Rickles is a comedy legend and has done sarcasm an satire since before most of us were born. Nobody gets upset over Maher's comments or Chris Matthews' liberal rants. Yup, that's why its called free speech. Even if you font like what someone says. This is like the Kramer thing a few years back. Lighten up. Are we really so thin skinned that we need censorship on everything because if that's true, then we are no longer a republic.

". Nobody gets upset over Maher's comments"

Except Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reily, and the other talking heads over at Fox Faux-News.

No one in the MSM. For example, last week during a nationally televised interview, comedian Chris Rock called Obama a zebra. Then said everyone forgets Obama is white. Followed by " there's a whole lot of whiteness in his blackness, that's why he's a zebra." You hearing any backlash? No. Imagine if Rickles had said that.

We're actually not "upset" about Maher's comments. We're troubled by the hypocrisy, double standards, and bigotry of the Left.

Maher gave $1 M to a pro Obama super pac. Obama has refused to distance himself.

Limbaugh tried to become a minority owner of the Rams a few years ago, the public backlash scuttled the deal.

Where was the public outrage when Maher recently bought a small piece of the NY Mets?

I agree. Though I must say...it's amusing how quickly this went from a 'free speech' discussion to a 'hate on Bill Maher' discussion.

But I love Don Rickles. He's goddamn hilarious.

Funny how any jokes are deemed offensive if the 0bamasiah is involved. Yet, any other pols (primarily of the GOP Brand) are open game. Sorry, but my thing is if you can take it, then you shouldn't dish it. I also found this joke by Rickles to be funny, even more ironic because 0bama hasn't lifted a single finger any day in his life (except to screw things up).

Really, most who are finding everything to be racist are not even Black, but rich, white liberals who make the problem look larger than it is for power.

I was brought up with Rickles and the rest of the group that straddled the edge. Humor from the 50's, 60's, and 70's was the best of all. You did not have to use a gutter linguistic theme to get a laugh. We poked fun at each other, and sometimes it may have seemed a little "raw", but we were still able to laugh at each other, but most importantly at ourselves! I know, I know, times were different. And we, sadly, made the difference. Now everyone is "sooo sensitive" to comic "situations" that jokes have lost their true hilariousness and ridiculousness that made you sometimes feel embarrassed to laugh. But you laughed regardless. Why? Because it was funny and so very true. Now you may want to laugh but catch yourself and say, "What will people think if I laugh?" We are now afraid to laugh....... Where are you, Cid Ceasar, Henny Youngman, Richard Pryor, Jack Benny, Jackie Gleason, Freddy Prinze,......... No one asked them to apologize.
Who are you, Obama, to ask for an apology? Have you apologized for the "state of the union" we are now experiencing?
No? I did not think so!

President Obama is a big boy and the leader of the greatest nation in the world. He has proven that he is not a janitor. the comment is a stereotypical slander against black people in general but was directed at the President himself. It is humor people and Don Rickles is known for insulting people. Lighten up folks...

What about Bob Hope? He regularly harpooned sitting presidents and is considered an icon. or does this guy fancy himself a King?

No, he didn't. To many people are looking to play the victim. Lighten up and stop taking everything so personally.

No. We have such a thing called free speech. If you don't like it, don't listen, or counter with rhetoric of your own.
