@Mercury34 - So I guess we should just promote anti-American lifestyles that are at odds with God and think nothing of it, huh? Nature did not intend for this way of life. Many youngsters are confused and there is an agenda being forced on this nation by radical leftists that does not serve this country any good.

Righteous Americans can and should and will stand up and speak on behalf of what we know is the truth. Fact is, you can shut down Chick-fil-A, you can't shut down millions of true patriotic Christian Americans.

We will right the wrongs that unholy liberals have forced on this nation and we will reject this unholy lifestyle that leftists promote and encourage amongst our vulnerable children.

@Neo_NtheMatrix Anti-American? What about all man are created equal? Shouldn't that apply to gays too?
Actually homosexuality is natural. It's been observed in 1,500 animal species ranging from primates to worms.
Promote and encourage? Ha! You can't turn someone gay, just like you can't turn someone straight!

@Neo_NtheMatrix - You must have a heck of a time buying clothes. After all, wearing different fibers is 'at odds' with God also.

Too bad there isn't a program like this to deprogram fundamentalist christians who think it is their duty to try and enforce their religion's beliefs and laws across the land, and think our nation should be rooted in christianity. Tell me, how can a nation have freedom of religion yet be based on christian fundamentals?? Funny that you're all about protecting the constitution yet I would almost bet if you could revise the first amendment to make this country "christians only" they would be all for it.

Organized religion is and has been the greatest threat to human progress and evolution in the history of this planet. Even despite scientific evidence, they continue to live in complete ignorance. I believe in a creator, but I live my own life not bound by what a book written by human hand, not the hand of God himself says. Man is not perfect, and was born to make mistakes, so to believe that your religion is the one and only and that the Bible is 100% the word of God is ignorance in the highest form.

"Christian" is sufficient. Fundamental is redundant. The anti establishment clause is due to the political mishandling of the English church over other Christian sects (the english church demanded that they be considered the "fundamental" church). If people choose not to be Christian, it makes more sense for them to express that than have to lie about it. "Organized religion" has also been responsible for the most education, buildings and cultural advancements. The problem with either side of this argument is that "organized religion" is us. Our math, language, art and yes, even our science is greatly influenced by "organized religion." Complete ignorance is hard to come by. If our Creator loves us, then the Bible makes a lot of sense. If He doesn't, then some crazy, charismatic guy who a lot of people saw do magical things got himself executed for nothing. Further, his followers continue to get themselves killed for nothing.

Do you think our Founding Fathers believed in God and founded America as a Christian nation? The Supreme Court answered this question in 1892 and cited 50 historical examples to prove America was indeed a Christian nation. These are just a few:

Governor Bradford, in writing of the Pilgrims’ landing, describes their first act:“Being thus arrived in a good harbor and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven....”

Benjamin Franklin stood and addressed the Continental Congress with these words:

In the beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for divine protection. Our prayers, sir, were heard and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending Providence in our favor…. Have we now forgotten this powerful friend? Or do we imagine we no longer need His assistance? I have lived, sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?

George Washington, in his inaugural address to Congress as the first president of the nation stated:“No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency....”

The Supreme Court Decision 1892—Church of the Holy Trinity vs. The United States:

Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of The Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian….This is a religious people. This is historically true.

President Woodrow Wilson:“...the the one supreme source of revelation of the meaning of life, the nature of God and spiritual nature and need of men. It is the only guide of life which really leads the spirit in the way of peace and salvation.”

    Proverbs 30:5
"Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

    Nothing more need be said!

The irony is that most of the dangerously wacko fringe "therapies" for all kinds of mental and physical conditions flourish especially in California. Why single out this particular one except to curry favor with a minority group in an election year?

Wise move since --there is no need for a "Gay cure" Gays are born that way, and it's high time "Christians" (and I use that term loosely)-- come out of the closet & realize that. You can't pick & choose which parts of The Bible you want to believe in (actually, I don't believe any of it, but that's for another forum). All anyone needs to do is live their life as a good, giving, caring person and let everyone else do the same. Saying "my way or the highway" is COMPLETE BS & a narrow minded way of looking at all of life.

I'll take "illegals" & "gays" over bigots and homophobes any day of the week...Thanks Very Much!
  • #45
Yes, I do....Why in the world would any state want to codify bigotry and prejudice anyway....Instead of looking for a "cure" for one being gay...Those bigots should look for a cure for homophobia, and prejudice....Maybe those kinds of people are the one's who really need some kind of mental help.

I don't think homosexuality needs to be cured, and none of today's so-called cures do anything other than cause confusion, but banning them seems counter-productive to me. It just adds more fuel to the the already fear-filled Christian Right's martyrdom complex. We can't raise their children for them even if we want to, even if we know the children would be better off.
  • #31
Even Christian organizations stopped doing it because they realized it does more emotional harm than good and doesn't work. Love thy neighbor morons. Its there, black and white, clear as day, no fine print; using religion against someone in this case is just a shroud for personal hate or not being able to understand simple concepts such as love thy neighbor.
  • #19
Yes, I support these for the same reason I support any laws that protect children from unnecessary psychological damage.
  • #8
Is there a cure for bigotry? NO I do not support a "cure" for a personality trait someone is born with! How ridiculous!! By the way, I'm a Christian and Jesus loves everyone. So I disagree with the gentleman who said millions of Christians would agree with him that we should help find a cure. You sir need to get down and pray that God will help you become more Christ like.

But NeoMatrix's Jesus is different from YOUR Jesus. His Jesus looks like Chuck Norris, talks like Clint Eastwood, and babbles incoherent bigotry like Rush Limbaugh.

I 100% support the ban on "gay cures." I am proud to have parents who genuinely accept me for who I am, but I know there are many kids throughout this country who are not as fortunate. I will not let anybody try to convince me that I chose to be gay. I am never going to change, and if people don't like that than so be it! If I did not have parents who supported me, I wonder if I would have actually made the decision to take my own life. This is something that I feel very personal about and I do not associate with anybody who does not genuinely respect that.

I am a devout Christian and I know a lot of gay people! I even have a cousin who is gay! No matter whether we are against homosexuallity or not is not going to change who they are as a person! I dont think all gay people choose to be gay! I genetically think they are born that way! However, I do believe that there are highly confused people who suffer from serious repressed anger and hurt towards the opposite sex because of childhood sexual abuse! I don't believe that it is natural for two men or two women to legally marry one another when they can't even procreate! Yes they can adopt but it's still not natural!! I don't like going against the laws of nature nor the laws that God placed on this Earth for us to live by as a human race! I will never be for gay marriage no matter how much I live my gay friends or gay cousin!

Homosexual children are ILL. They have an affliction and they need help to manage it. This makes as much sense as a law against therapy for autistic children.

While they are at it they should create a cure for freedom of choice, freedom of expression, and the rest of our freedoms these communists don't like.

It's not illegal to change your physical being to coincide with your brain so why make it illegal to change your brain to coincide with your physical being ?
