    Politico is nothing but a bunch of left wing hacks, wonder how they twisted the old womens words around to fit their anti-Republican narritve this time...

    I take it you would have preferred some Right Wing hacks instead. They did not twist her words. The lady speaks her mind. In Kennebunkport, her nickname by many of the locals was "Dragon Lady". Apparently at home she is called "the Enforcer". You don't mess with this lady and you don't twist her words. You better be prepared. The old guard GOP is beginning the process of distancing themselves from the Tea Party zealots they thought they could control.

    And if it turns out those were her words...?? Will you stop pulling your parties McCarthyism around on your back for the world to see.

    You don't have to agree with the article...but from what I have seen Politico is not that bias. Now if we were talking the Washington Post, NY Times, Huffington Post, CNN, MSNBC, or CBS I would completely agree. And I personally don't think Republicans should agree on any terms with the Democratic party on taxes or spending.

    Compromise can be a dirty word, it depends on what you are compromising. Some things are just not up for negotiation nor should they ever be. I stand firm in my beliefs and will not ever be budged from them. Take that!

    @Neo_NtheMatrix - It was a joke. Perhaps a sad effort at one, but one just the same.

    ...... No I don't retreat from my basic set up of beliefs. I do however sometimes change my mind on issues when evidence that I am wrong rears up and smacks me in the face.

    Sure, let's 'work with' Obumble to keep spending money at a record pace, saddling future generations with the debt and keep government so big that all the tax increases in the world won't pay for it all.

    Great plan!

    "Was the last round of elections especially ugly?"

    ......... This is a trick question, right? There is always hate and discontent swirling around every election. But I have never seen it this bad.

    @Realthinker - See, the bipartisanship is starting to come to fruition. I have a feeling when tempers have calmed down some in a year or so, maybe we can find some other things we agree on.

    @Realthinker - LOL. Somehow I think we will both know it when we see it. Or not. I'll settle for just being able to disagree without gettin all blue in the face.

    Romney murdered someone? Who'd he murder? Wow. Good thing we didn't elect him.

    ....... Thought I would try to channel like the Right Wing mind for a second. Sorry guys I just can't manipulate everything I hear or read on the Internet.

    @MRMacrum If you don't know, Obama's supporters ran an ad that basically blamed Romney for the death of a man's wife who worked for him because he lost his job and then she got ill and died. The ad was proved to have many misleading and flat out wrong information. Obama's campaign manager also said Romney was a felon because of a tax thing she accused him of doing. That's dirty politics!
  • #76
    !
    @MRMacrum Oh, and we can't forget the time Harry Reid went on the floor of the senate and said Romney didn't pay all his taxes from an "anonymous source". That's just wrong, and he shouldn't have got away with doing that.

    @Politicskid - "That's dirty politics!"

    ......... Welcome to the Bigs kid. And the Right does not utilize similar tactics? Ther are no rules anymore. Not that there were ever any rules. But there was a time when civil behavior did break out once in awhile.

    I'm not sure what she means, why the republicans compromise all the time. They compromised on which citizens would get what civil rights, which citizens would be disenfranchised though constitutional reform. Which ones would be singled out for special treatment based on their personal wealth. Yes those republicans are full of compromises.

    I was not a big fan of Barbara as First Lady but thought her husband did a good job and fine job in Iraq and I like Nancy Reagan yet am not Republican or Democrat.
    I agree with the former first lady sick of politics and work with the President and he work with Republicans too. Working together and finding those areas people can agree on is what will push this nation forward but we need to get past politics and talk radio and Fox is non stop on that which harms society so FCC should shut those stations down or with Fox, warn, MORE NEWS and less politics or off the air you will go for national security reasons of causing division in the States.
  • #46
    !
    I agree with some of your points but you blaming Fox for harming society is utter bullshit.The conservatives have ONE voice and that is Fox. May I ask have you ever watched MSNBC?? Watch and sit there putting yourself in a conservatives shoes then get back with me. Talking about a station that is screwing with peoples minds it is MSNBC. They DEMAND that you think like them or your a complete lunitic if you don't. We have one station and all they do is expose the truth and report news that you will never here on all the rest. Come on Neoconic don't be like the rest of the sheeple. You better be glad we have a station like fox that tells the other side of our goverment because its the last one we have left, so what does that tell ya.

    @Buckfan4life2 - "They DEMAND that you think like them or your a complete lunitic if you don't. "

    ..... Hmm. Seems to me when a lunatic joins the audience it just be a good idea to try to talk them back from the edge.

    I find MSNBC to be only marginally less obnoxious than Fox. Some days, there is no difference. I prefer to check out numerous news outlets for my news. That way no single one has my mind by the balls.

    I think they were a big waste of money as usual. Around 2 billion dollars collected for campaigning for a less than 1/2 million dollar a year job. What is Barbs talking about anyways, she is still sponging off the taxpayers and will continue until she dies. We will have to pay for that too. I think if government people were put on social security etc like the rest of us there might be a big change in their attitude of wasting OUR money. Let's start by making new jobs and fixing our systems that are so worn down and out; railways, electrical, water, utilities etc.. Let's find a better way to supply our fuel needs without making the oil barons richer as we struggle here just to buy food and a place to live.

    I think some people were especially vicious to this president. They won't admit race played a part in it, but it did. I also think Republicans can not get over the fact he kept his promise and in to create on health care...
  • #33
    !
    @Thunderchicken
    Well he campaigned on it and kept his promise. Also keep in mind that not all who opposed it did so for the reasons you did. I know a lot of people who opposed it because we preferred a single payer or at least wanted a government option system. But almost everyone who opposed it on those grounds voted Obama because with its flaws it still expands access to health care...
  • #41
    !
    @Thunderchicken
    That is my point, see I would have voted against a mandate to buy private insurance, I wanted national health care, under that system there is nothing to purchase, the cost is included paid through the tax base, but I doubt you would like that. My point is that in many parts of the country when people were asked do you support the Obama health care law they said "no" I said no myself, but the reasons they said no were different, and a lot of voters who opposed the plan did so for reasons different from the tea parties reasons and they voted Obama. Think of it this way, if the majority of people opposed Obamacare for the reasons you did he would have lost the election....
  • #47
    !
    @Elliotsreport

    You miss my point. In MO. the vote was against government mandated insurance OF ANY TYPE. IOW for government to butt out of something it has no business being involved in.

    As for my reasons for opposing Obamacare, you've referenced them twice now. What are they?

    "They are going to have to compromise," she warned. "It's not a dirty word."

    OK lets start this compromise by deciding how much spending we'll cut NEXT YEAR. Then the year after that. None of this ten year out crap where all of the spending is cut in the tenth year. Show some real results after that we can talk about other compromises.
  • #87
    !
    "... how much spending we'll cut NEXT YEAR ... " I agree. Let's start with the $1 trillion that House Republicans have been insisting upon for Defense, that Obama wants to cut, and the Pentagon says they don't need. That's a boatload of scratch right there.

    yes they were ugly. but i disagree, with barbara. according to the constitution: it is the job of every legislator, to represent the people of their district or state. and it is not their job, to represent the presidents ego.

    Congressional grid lock is a good thing for the country. The fewer laws they make the better off the country is. That is unless they're repealing laws or replacing the tax code.
