I support all laws that get guns into the hands or regular law abiding citizens. This case is one where the faster the person gets the gun the safer she will be.

@MongoAPillager This is true..I knew a man whose wife put a scar across his forehead. He told me he had figured out how he could leave his job, go home and kill her, and return to work without anybody knowing he was gone. He didn't do it but it was all had to even tell me what had happened. And I never would have guessed because he's such a macho man.

@dances-weebles -- answering your question ffrom the other thread that got too long...

I know you're a Christian. You've never been shy about that. I like that. And that's a rarity for a lot of Americans. They keep it close to their vest because the they are ashamed of the Christians who aren't ashamed of the label or afraid to be talk about their faith.

Most talk from the Left in a political context about Christianity is aimed at those people. But it sure sounds like you're going after the whole religion.

@Bobolinsky i've been studying and teaching my religion for over 3 decades now and even though i recently retired from the pulpit, i'm still quite active in our church... and very proud of it. i think that the nicest part of it is that we don't stand on doctrine or dogma. anybody and everybody from any religious background is welcome to study and to worship with us... and also to teach us about their beliefs. we host atheists, agnostics, catholics, baptists, a couple of hindus and some folks who celebrate the aboriginal religions native to brasil. we also have african religions, and even some methodists, jews, and even a couple of catholic priests and a handful of nuns who celebrate their faith with us.

and do you know what i've noticed, when members of our congregation are the first to show up during a flood nobody ever asks them if they're a christian or an atheist or even a muslim while they're being carried to safety.

This is literally a "DUH" moment. I've not made any secret of my feelings concerning firearms and Second Amendment rights. I'm proud...!! Please give these people more ways with which to protect themselves...!!!

And to be crystal clear, I own several guns and grew up around them and am well aware how to operate and use one. This issue is about giving a man or a woman the right to defend themselves against an abuser. But it does NOTHING to protect the victim once they have shot and/or killed their attacker.
