Obama wants to go off the cliff, and then he'll blame Republicans...It's in his 'plan'. I say go over, it will still be on his watch !

Mimi57, didn't you say you wanted to go over the cliff? Why blame obama now? When it was clearly your influence that convinced the repubs to oppose the plan!

    Agreed.
This is ALL about Obama, and his "power struggle"
And you just know that Obama and the rest of his illiterate followers will try and put thr blame on the GOP.
Going "off the cliff" might be the best thing to happen.
It will cut off Obama's spending binge.

I hope the same fate awaits Obama's gun control agenda. It burns me up to see all the liberals outraged over the kids being killed in Newtown but support 4,000 babies killed everyday by abortion. Except the kids' ages what is the difference?
Well, one difference is the fact that their mothers gave them life rather than aborted them. They are due a lot of credit for that.
These wonderful little kids' deaths would not be in totally wasted if their deaths shift the debate to abortion and it became recognized killing children, too.

and then you would be outraged at that politicization for your own cause right?

don't be outraged at them for something that you're advocating.

It burns me up to see how the "conservatives" are more concerned about losing their beloved assault weapons than all people that were gunned down in CT.
It further burns me up to see self righteous people throw red herrings like you are doing in re: abortion The 2 issues are separate.
Another very interesting thing is how the republicans/conservatives rushed the country into 2 wars where 6000 Americans were killed and over 1,000,000 innocent Iraqis. Of course we never hear the conservatives mention these grievous crimes against humanity...which they and all that voted for them are guilty for.

Only fear based inwardly insecure people feel a need to own guns. Secure, normal people do not. And assault weapons are made for war and need to go. There is no sane reason for anyone to own assault weapons. These weapons are designed for mass murder, as we have seen 3 times this year.

The Republicans, their voters, and the NRA are responsible for these mass murders. If Democrats could, we would completely banish private gun ownership or would severely restrict it with new law.

He should go with Obama's plan for the good of the country but when has the modern GOP ever put the good of the country ahead of the good of their party?

Let's all just hold hands. Libs and Conservatives and jump off that proverbial cliff. It'll hurt alot less than crashing the economy in the long run, and it's the only way these jackalopes are ever gonna do anything to fix the debt. Don't forget both of these idiots designed this fictional cliff. By idiots I mean Democrats and Republicans. No one is fully to blame here. They are all equal.

go tanning. Obama has wanted to go off a cliff since the beginning. way back when he appointed the super duper special elite panelists to address this issue months ago, and threatened if they couldn't come up with an answer we would go off the cliff. well they didn't even work at it. they had no intentions of ever doing anything except raise taxes on everyone... but all this drama and theatre has made it possible for Obama to blame the Republicans and raise taxes on everyone. so Obama comes out the big winner and that was his goal from the beginning.

This whole crap of Obama selling out the boomers has done it for me. Go the hell off the cliff. Let everyone suffer. The boomers paid in their entire working lives and the govt stole that money. NOW the young don't want to pay for the boomers and every politician alive is willing to sell them out. Fine, go off the cliff. You can come with the seniors. You can bail out everyone in sight but you can't pay back money stole? Off the cliff.

@PNWest You know one of the few principals I have is to try and make decisions based on more than just what I want. I don't need social security. But a hell of a lot of people who have contributed to this country for the past 50 years should have some dignity in their last years and not be warehoused in some ghetto apt eating cat food for dinner because our govt stole their money. obama has done it for me. He went to the wire for gays, for illegals, for Fannie and Freddie, for AVG, for Chrysler, for GMC and the banks and wall street but he's going to cut the old folks pittance of a cost of a living raise when those people washington get raises every year? Up yours obama.

How will that help? The problem is with the very hard line conservatives who need to snag dictionaries and look up words like compromise and accommodate. The GOP is in such total disarray.

Yea the something else is the Republicans should have written their own bill extending the Bush tax cuts, then sent it over to the senate, then if we do go over the cliff it would be on them. Cause as it stands now it appears to be republicans holding up the show, which isn't true, Obama is the one not really negotiating.

He offered to raise the "wealth tax" to incomes over $400k, and essential remove COL increases from Social Security. How far over does he need to bend?

It doesn't matter, Obama was going to take us over the cliff anyway. No way he was going to agree to anything. If the republicans said OK, we agree to anything you want, Obama would have withdrawn the offer and asked for $3T in revenue. The whole plan is to raise taxes on everyone, drastically cut defense, and blame the republicans. Then our Idiot in Chief proceeds to spend every penny of additional revenue, and count the defense cuts as reductions, so he can ask for even more revenue. This president is hell bent on destroying our country by turning it into a socialist welfare state. Go ahead liberals, tell me I am wrong. Wait 2 or 3 years, you will see. If the Idiot is successful, and can convince the American public that whatever happens is all the fault of republicans, he hopes to destroy all opposition. That will let him move with impunity to change our form of government to a socialist democracy, which is what he wants.

Well, the ball is back in Obama's court now. Obama now hat to either propose a plan that can pass both houses or just shut up about it. So much for leadership and being presidential and all. Go over the cliff, wreck what's left of the economy, his plan all along as far as I can tell, and then all the low information voters who voted for instant gratification via taxes on anyone else but them, will see, no presents available, no money to pay for them, no jobs and no hope. But they can sleep well at night, they voted for the "Kool" Guy who apparently lives on late night TV or on the campaign trail. Sure the media will blame the Republicans, we were going to get the blame no matter what we did, so sit back, leave the ball in Obama's court and let the world see just what he's made of.

This is just sad! President Obama makes the consessions we wanted and our Repulican legislators won't even pass it? I am a Republican, but I am sadly disappointed in their actions! They are not acting on behalf of their constituents, instead they are being words that I do not say! I cannot find a copy of the bill put before the house, but President going to $1million instead of $250,000 is something most Republicans wanted. I would hope the inheritance tax was included. A person works his whole life to make that money and has already paid taxes on it. The government should not be allowed to double dip in the same candy jar. I consider that theft. A lot of people could lose their family farms because they could not come up with 55% of the value of the land in money. Then the government would come in and take all of the land, not just 55% of the land

I am so freaking tired of people wanting to punish success in this country. IT DOESN'T HELP ANYONE TO TAX THE RICH. first of all, it isn't fair. Secondly, Obama's plan for taxing the rich would only fund the government for EIGHT DAYS. Before you assume I'm a rich old white guy, let me tell you that I work in a fast food restaurant. I make minimum wage. But you know what? There is no reason the owner of the restaurant should have to pay more in taxes than I do. There aren't enough rich people to tax!! People like me are the ones who foot the bill for crazy spending by Obama. He can tax all the rich people he wants, and he still won't have enough money. Eventually, these rich people are going to go live somewhere where they aren't taxed to death, and I don't blame them. It's their money.

If the President wants to do his job and get off his lazy behind a make a counter offer, they should consider it. If not, let us go off the cliff. It'll be balked on the President, because ultimately if he has offers on his desk and does not counter them the responsibility lands at him. Plus, he's President. Congress didn't fix the 80s economy. Reagan did.

Have you ever had that feeling of bafflement when someone says something that is just so wrong that you don't know where to begin, and feel like there is probably no point in saying anything at all, yet it is so appalling that you just can't go past it, sort of like driving past a car crash and trying your best not to look?

Your father must be very proud, because you are way too young to be coming up with this jive on your own. I'm sure that Ronald "Spend Ourselves Rich" Reagan would be pleased, too.

The one truth that we should all, always remember is that a politician will sell us out when ever it best suits him/her. These people have no principle, little to no honor and have 0 loyalty to their oath of office.
