing that can be done in deporting illegal aliens. they do not deserve to be treated nice,we already do that and proven it to be a failure. punishment and harsh penalty for ever coming back,life for the return would be justice.

    Allowing illegals to stay without securing the border is merely an invitation and incentive for more illegals to come to our country. We need to control who and what comes into our country, it is a basic duty of our federal government. Why is that we cannot secure our border, but we can secure the border of S Korea? At no charge may I add.

    C'mon! Obama wants as many non-whites in this country as possible. Why? Because it weakens the white vote and give Dems more votes. He wants to disenfranchise and displace the white population in America. Any white person who votes for Obama or the Dem party is a self hating traitor.

    The roman empire of 2012 bad governing. Executive powers negating U.S. established immigration laws. Every American who is unemployed at this moment will be hurting longer. borrac husain obama did this out of pure desperation for votes. All latino Amercans got slapped in their faces. We live in a country govern by laws! The latino Americans are very offended by your cheap desperate trick to obtain their votes. And NO borrac husain obama you; you are not above established American immigration laws!!

    Obama is too soft. However, like Ace pointed out, he's been tougher than Bush. And Reagan did grant blanket amnesty.

    I’m Sorry,,What’s That Number For Unemployed Young Adults In The U.S.??
    Oh’Yeah… The youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year olds specifically (NSA) for May 2012 is 12.1 percent ( some reports have it at 18 percent). The declining labor participation rate has created an additional 1.7 million young adults that are not counted as "unemployed" by BLS because they are not in the labor force, meaning that those young people have given up looking for work due to the lack of jobs. If the labor force participation rate were factored into the overall 18-29 youth unemployment calculation, the actual 18-29 unemployment rate would rise to 16.9 percent (NSA).     The unemployment rate here in Las Vegas NV is 13%. NV also has the largest percentage of illegal aliens working in the country. This just goes to show you that the government is not serious about solving unemployment.

    Unemployment is as all Americans already know unexceptionally high. I have many friends that are unemployed. These are hard times for unemployed Americans. What borrac husain obama just did was to prolong the anguish and torments of the Americans that are unemployed. borrac husain obama, LET ME REMIND YOU; THE BEST SOCIAL PROGRAM IN THIS GREAT COUNTRY WE LIVE IN IS A.........JOB!.....

    @Wilberhum Mr.Wilberhum I'm currently a volunteer. For six years now I have been deeply involved in helping those less fortunate than I. I am a retired pilot and now I teach the science of flight to young AMERICANS;I do this free of charge. So, Mr.humm I am not in need of any job picking lettuces. The young AMERICANS coming up now are the ones in desperate need of future jobs. And to answer your second question my family is worthy. last year alone my sisters and I gave to the homeless and the unemployed in need more than borrac husain obamas salary!!

    well under the obama administration, there has been a severe increase in illegal aliens. so much for the, record number of deportations. so much they can't, even handle it all.

    This policy is like a carton of milk, it has a expiration date on it and one day it's going to turn sour while Obama's on his way out of the door with no forwarding address. Illegal aliens are so gullible.
