10%, no excuses. Everyone has skin in the game and there are no loopholes, kickbacks, deductions, scams, etc. Simple as that. We can get rid of the IRS bureaucracy and everyone knows what they owe on tax day. When everyone is responsible to pay something then people think twice about hiking the tax rate up into the stratosphere. When only the wealthy are expected to pay, guess what?

The problem with any percentage being capped, is that I beleive when the income tax was first enacted to pay for ww1, there were people saying then yeah, they want 1% right now, whos to say one day it might not be 10%. I wish my current 36% was only 10, thats what they'll do with a flat tax. I prefer a sales tax. I think it is the fairest tax because it gets everybody, not just people claiming withholding.

@justapirate Because in a true 'flat tax' system all taxes are rolled into personal income. That includes income taxes, FICA, the employer contribution of FICA, and corporate taxes.
