What happened to the fears of dictatorship, martial law and rounding up of conservatives that came from right-wing extremists? Weren't they all supposed to happen during Obama's first term?

@David944 You see that in your crystal ball? Ask IraqWarVeteran just how much support the military can be expected to give Barack Obama if he tried to form a dictatorship. Quick! Before the black helicopters come for you!

I did notread the story because its probably really stupid, but the premise of it is ironic in that now Canada will have a healthcare system that is better than ours.... I wonder where the Canadians will go for healthcare now?
  • #42
    !
Canadian healthcare has rated higher than the U.S. since at least 2000, probably before then. Rich people come from Canada to jump the waiting list, not because of superior healthcare.

Exactly, Dan. That's the fallacy of their argument....But hey, its like you said, who knows if Canada wants them. But I'm nevertheless happy to see them go.

It is quite ironic that these same folks claim to love America. It's funny how most of us can function no matter who is President and who take pride and are pround of the United States of America that is always and still is the greatest nation on the planet. Go ahead and leave the country. Soon they will find that the world is bigger than their small little minds can handle. I love America and I will support and fight for this country no matter who is President becasue this is the country I love. GOD has truly blessed this nation and our leaders.

I do love how all the people who complained about "socialized" medicine would go to Canada to get away from it haha. That's like moving to the beach because you hate the sand. EPIC fail. I made it through 8 years of bush, you will be fine with 8 years of obama. It's politics, sometimes the side you like loses! Way to set a good example for future voters tho, get involved unless you don't get what you want, then take your ball and go home. NOT a good lesson for future generations!

LOL Canada won't give them a socialized medicine card or a work permit unless they can show they have skills the country needs. They'll get tossed just like an illegal Mexican. Too funny.

Forget Canada. I say republicans just take over Mexico. The government is weak. We wouldn't be bound by international law and could destroy the cartels since we wouldn't have to play nice and could fight the war in their style of war. It has tons of oil in the gulf. Lots of labor wanting a better life ready to work.

I say the south should just take over Mexico.

    !
That was funny. The idea of a bunch of chickenhawk republicans waging war on Mexico! Where exactly do you think you're going to find the poor people to fight that war for you?

    Ok this is funny.
But u have to know just about everyone in the south is heavily armed. Men woman and children.

@Kajai Republicans aren't exactly known for personal bravery. Cheney, Bush, Romney, Ryan, McConnell, Boehner.... you get the idea. They are all happy to have others actually do the fighting.

Do I sympathize with the folks who want to move to Canada because Obama won?

I guess any sympathy I have would be for the poor Canadian citizenry who will have to put up with them.

Me and my family are seriously thinking about moving to Canada as well. I have a cousin who lives in Ontario and we are in serioius negotiations about moving the Neo family out of this country.

You'll enjoy having national health care. By the way the top income tax rate up there is only 29% but you'll also have to pay Provincial/Territorial income taxes of as much as 17.4% on top of that. Add in sales taxes that can go up to about 15%. My best to the Neo family.

@PNWest Neo is all talk. He's just like all the liberals who claimed they would move to Canada when Bush was elected - different political ideologies, but same bluster and an empty threats (like a child who threatens to run away from home after he doesn't get the present he wants at Christmas).

Actually... ironically, I've read that Canada has been tightening it's immigration restrictions. I looked it up, you need to have a or a direct blood relations (parents, grandparents, siblings) that are Canadian citizens and you either have to have a job lined up in Canada... or you have to show that you are dependent upon the money of of the Canadian citizen who sponsors you, otherwise you have to have get a skilled workers permit (i.e. Neo_NtheMatrix would have to basically come to Canada under welfare of his Canadian relatives).

Canadian households pay about 20% of their budget to taxes, NOT including the HST and GST on all purchased products. Canadians have a national health care system. Canada has legalized gay marriage, 'relaxed' marijuana laws, and, to top it off, Stephen Harper and Barack Obama are best buds. Canada is great, but not the place to go if you're a Republican trying to escape Obama's America.

Canada's prime minister ties — whoever is elected — to the United States are going to stay close as a Canadian trade partner in NAFTA for oil, Global War on Terrorism supporter and participant in NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan as well participant in the joint organization NORAD. Canada and UK are America's buds whoever is elected prime minister.

Alec Baldwin claims that he never made the statement. But Pierre Salinger (former Senator, Presidential press secretary and ABC News correspondent) said "If Bush wins, I'm going to leave the country and spend the rest of my life in France." He did.

I'm seriously considering it. My wife has a couple of relatives in Canada. We have a few decisions to make, but we might be out of here.

Why? So we can become Canada's immigration problem! Stand your ground and fight for your beliefs, we need a balance of opinions to keep things in the middle. Too far left or right and we pay a price. We've drifted left of liberal as a country and need conservatives to balance it out.

I'm ready to expose Obama for what he is and that is a Communist. Hold on before moving to Canada because Obama is going to be IMPEACHED for the Benghazi cover-up. Please keep praying that this lying socialist be removed from the White House ASAP!

I wonder if the folks who "claim" they want to move to Canada know President Obama is LOVED there. You republicans are judged by the Bible you claim to esteem. No prophet is accepted in his own province.(Don't even try it. I'm not saying Barack Obama is a prophet. What I am saying is, you have no acceptance of your own).

Let's move on. One thing I will not move on from, is this: What's this about House Speaker Mr. Boehner and Minority Leader Mr. Mc Connell being "asleep" when the President of the United States called, on the night after the President's re-election speech?

The Office of the Presidency is what's important here and the reverence of the voice of the electorate. You have shown disregard and disrespect for the Office of the Presidency and collect my dime while doing so. The nerve of you!!!

You can credit these actions for prompting my motivation to pray and work fervently to make sure this will be your last terms in US public office. After this current term, neither of you will be US Congressman nor US Senator. Enough of this nonsense and disrespect. Where is your humility? Your pride has proceeded your fall.

Canada is a poor choice for the absence of government coercion these guys claim they want. it's just a threat. I sympathize of course, but they are going about it the wrong way
  • #84
    !
@Stop_Whining I would not call it absent mindedness, they are raising legitimate concerns, and Canada would be a great choice had the reasons been different. it is just the other side of the coin from the statest who will run to government at the sign of deregulation. not very well thought out, but not mindless
  • #91
    !
@Stop_Whining that believe is absent minded, but it has no bearing on anybody else. these jokers that want to move to Canada are not doing so because of religion. Besides, the pushy in-your-face atheist, the opposite of creationists, are just as ignorant. In fact, I would rather deal with the person who believes early humanity was like the Flintstones, than listen to the intolerance of the other insecure guy

@Lpguy It is absolutely within reason, to not tolerate a person who tells your children that they will burn in hell if they dont comply with a certain set of moral and religious codes.

    Absolutely acceptable.

Let them go to whatever country they want, but never allow them to come back... Traitors shouldn't be allowed back. It doesn't matter who is president, we are Americans and need to act like Americans, not whiny babies.

Nope, bye and don't let the doorknob hit you where the good Lord split you. This is America, we should respect the democratic process.
