It is hard not to scream aloud when reading such unintelligent, uninformed statements coming from someone with pretensions to power. Yes, we do know how old the planet is. No, it is not 7,000 years old. And just a few days ago a prominent Republican was saying the GOP has got to stop being the party of stupid. They sure have a long way to go when this is the quality of the folks The Tea Party shoves in.

When you actually take a look at the choices the Republican Party has as potential candates, well there ain't much hope for'em. None whatsoever. The Grand Old Party is now just The Old Planters Party.

Who says "WE" know how old the earth is? How do YOU know how old the earth is? Did YOU read it out of a Book? Well ,so did I! The Author of the book I read was there when it happened. The author of yours wasn't even born. And i can't say that I am impressed with the jerks in YOUR crummy party.

@Electro I read the same book you did and am a Christian, too. I just don't mistake a book that is about morals and worship for a science textbook.

@Zazziness Oh, really a"science" textbook written by folks that were not present when the earth and universe evlolved, fumbled, bumbled iitsef into being. And God? He just sat on the sidelines and watched it happen. And I'm stupid because I don't believe this foolishness?

@Electro Well, I wouldn't say stupid but I would say stubborn and ill-informed. Scientists are not taking wild guesses about how it all happened. Multiple disciplines of science can present evidence our planet is billions of years old. Overwhelming evidence, in fact. As for what God was doing while the universe formed? That's a different question entirely. And that one is appropriate for the theologians. It isn't science or religion. You just have to use holy texts for their purpose and science texts for theirs.

Love ya Marco, but PLEASE stop pandering to the "Say Hallelujah" bible crowd. They cost us the last two elections, let's not make it three......

Yep, agree. But was I the only one that read "Rubio's implied view that the earth was created within the last 10,000 years is shared by 46% of Americans, according to a Gallup Poll.". Does that poll have a =/- of 1%??(think that would make it 47%.........bahaha)

Good to see someone speak his faith. Obama will tell you that he is a Christian to gain a vote and then go on to ignore every principle or understanding that it provides.

Marco Rubio is the hopeful GOP candidate and he is faithful man. A Cuban-American honest politician and senator from Florida. Rubio's the Kennedy of the Republican Party

@IraqWarVeteran I think Marco just blew it. no one is seeking an anti science president. Palin will clean his clock if that how he wants to run. Just dumb thing for him to sat

He is certainly a straight shooter and at least speaks his mind. Obama will tell you that he is a Christian if it means getting your vote, but will ignore every Christian principle or acknowledgement that exists thereafter.

I sported one of those on my car a long time ago, but gave it up after having it stolen, torn off, and having my car keyed by fanatical Christians.

Glad to see the anti-intellectual wrong of the GOP will be represented in the future. Sen Rubio won't speculate about geology because he's "not a scientist" but he's happy to opine on economics even though he's an attorney, not an economist.

This is just unbelievable, that in the 21st century we have possible Presidential candidates who are so mind-numbing stupid about how science works that they use the anti-science mantra of "It's just a theory." Yeah, it's a theory that has been verified and expanded upon by literally millions of graduate students the world over.

This is the problem. When a scientific question is answered with a theological response as being at all relevant, the ignorance on display is astonishing coming from someone trusted with making informed decisions. We know the age of the Earth with high precision. It is 4.567 billion years. If you don't know that, all you need say is I don't know. Looking to theology for the answer to a scientific question is so medieval and reflects poorly on our education system and one's sense of logic.

What does this subject have to do with the horrible state of politics and economics in the USA? These people are deliberately trying to create even more contention than we already have -- add this to all the other divisive matters Obama has created or revived.

Thank you Marco. Welcome to the Palin, Bachman, Santorum, Huckabie crowd. It's good to see another intellectual giant speak up.

It is a big mystery. We don't know if it's 4,500,001 years old 4,500,000 exactly, 4,500,023 years, etc... and we'll probably never know.

As usual the Libs are splitting hairs over some stupid non issue. You Libs all act like Rubio is going to bring back the inquisition. He just gave his honest answer. I care more what he or any other political is going to do to straighten out the economic quagmire were in now attributed more to the silly Dems then Republican.

So far BO is driving the car forward to the Greece pit instead of the recovery race track. I trust Rubio to get the job done along with Ron Paul. And Kennedy was a Catholic so there where concerns back then he would kowtow to the Pope. How did that turn out?!

46% of Americans believe the earth is only 10000 yrs. old! Our country is doomed. Half our nation is retarded in every sense of the word. That damned bible will be our undoing.

Freaking wolf disguised as a sheep! Keep on believing in this guy, you all don't know to what extreme he will go. I have seen this guy in other shapes and forms that just makes my skin crawl. Warning, just remember, Hitler, Castro, Stalin, at first they attain control to reach the ultimate power With power they have wealth and that is what he is trying to get to and satisfy his ego. This has been embeded in his mind and will by his Cuban American parents. He knows how to utilize people for his benefit not for the benefit of the nation. A woof in sheeps clothes with big fangs that won't show up untill the control is on his hands.

It's really sad that here in the 21st Century, people believe an absurd myth is history. This myth has plants growing before the sun was created. We know about photosynthesis now. The myth has a woman created from a man's rib. We know about DNA now.
