When Republicans took control of the House in 2011, they promised regular readings of the constitution. The second full reading happened this morning, but alas, few members attended.
Who was there? Well, only 74 of 435 members read, and they ran out of Democrats to read "before they even got past Article IV," the Washington Times reports.
The 13th Amendment, which ended slavery, was read by the civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis of Georgia. Nancy Pelosi sat through most of the document, following along in her own copy.
