    Jay Rockefeller and his family are a corrosive force in this world. I guess he's off to some untouchable position in the Trilateral commission, CFR and or Builderberg. These guys don't retire, they just become more evil and tyrannical.

    No one should be in public office for 30 years. A public servant should only serve for 2 terms and then go home and get a job. No more government pensions and perks for life. An ignorant electorate and this mentality of buying votes with political favors is ruining our country.

    I Iived in West Virginia for six years. Loved the state, but hated the politics. Byrd and Rockefeller both started with good intentions and then they shifted to the "what's good for me" attitude. Like they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Enough with these career politicians!

    They all do. Every single one of them goes to Washington and realizes immediately they have to play ball with their parties corruption or they don't get re-elected. The party will dry up their money, work against them behind the scenes, render them wallflowers and turn them out. This is what you get with career politicians. TERM LIMITS!!

    2014 is an eternity away, in political terms, but it's hard to see the current GOP leadership making the necessary changes to regain its popularity and Senate seats.

    wv and conservative and the two southern states mentioned are conservative. That means repubs only have to win two dems seats to take the chamber. On that basis I voted repub chances to take senate are "fair." But I am rooting for tea party, they have blown iat three certian senate seats in recent years. If they continue running candidates calling for "2nd amnd remedies," those who say women get pregant if rape is not legitimate, and those running tv ads saying "i'm not a witch" the dems senate majority is safe...

    As a Conservative. I have little faith in the GOP, at this point. They need to grow a spine and stick to their principles.

    As for Rockefeller, glad to see another Limosine Liberal going away.

    Thanks to the senate democrats acting like yes men/women to anything Obama puts forth, the country is getting tired of it. Now thanks to Obama turning himself into a one man show(formerly known as a dictator) to use Executive privilege to do what ever he wants, the country is not going to like him much. Those both leave big openings for republican(you know, the ones that do not want to dictate to you instead of letting you make your own decisions) in the Senate to make great gains. Then the President turned dictator will have made Amercans mad enough at him to leave a huge hole for a republican to step into. Hopefully the presidents orders can be overturned and our country can go back to being free. Republican stand by our constitution! No more drones flying over our own country spying on its own citizens, a president that will protect your rights. All of them, not just the second amendment that Obama is stomping all over! We live in America! The government has no right to spy on us with drones, take away our freedom of speech or to take away our right to own guns! Just watch and see how much more smoothly our country will run again! I severely dislike what Obama is doing now. My friends who are democrats feel the same way! Obama ran on change, yep he changed our country by taking away our rights one by one. He does not care to uphold the constitution as he swore to do when inaugurated the first time. This time he is doing it in private. Hopefully it will not be 4 more years for him. Going against our constitution is an impeachable offense. The senate has a little more time, but it will be majority republican once again.

    Oh come on now. The right said the same exact thing you're saying here about Clinton. It's not just obama. Washington D.C. is corrupt to the core, both parties and will continue to be long after Obama is gone.

    @jessejaymes
    You maybe right. I doubt it. Obama is overstepping his bounds! Trying to do away with our second amendment rights is further than any other president has gone. He put his hand on Lincoln's Bible and swore to uphold our nations constitution! That includes the second amendment. Of course back then he claimed to be a Christian. He makes no such claim now, so that Bible he was swearing on may have meant nothing to him.
    There may be corrupt politicians, it just so happens the worst offender happens to be the president!

    @BelinKS Let's get a couple of things clear here. I am not a liberal. I am a moderate. I don't like Obama, didn't vote for Obama. HOWEVER many of the things you claim is Obama's fault is not. This whole gun thing is a result of some high profile shootings starting with Giffords, Aurora, NewTown and numerous other lower profile. I'm a gun person. But to blame Obama for reacting to public pressure is wrong. He has not made a move on guns until the public (at over 60%) started demanding that he do. He actually relaxed gun laws until all this crap started up. And I think you're being a bit hysterical since all Politicians react to public opinion but rarely come through with their rhetoric. As for Obama not being a Christian you can't prove that. That's beneath you. He gave the OK to kill Bin Laden. He's killed more Al-Quada than Clinton and Bush II put together. That's really not an issue here to anyone but the far right and you wasn't voting for a liberal anymore than i was. Come on now. Both parties are corrupt to the core. You're a conservative? Then help build a third party. Vote Libertarian.

