He, and others like him, really want to do away with the 2nd amendment. They simply do not have the courage to say so out loud. We must unite and defeat these sinister forces among us who want to take away our freedoms.

I have done nothing wrong with any of my firearms, why should i be punished for those that goverment can not control? The damage comes from the deadbeats that goverment has created, let them pay the consequence not the law abiding. Cuomo is an idiot.

All lovers of freedom and the constution need to stand together and fight if the need arises. I for one don't want to see the day our countrys changes to a dicatorship, and I don't want to expain to my grand kids one day how we used to be a free country, NOT ON MY WATCH!!

Assult Rifles are select fire weapons that have been heavily regulated for decades. Funny that elected officials do not even know what an assault rifle is.

Just like they don't understand methamphetamine is illegal yet criminals still have it. Just like murder is illegal yet criminals still kill.

Yea, I never understood why they are calling semi-automatic rifles assault weapons. I think maybe just because it sounds scarier to the public...

@PoliticalSpice You are right! It is the scary BIG BAD BLACK ASSAULT RIFLE affect. When you teach people to fear something they eventually learn to hate that item.

We gone around enough for me to know what i say won't make any difference to you, but let me tell you a few things about cuomo. First he is not a progressive, not even a liberate. He is working to help keep the republican in majority in the ny senate because he doesn't want the legislature in assembly and senate to be both dems. He has worked to prevent a legalization of marijuna measure being supported by trying to instead have it reduced to a violation from a crime, he has put a cap on property taxes. He has been tough on unions. He is a catholic, not an atheist, and his liberal reputation is that of his dad, just as rand pauls reputation is of his dads. Neither is the real thing...

He is doing this in new york, where gun ownership is not considered a big deal. He wouldn't even try it if he wasn't pretty sure he could win. He is doing it with an eye toward placating the liberal base of dem party, who are not pleased with him. He had big thoughts revolving around 3 or 12 years in the future. And I hope i'm never faced with having him as the choice to pick over a republican...

@marine1 once all the guns are confiscated the criminals will have an open invitation to do what ever they want... what can go wrong?

I'm willing to cut him a deal. Persuade thugs, criminals, and gangs to give up theirs first then I'll feel safe enough to give up mine. Until then I'll agree with him - NY Governors shouldn't have guns. LOL

I ask for information only: how many robberies or muggings have you fended off with  your firearm?
  • #14
    !
@DARSB I don't know about Rocker, but guns are used thousands of times every day to prevent crimes from happening.

If you don't believe that then why don't you interview a few of those muggers and robbers to see if they prefer their victims to be armed or unarmed? Never hurts to ask. Well unless you don't want to know the answer.
  • #23

@DARSB i have a few times. only called the cops once though, waste of time they want to check me out on my own property. one thing for sure you do not want to be waiting on them if in danger.

Using the terrible tragedy in Connecticut to push his political goals? Who is he going to get to confiscate the citizens of New York's guns?

If they are pro gun control they are scared of them. If they are pro freedom then they will refuse to do it.

And at what point does he plan to shoot those who absolutely refuse to give up their guns?
Remember if guns are outlawed only the government and other criminals will have them.
  • #18

Very well said. I also find it repulsive that anyone would use a tragedy like this to further their own political agendas.
  • #21
    !
@OhWiseOne Thanks. This has peaked my interest.

Wonder how the governor would go about confiscating citizens' firearms once they are outlawed? And if he doesn't plan on confiscation then what point is there to yet another useless toothless law?
  • #29
    !
@Canoochee IMO they would send armed federal agents in tactical gear to your house to get your guns. I absolutely believe that the left does not believe in private gun ownership and they would use law enforcement to carry out their plans.
  • #33
    !
@OhWiseOne How many federal agents could be counted on to fire on their fellow citizens? How many in the National Guard?

I don't believe there would be more than a handful of people in this country that would shoot a fellow citizen for refusing to give up his/her lawfully obtained firearms. I am curious to see what the left has to say on the subject.

@Canoochee The day I am told to confiscate firearms from law abiding citizens is the day I turn my badge in. Everybody I work with feels the same way.

Getting gun laws passed is so much easier than actually addressing the problem, which in the case of mass shootings is ALWAYS mental illness. But solving that problem would be too difficult, so let's just outlaw those types of guns ... oh, wait ... that would mean pretty much all types, wouldn't it? Sheesh. Most politicians, Cuomo included, wouldn't know an assault rifle if you shot them in the butt with one. Assault is a label of fear. May as well just come out and say "let's make everyone afraid enough to get some legislation passed and make us all look good in the eyes of the sheeple and get re-elected." I say put your political power and money where your other orifice is, and mandate changes in how we research, fund, and handle mental illness.

People do hunt with assault rifles but that's not really th issue here. The guns were obtained illegally. Shootings like the one he mentioned are almost exclusively premeditated and near impossible to stop beforehand. So yeah, makes perfect sense, pass even more laws to strip the law abiding citizens of their weapons so the criminals will be the only ones to have them. This fantasy world that the left created that banning weapons stop their use by criminals never ceases to amaze me, especially when there are numerous countries around the world that directly contradict this dumbass line of reasoning.

@Mogal If you have never fished with dynamite (I know dynamite is not a torpedo) then you have never truly went fishing.

I have taken deer with the same Bushmaster M4 that I carry at work. Oh and it even has a can on it. That's scary ain't it.

@WilliamWallace The Coast Guard frowns on things like that. ;)
We bow hunt, my husband used to hunt with a Galil, but then thought better of it. We are both IPSIC shooters and are pro 2nd Amendment, but are rather apalled by some of the crazies that have come out to play on this issue, so to speak.

Why does our government want to disarm it's lawful citizens but can't disarm it's unlawful citizens? Sometimes I feel the sheepherder is tying down his sheep and turning his head so that the wolves can have a free meal! From my cold, dead hand....

@marine1 I think society is incompetent when dealing with bad people. Take for instance the psyco that set the fires and killed the firefighters. He should have been out to death or in prison for te rest of his life when he commited murder the first time. When we let people like this out into society again what do we expect.

I know this does not stop all of the problems but it would help a large percentage of them. It is a start that actually does something and it does not hurt law abiding citizens.

While I agree I dont need an asualt rifle to protect my home, it's not is right or anyone else right to tell me what I do and don't need. This is just the first step in a long line of things that will lead to total government control of everything, what we can and can't eat, what we can ans can't watch, or believe....we give in now they will not stop....look at England, it's illegal to own a pocket knife.....whether or not you agree with gun ownership, caving on this will only lead to more, invasion into our rights. What's the old saying "How do you eat an elephant, on bite at a time"...how do you obtain tyrannical control, remove one right at a time.....lobster, pot.....

Or tell us what law could be passed that would prevent future mass shootings?

Don't let these people like Cuomo take away or infringe Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms as they are trying to do.

Cuomo has heavily armed security with him 24/7 but wants to deny law-abiding citizens who can't afford his kind of security the ability to protect themselves.
