There's a growing outcry about the way immigrant children are being housed at the Texas border.
The images below show children sleeping on the floor in kennel-like cages or piled virtually on top of one another in bare concrete-walled rooms.
High-profile voices from all sides of the political spectrum are expressing their horror in increasingly strong terms.
Glenn Beck said on Monday that the US government is committing "damn near crimes against humanity" on its southern border. Beck has been raising funds for the immigrant children and this weekend delivered trailer-tractors of food, water, and clothes to the kids.
Even Democrats have begin to attack Obama for his failure to act. Governor Martin O'Malley called on the administration to do better in handling the border kids crisis and get kids out of "these kennels":
We have to do right not just by these kids but by our kids and protect the children who are here, put them in the least restrictive settings, get them out of these detention centers and these kennels where they are being cooped up, and operate as the good and generous people that we have always been. That's what's at stake here, as well as the lives of these kids.
