What a beautiful Christmas "gift" to the Newtown Police on behalf of fellow officers around the state. Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to Newtown and to the Great State of Connecticut!:)

This is the kind of news you like to hear about. And let's be magnanimous this day folks. Without government there would be no Police departments. This is a good one for all concerned.

"Without government there would be no Police departments."

You're right; people would simply work with their neighbors to assure mutual safety and security.

Sort of like the way officers from surrounding departments did this.... without government or media... you simply step up and do the right thing. Too bad we have government and it's supporters who don't trust us.

I'm thrilled to have the holiday pass without hearing the story I was expecting... a family unable to deal with the loss taking their own lives. THANK'S GOD...

Without government organizing a police department the strongest would abuse the weakest not protect them. Look anywhere in the world was order is not enforced by the government and see that chaos rules or the powerful and well armed abuse the weak and unarmed minorities.
People who want this only want it because they think that they will be the powerful ones abusing others.

A great idea, exicuted to perfection, and all in the name of giving to others.
    All without big brothers involvement.

Very nice of them to do that. Christmas always seems to bring out the best in people. It's such a shame that we do not keep it in our hearts every day of the year. It would be a better world if we did.

Coming from a law enforcement family this does not surprise me one bit. LEO's, firefighters, teachers, and nurses are the most compassionate folks I have ever met. May those officers covering shifts be sage and return to their families without harm. Merry Christmas everyone!

Selfless actions like this deserves TWO thumbs up!
No need to drag devisive politics into the mix. Leave the good deeds uncluttered by partisan tack!
    Merry Christmas!

Anyone who thinks this is a selfless act is a fool. They know a promotional opportunity when they see it and extra over-time, it's all about the money.

We may disagree on many things but not this. Blessings on them all, both working and staying home, and all those on this forum on both sides who care.

Policemen and women statewide have stepped up to cover the shifts, allowing Newtown officers to be home with their families for the holidays.

Wow!! and seemed to take place and work without Over Bearing Obama intervention.

Obama can't direct local cops anyway unless there's a federal state of emergency declared. This favor was performed by their law enforcement brothers and sisters in the public employee unions. Good for them.
