no. it reflects her opinion. no big deal. I will say she should pick her friends a little better. that's another story people who use Facebook and actually believe they have friends from it

No it was a very stupid thing to say. And when the Secret Service hears that kind of stuff, what did she think would happen?!?! She, and "you people" just need to get over the fact that, Yes,---we have a black president...And we have a black president for the next four years...Just Get Over It......'Cause there ain't a Damn thing that you can do about it!!!

    Hmmmmm.

An employer firing employees as a financial decision over Obamacare taxation is evil..

    ...BUT...

An employee being fired for privately stating an opinion....and that's ok.

    Interesting.

I'm sure if a black man said the same thing about George Bush, and called him a "cracker", nobody would do anything, but when an "evil white woman" says something against both the media's, and half of the countrie's savior, she gets cruely fired, investigated by the mentally ill secret service, and on top of that is called a racist! A black man could call me a "cracker" and I wouldn't consider that racist! So why does this lady get called one for using an equally offensive term?
  • #15
    !
First of all you are not "sure about any such thing". You are simply speculating to try to find a way to justify this silly woman....She is not only a racist, but a stupid one at that...And there is nothing you can say or speculate about that will change that!
  • #30
    !
@Sonny Actually there is, this lady didn't post this publically on Facebook, she posted it privately so that only her friends could see it. And one of her stupid friends thought it was a good idea to take a pic of her friend's comment, and Tweet it! And further more, what about the secret service? Did they really need to step in and interogate the poor lady? It was a private post! Why does the government have the power to do that? Not to mention the fact that she didn't even say anything threatening against Obama!

@Romney2012 Of course the sec service has the legal authority to do what they did. All threats to assassinate the pres. would probably initially be "private" in the first place..So they were right to question her.Maybe she has learned something from this---

Good think they didn't have facebook when Bush was in office. Would have kept those Secret service guys real busy.

Facebook launched on February 4, 2004, which was when Bush was in office. Never heard of any Secret Service business dealing with it then.
  • #185
    !
@Dan_Tien Yes but it was not open to the public till later. So who knows what those people (just Harvard students) were posting. You are not being intellectually honest. You know what I meant. It was not that widely used untill about 2007.
  • #191
    !
@Buggsy888 "Facebook was opened on September 26, 2006, to everyone of age 13 and older with a valid email address." In 2006 Bush was still in office. Before Facebook, there was MySpace. Honesty is an ethical attribute, not an intellectual one.
  • #198

@Dan_Tien And you know darn well it was not that widespread. Besides, my point is,,no one gave a rats rump what was said about Bush. But their precious little boy BO,,God forbid.

    @Buggsy888
February 7, 2001: While President George W. Bush was in the White House Residence, in Washington, DC, Robert Pickett, standing outside the perimeter fence, discharged a number of shots from a weapon towards the White House.

September 11, 2001: A van occupied by men of Middle Eastern descent arrived at the Colony Beach Resort and claimed they had a "poolside" interview with the President. They did not have an appointment and were turned away. It is possible this was an assassination attempt modeled on the one used on anti-Taliban fighter and Northern Alliance military leader Ahmed Massoud two days earlier.

May 10, 2005: While President George W. Bush was giving a speech in the Freedom Square in Tbilisi, Georgia, Vladimir Arutyunian threw a live Soviet-made RGD-5 hand grenade towards the podium where Bush was standing and where Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, the First Lady of the United States Laura Bush, the First Lady of Georgia Sandra Roelofs, and officials were seated. The grenade was live and had its pin pulled, but did not explode.

Every possible threat against a President of the United States is taken seriously, regardless of his popularity.

Had a boss twenty some years ago readying himself for a race war.
    It's closer than you think.
The drone program I like, think O is right on. But some of these other things... Not so good.
If people weren't so focused on race they would realize our rights as Americans are being stripped.
When the 1% denounce citizenship and the businesses move out where is the money going to come from then?
    That's right. You and me.
If you have more than a third world citizen that will be considered too much.
So go ahead focus on the hate. After all if you hate everyone equally you can't be racist, huh?
  • #39
    !
Yes, everyone is so preoccupied with racial issues, same sex marriages, legalization of drugs, atheism... and
China is working hard, staying focused and will become the Leader of the Free World in four years or less.
Let's all stay distracted, I'm sure they are laughing all the way to the bank!!!

@mimi57 yes they are. We need to clean out thewashington scene with term limits. And effective representation. And now that elections are done, voter ID in some capacity. Both sides claim foul at election time. We should put an end to it.
Oh wait. Oops that's right our dear leader is off golfing! See that won't work! Hmmmm what to do?
  • #63

@Penn1699 Really?! I have never seen so much confusion and discontent...none of this makes sense to me.
Racial tensions are as high as they were in the 60's, everyone is angry at someone..all the special interest gangs
are going crazy, I don't know...

@Sonny that's not what the story said Sonny. And yes she is ignorant. And yes I am aware of the law. I did NOT say I condom her behavior.
  • #27

@Sonny Did you even read the story? She said "maybe he will..." I don't think you will find a terroristic threatening statute in this country that defines that as a threat. Therefore it is not illegal.
  • #33
    !
@WilliamWallace Someone in law enforcement prob saw it, was required to report it, and SS was obligated to investigate it. I'm sure it was just a routine interview and they quickly came to the same conclusion we did, she did something idiotic and is not a credible threat.
  • #55
    !
@FFX_VA Thats just it, I'm a police officer and reporting that is a waste of time. It would be a different story if she had said I will, I paid, I helped, or something along those lines.

The media and their so called race war is the only reason we are seeing this.