    @jessejaymes
    The libertarian party only divides Rebublicans and lets Democrats win. I will not go for that. Look way back, Obama was against guns at the start. He just left it alone for the first 4 years. He wanted to get re-elected. Now that he doesn't have to worry about ever being elected again, he is going to do what ever he wants. That 60% you stated is not a poll of all America just a portion. And where was that poll taken? Not in the south, I promise you!
    He claimed to be a Christian during his first campaign. I have not heard him say so since. I do not know if he is a Christian or not. That does not mean I think he is a Muslim. There is a news pundit right now starting on that Obama should be against swearing in on the Bible. He says that since Michelle Obama is descended from slaves she should not want to hold a Bible for her husband to take the oath of office on. He says since the Bible has a passage about how to treat slaves she should not want to. He then goes on about the Bible being against homosexuality. Obama should not want to put his hand on it. The Israelites were slaves for many generations. I wonder if that crossed his mind when he decided to use it when he was picking and choosing things from the Bible to try to prove his point. Of course he's had more AlQuida than Clinton and Bush. At one point before the attacks ever happened, Clinton knew exactly where Osama BinLaden was and did not act on it. Bush didn't have as much time as Obama. Of course he gave the Okay to kill BinLaden. If the US citizens found out that he knew where BinLaden was and did not act they would have tore him a new one.

    I have the right to voice my opinion, right now. Obama has drones flying all over the US spying on his own citizens. He is now resorting to executive privilege to pass what ever gun control,(wait sorry they are calling it gun safety now. What a ruse.) he wants. He is just using Biden to make it look like he is taking advice into consideration. He ready knows what he is going to do. He (I hate to say it this way since I am a mother whose child died) just got lucky with some bad gun violence perpetrated by an evil man who stole legally purchased guns then proceeded to kill his own mother with her own gun and then go down the street and killed small children. All more legislation is going to do is make it even harder to legally buy guns and ammo by law abiding citizens. That's only if he keeps himself reigned in. He could go so far as to try to confiscate legal guns from law abiding citizens. It won't include the criminals and their guns. They were not bought or stole legally anyway so they will not be on a data base like the law abiding citizens. That will just mean the criminals will be well armed and the rest of us won't? What do you think about that paper that listed all the legal gun owners and where they live, even police officers?That just gave criminals a road map. If they just want to steal things and maybe rape your wife and daughter with out getting shot, they know where to go. Then there are the criminals who want to steal more guns, now they know just where to go. Obama is doing this gun thing on his own via executive privilege.
    My mom and I are going out tomorrow to get these 2 guns we both want but have been putting off buying. Not anymore. We have clear backgrounds and are going to stock up on ammo in case he taxes it sky high. I'm going to get my mom to the firing range to get better. She already passed her tests, she's just a little rusty. My husband is going to get this shot gun he's been wanting.

    term limits are essential in all publicly-appointed positions. people should aspire to politics to make a contribution to society, not to live off taxpayer money. remove the lifetime benefits.

    Sure you are. Term limits are a zero tolerance policy,a nd as always, they are for those with zero intelligence or willingness to look at each situation on its own merits.

    what if you have the best representative EVER? S/He's still outta there. not to mention the fack that your gov't would now be run by all rookies...not a good plan.

    As a resident who lives in WV, and who has lived in TN and GA, I have seen and heard a lot of ignorant people who still cannot get their minds wrapped around having a black president. They still think he's a muslim who wasnt born here, and a communist who wants to take their guns away. I am in no way exaggerating. On the other hand, I would bet money that over the course of the next 9-10 months you will see the GOP behaving very differently, very liberal ( for them) if not at least centrist.

    yet i so often hear people in the area claim, or really bemoan, the fact taht coal provides the only jobs. Why don't they elect someone who can find a way to brong other jobs to the area? isn't it pretty there?( where they haven't destroyed the land, that is) how 'bout tourism? pretty close to the eastern seaboard with millions of people looking to get away from the ugly cities for a while...
