Hey... the blood of 20 children is too good to waste. It coagulates rapidly and with it the unthinking emotional reactions making it less effective to grease the skids of the democratic political agenda.

El Presidente' has already made it quite clear that he intends to circumvent the constitutional process to get his way and make sure the Eric Holder Rio Grande Backdoor Gun Shop is doing business Fast and Furious.

We wouldn't want Illegal Aliens at a disadvantage if they choose to pursue a life of crime.... after all the Constitution assures them the right to bear arms.

We must all be proud of our elected officials for using the still-warm bodies of 20 little kids to further their agenda. That's pretty much living proof there is not much left of what once made this country great. Anyone wanting high-capacity automatic weapons will just get them from Mexico along with all the illegal drugs. Laws don't stop criminals; if they did we would not have criminals. DUH!

Hey... the blood of 20 children is too good to waste for democrats and most of all democrats with BIGGER political aspirations. It's nothing new they always wallow in the blood for their self interest. Disgusting as usual.

Liberals ALWAYS pose a threat to our Constitutional freedoms. They only wait for the right tragedy to exploit. It was Rahm Emmanuel, Obama's former right hand man, and current mayor of Chicago, who said "Never let a good crisis go to waste." No one who is serious about liberty can EVER vote for a modern Democrat.

@Fishbone345 a response to 9/11 was not warranted? Newtown, CT is hardly anywhere near of a comparison to 9/11.

And national defense spending is "conservative" propaganda?

Thank a soldier next time you see one for your freedom to be able to express that idea and opinion, freely.

I understand the visceral response to the senseless killing of children. I have kids and grandchildren of my own. But, these knee-jerk reactions that produce bad laws are not the way to go. If you don’t like the wording of the Second Amendment, then hold a constitutional convention and change it ... Do not try to redefine and circumvent it. Remember, as it stands, the most important words in the 2nd Am. Are,“... Shall not be infringed.” That means ANY restrictions on gun ownership are illegal under the constitution. Don’t like that? Change it. Have a convention and let the people have their say ... And their vote!

The NRA is too strong to really get any serious gun control at this time. The dems are using this as a wedge issue to keep the righties occupied and hopefully make them look stupid in the public's mind. They image of a bunch of gun nuts screaming about their 2nd amendment rights contrasts while funerals for those poor kindergarten children are going on doesn't help the GOP at all. Making the GOP look more extreme on guns and the economy puts the dems in a stronger position for 2014 and beyond.

The NRA is strong because it actually crosses political lines on a one issue item. Democratic politicians need to understand something the more you tell someone they can't have something the more they want it. You obviously haven't been around people who have NRA stickers and Union stickers on their hardhats maybe then you'd begin to grasp that people's votes aren't always a guarenteed slam dunk.

And all these laws, regulations and proposals + a couple hundred dollars will still buy the "unlawful" just about any gun they want! Besides, if I want an assault gun, I know I just have to visit Mexico! I heard the CIA gives them out down there for free!

That is how those chicago politicians do things and then try to blame it on smeone else. I would like to give chicago back to WI. but they are to smart to fall for that one.

@marine1 Franken-finestien stated that citizens should not be allowed to carry guns, says the woman with the CCW for a .38. It's just like Obamacare its ok to force it on us as long as they don't have to live by it.

They want to please the liberal citizens of their states who are the ones making the most noise. They have a tendancy to do that. You always hear left wing liberals making a ruckus about some subject or another. Maybe the moderates and conservatives should raise a stink about anything they want also. The loud ruckus these liberals make is probably why they think they are the majority on all issues. They can't hear anyone else's opinion because they will not shut up long enough to do so. Also, and a gun owner and a person that stands by out second amendment, I don't care about the size of magazine clips and I need to know exactly what guns they consider to be assault rifles. That is too broad a term.

All this is great for gun and ammo manufacturers. Firearms and bullets ate selling so fast, retailers can't keep their racks and shelves stocked.

That's how it's seemed to me -- one big sales pitch. The gun manufacturers to sell guns and the media to garner hits.

Conservatives ALWAYS pose a threat to our Constitutional freedoms. They only wait for the right tragedy to exploit. It was conservative Sarah Palin who said Obama was "shuckin' and jivin' " and Governor John Sununu who said Obama was "lazy", stereotypes recognized instantly by blacks and others. No one who is serious about liberty can EVER vote for a modern Republican.

@AceLuby It's been really weird watching the hysteria accelerate when as far as I can tell NO ONE and I mean NO ONE has said they intend to ban guns.

@Zazziness But then you'd be wasting a perfectly good opportunity to sell more guns, which is what the NRA is really about anyway. They don't care about gun owners, just gun manufacturers.
  • #25

@AceLuby The NRA is a big part of it, yes, but part of it is the media, too. Politix gets the hits by adding blurbs about it, so they add more blurbs. The TV networks do the same. They all seem desperate for a gut-level, emotional issue to put people into dramatic conflict and the budget is too cerebral a subject to get that same hormone-level response. It's going to be a long three years till they have the next election to wallow in, I think.

Yes, they are. Yes, they are a threat. No, they will not succeed. All they will do is to turn honest, taxpaying citizens into criminals, at least according to the book. The big test will be if they can actually get the police to enter homes to go after the guns, and what will happen if the cops try. Instead of dealing with the real problems, both the existing problems on the streets and the problem of mental health issues, the Liberals choose to go after homeowners who want to protect their property and legal, rural hunters. My prediction is that people hold onto their guns, and anything that is not legal is not reported. No way I turn in any of my magazines or my guns. Everyone I talk to feels the same. So unless the Liberals get Law Enforcement to do a house by house search of every neighborhood they won't find them....and we won't tell.

Of course they are. I sort of object to how the term Liberal is used in the USA. I'm a TRUE Liberal, i.e., one LIBERALLY interpreting the Bill of Rights to FAVOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, not trying to abrogate their freedoms. The pseudo-liberals in Congress are salivating over the latest mass shooting because it provides them an opportunity to DISTRACT THE PUBLIC'S ATTENTION from the TRUE PICTURE of firearms' violence in America as ACCURATELY PORTRAYED in US Department of Justice Reports, SEE THEM at assaultweaponsbanof2013 dot blogspot dot com. The Reports present a true and correct picture of gun crime, "it's a relatively rare event". The mass shootings are TREMENDOUS PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES for the gun-grabbing ghouls because as the US Department of Justice itself states: "...the debates tend to be DOMINATED BY ANECDOTES AND EMOTION RATHER THAN EMPIRICAL FINDINGS" (emphasis added) Source: "Impacts of the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994", US Department of Justice, publication no. NCJ-173405. See the report, and download it an others FREE at assaultweaponsbanof2013 blogspot dot com It will also make it clear to the reader WHY there is a BAN currently on Gun Research: The US Department of Justice CANNOT be made to COOK THE BOOKS, and the statistics DO NOT side with the very deceitful and manipulative gun-grabbers.

Why do the liberals think criminals should be the only people allowed to own assault rifles.

The bottom line is, if these lawmakers want to pass this kind of legislation, they need to repeal or modify the second amendment. Otherwise, the policy would be in direct conflict with it, and the Constitution always wins in our democracy.