No I feel it doesn't. The racist slur is freedom of speech but I do not agree with using the word. The part about him being killed should be acted on as if it is a threat. But then again
There were people, Democratic leaders also said the.same thing abt Bush. So I guess the question if it is OK to talk about one then why is it wrong to say the same thing about another sitting president. Treat every threat a an act of terrorism

Chris Matthews on MSNBC(maoist state national broadcasting corporate fascists) was threatening Romney every day with remarks like 'we have plenty of knives here for Mitt" and "he wouldn't appear here as we would murder him". Where is the protection that is guaranteed the Presidential candidates? Michael Moore should be arrested under the Hobbs act because his threats of violence in the commercials were not exempted by them being union business. Where are the liberal lawyers to protect the grandma's because their grandchildren are afraid to visit because grandma might cock punch them or burn it all down?

R@hertz_doughnut I agree with you. It is OK for their people to threatened the Conservative president and the.one.running.for the office. If Mikey does it is freedom of art. Just for the record, from AOL:(A Los Angeles school district fired a substitute teacher for anti-Semitic remarks she made at a recent Occupy Wall Street offshoot in Los Angeles. In an interview Oct. 12 with Reason.tv, Patricia McAllister (pictured above) said, "I think that the Zionist Jews who are running these big banks and our Federal Reserve, which is not run by the federal government, they need to be run out of this country."

"It is not racist," she said. "It's me telling the truth. Anyone who speaks against the Jews are called racist nowadays."

"If someone said the same thing about African Americans they would be considered racist," the reporter replies to McAllister, who is black.

"If we were destroying this nation, you better say something," she says without missing a beat. "And take us down with it.")

Racism isn't limited to any one race, and no one is guaranteed freedom of speech protection for hate speech.

Did this woman write these comments while at work? Did she represent herself as a representative of the business? Did she sign a statement saying she would not say stupid things online?

If the answer is No to these questions she should sue the store and the manager who fired her.
  • #112
    !
She can sue if she wants. She won't win. You don't have to sign a statement stating that you will not make trouble for your employer. Common sense should tell you that will get you canned. Cold Stone Creamery has 14000 followers on Twitter. Many were outraged by her statement and complained to the company. They cut her loose because of that, and because the management was also offended by her statement. Retaining her would have been seen as tacit approval of her statement. What company wants an employee who loses customers for them, especially an employee whose job requires them to deal directly with the public? If people still do not know that the internet gives you no legal expectation of privacy, then they are not paying attention. Hate speech is not protected free speech.
  • #218
    !
@fact-check The First Amendment does not protect hate speech, threats of violence or incitement to violence, so there is no question of "trumping" it. Businesses have a right to protect their business at the expense of an employee's job, if that employee disregards the interests of their employer and puts them at risk of losing profits without their foreknowledge and approval. Are you one of the rare conservatives that places personal freedom above the free market?
  • #227
    !
@Dan_Tien: Actually the First Amendment protects all speech with the possible exception of gag orders, matters of National Security, and statements intended to cause panic or incite violence. One can legally state "I hate X." One can also legally state "X deserves to die." One can also state "I hope that X dies." Those statements are all legally protected under the First Amendment. Your Trotskyite (google it) assertion that "The First Amendment does not protect hate speech" is simply untrue. And furthermore, the Fourteenth Amendment trumps the ability of an employer to willfully and knowingly discriminate against an employee MERELY for their free and open exercise of the First Amendment off the job.

Have an opinion that differs from democrat/socialist and you are tagged as prejudice or racist. Beginning to believe that all democrats/socialist are nothing but a bunch of school room sissy's that won't fight back about anything. Don't believe me? Look at Obama and Benghazi. Obama willingly sacrificed an ambassador, staffer and two members of a security cadre just to get re-elected.

Democrats have no stomach for a fight. Can't wait for the Chinese to show up to collect their due. Remember, democrat socialist, those Rosetta Stone lessons should be mandarin.

This woman got caught up in the moment and posted something incredibly stupid. The Secret Service had to waste who knows how many man hours making sure that she was just your run of the mill right wing nut and not a real threat. Her name is now known everywhere and it will be pretty hard for her to find another job unless some other racist hires her. Actually that probably won't be too hard at all - maybe Papa John will make an exception. This is an example of how one stupid act can really mess up your life. Twenty years from now people will be asking her "Aren't you the one that posted the racist rant against the President"?
  • #32
    !
Do you really think the Secret Service wasted an hours investigating this? Her statement started with "Maybe he will" which is not a threat. If they did more than send a local police officer to question her they need to rethink their education.
  • #54
    !
@WilliamWallace Yes William the Secret Service certainly spent man hours investigating this woman. Even a cursory investigation takes a few hours. They needed to check out her prior history, etc.

A very stupid woman. I don't know if she should have been fired for being racist, but more for being an idiot. Anyone who thinks the President is to blame for the state of this country, is just plain ignorant. Legislation and litigation for profit is the problem. The rest are merely symptoms or collateral damage if you will.
  • #24
    !
The president signs these bills into law and is part of the problem. Nice point on litigation though, it is a huge cost driver. I'd love to see a politician brave enough to take on the lawyer lobby!

...and she is a very stupid girl, hopefully this will be a wake up call for her.
  • #48

Regardless, ignorance of this kind exists in every corner of our society. Neither side can claim the high ground.

@MRMacrum"Rabid rampant ignorance" might also work. That's my point, and you are correct, this behavior is present in every corner. And neither side will even try to identify the problems. Yes and every time I see a black person I now there is a 90% chance he voted for obama and most likely did because he is black. To this point I have tried to understand and go out my way to kind to black people but no more.

@David944 So what? Considering that about fifty years ago folks thought black people were the subhuman scum of society and deserved none of the rights guaranteed to white men by the constitution - I think that's a legit reason to vote. Also under that logic - they would have voted for Herman Cain.

So stop trying to be nice to black people like they deserve special cosndiersti
