Now come back in a hour and read the overwhelminly standard "politix" responses claiming she is whats wrong with America and she is a race baitor and she is an infidel of God for defending equality and that she has biases unagainst bankers, who some how are all GOOD Christian Americans.

There's a lot to like about Warren's positions. And a lot not to like.(I'm still having trouble with the fake Indian bit though. What else has she lied about?)

To me a liar is a liar is a liar!! Also since when is it just the Rs with the lobbyists?!?! The Ds do a pretty damn good job also!! I say she's full of crap! I say as a woman there is no war, the only one is the one against my husband if he pisses me off enough!!

@Thunderchicken - "(I'm still having trouble with the fake Indian bit though. What else has she lied about?) "

Which probably wouldn't have been the big deal it turned out to be until "Politics" made it an earth shattering reason to disqualify her.

It's irrelevant who one is or what ones beliefs are, we have all lied at one time or another. In her case she made the case she was misinformed by a family member.

In my book that "lie" doesn't take away from the work she is doing now for all of us. She's one of the few that are actually trying to do what they were paid and elected to do and that is do something constructive for The People.

Let's fight for what some people complain about and let's make those issues important and then let's not do a thing about them. Yeah that's what she's good for, just like Obama. Obama ran against everything Bush had done and then did the same thing ten times worse. Smh.

She actually has cosigned a lot of legislation. Now, very little of it has made it to the President's desk, but it doesn't take away from the fact that she's one of the hardest working people in Washington.

@AceLuby She is a hard worker. I like her because she has a strong background in economics, knows her facts and doesn't get frazzled when debating with the good old boy

Can you show proof of your statement with unbiased verifiable links?

I can show proof where he nor anyone else has been able to make much forward progress due to record filibustering, stalling and blocking any attempts to do much of anything, unless of course one is willing to beat dead horses once more with another investigation trying to get the answer a certain party on the right wants.

I haven't figured out what her bank regulation proposals mean, but the odds are the big banks will love them. The more regulations, the bigger the Compliance departments, the more lawyers, and especially, the more loopholes. Smaller players can't afford that stuff, so the big players have the advantage.

I wonder if Warren understands that, and is in the pocket of the Boston banks. Probably not - she looks to me like a garden variety huckster.

@Ryuo - "I haven't figured out what her bank regulation proposals mean, but the odds are the big banks will love them."

You would be wrong because you have it backwards.

The repealing of the Glass-Steagall act under Clinton is what allowed the Banking industry to turn into the "to big to fail" banks which ended up bankrupt and had to be bailed out.

She is pushing to separate the banking portions of the banks from the investing portions so their isn't a repeat of this, among some things.

A small synopsis of what she is pushing for re: banks.

Your bank account [checking/savings/home mortgage] is entirely separate from the area that deals in speculating where hedge funds etc are traded.

In the instance you have a credit card, she wants regulations that do away with the hidden fee's and humongous interests they now have or at least limit them so they are less than what they are now. Especially when these cards are issued to people who are low income and end up in the trap of having to spend 5 years paying back $1,000 at 24% interest plus fee's.

"I wonder if Warren understands that"

Read her proposals yourself and you wouldn't have to ask that question.

There were a lot in MA that got suckered in by her, there will be a lot nationally too. I'd believe her more if she refused to meet with the lobbyists

She was trailing Scott Brown in Massachusetts until the "Indian Attacks" Browns people were following her around dressed up like Indians, whooping, hollering, making hatchet moves. She beat Scott's butt. Most of us think it was the tacky B.S. that caused that. So, go ahead, try that juvenile crap again, lets see what happens. We are sick of stupidity in this country and this attack is stupid!!
  • #109
    !
Really? I though her winning had something to do with her spending $43 million dollars, more than any other candidate for U.S. Senate or Congress in the entire U.S. Also, Democrats outnumber Republicans in Massachusetts 2 to 1. Some times, Independents get more votes than Republicans in Massachusetts. It was a miracle Brown won the first time. By the way, much of her funding came from out of state. And from labor unions. The labor union leaders now own Elizabeth Warren lock, stock, and barrel. That 's why she won't come out clearly and strongly for charter schools, even though she apparently supports the funding. She is owned, she may as well have a leash on her.
  • #114

You are entirely correct, but Scott Brown himself said the attacks were what sent her over the top. Scott Brown was a good guy, a good Republican but he lost. He lost because of some of his juvenile backers. Or so he has said.

    Jeffreyknee.

Are you serious??? Here is one thought to jerk your knee.

"Obama-care gives employers reasons to NOT hire more workers, to cut hours and other benefits, or fold shop and retire early; plus it adds another middle class tax on individuals = net loss;"

Holy Christ!!! Say What??? I never heard of so much crap. Your saying a business will turn down new clients or more orders for the products they make directly as a result of whom is in office and or the ACA?????????? Good Grief!

Tell potential new business to go to a competitor??? Your business cannot expand, update, grow, buy new equipment all because and as a result of whom is in office??? Amazing! When Clinton was in office and he raised taxes, the economy still boomed. Some of the best years among all prior to his policies.

Companies couldn't care any less who is in office nor their policies. Clinton years are proof. The problem they have is banks are not loaning out the billions they already have in reserve!!!

Should Warren run? Sure. No one should be denied whom wants the position. Sole factor holding back any potential candidate is not having enough $$$$$$!!!!

Elizabeth Warren is starting to build up her street cred. She's the new kid on the block and has a lot of talent but little experience. Watch for her to do more and more so that she'll be ready to run for President after Hillary's two terms. Warren 2024? It's a long way off but I think it is a possibility.

How do you lower student debt? Tell more kids that college just isn't for them? Give students more part time jobs ( by not pricing them out of the market with higher minimum wage)? Perhaps convince the gov't to stop driving up tuition costs? I doubt that she has any constructive ideas.
  • #54
    !
Govt didn't drive up tuition costs, schools did in the name of more money. And it's the same thing that will happen to K-12 schools if we do 'vouchers' instead of publicly funding schools. It's the same reason why healthcare costs have exploded. It's the same reason why internet costs are so high. There's no regulation of the market and when people need it to compete the ones who own it drive up costs to make more money. It's basic econ.

    @Curmudgeon

Aceluby is one of those blind liberals. Deeply steeped in idealogy, and having lost much sense of objectivity on any issue. It's healthy to be a moderate and a sceptic about things. And to not trust either of the major political parties. I don't fall into the propaganda of either side. Many liberals do, and it's intellectually pathetic. All they can do is spout a party line. Even many liberals here in Pennsylvania have embraced charter schools because they're pulling kids up out of the slums. To greater things. And universities driving up costs and being the fault of higher costs to students? Well, isn't the government providing a lot of the money to these universities either directly or indirectly? Why don't they do something about schools like Penn State raising tuition every year while posting billions in profits? Why? Because the unions control many of the politicians on the left. The members, with bloated salaries, run these institutions.

    Dear Elizabeth Warren:

Please run for President on a leftwing progressive platform of :

Screwing the middle class, taxing them into non-existence; robbing the middle class of their basic liberties, all in the name of battling "inequality;"; bankrupting the nation; spying on the middle class and their children; working for the Banksters while claiming she's "regulating them"; pouring billions of dollars into the banks via the Fed while her zero-interest rate policy drives the middle class into poverty; destroying the family structure of African-Americans; blaming Bush for whatever you can't fix; curtailing the lifespan of all Americans with "affordable, universal" healthcare.

    Signed,

Anyone Thinking of Running for GOP President in 2016

PS. Like hell Warren doesn't want to run for President.
