What could be more American than watching a Coca Cola ad during the Superbowl? Oh, well, pretty much anything, according to some conservatives who were outraged that the commercial featured people singing the words to "America the beautiful" in Spanish, English, Arabic, and other languages.
Former Tea Party Congress member Allen West wrote about his "disturbing" experience watching the ad: "Then the words went from English to languages I didn't recognize."
"If we cannot be proud enough as a country to sing 'American the Beautiful' in English in a commercial during the Super Bowl, by a company as American as they come - doggone we are on the road to perdition. This was a truly disturbing commercial for me."Fox News host Todd Starnes' dislike of the ad bubbled over on Twitter:
Couldn't make out that song they were singing. I only speak English.- toddstarnes (@toddstarnes) February 3, 2014

So was Coca-Cola saying America is beautiful because new immigrants don't learn to speak English?- toddstarnes (@toddstarnes) February 3, 2014
