I believe that any member of Congress who was absent should have to immediately forfeit 1 month's pay and allowances! Bet that would improve attendance

66 minutes of mental masturbation. How long will it take these numb nuts who have no demonstrable knowledge of how to govern to learn what they are in congress for?

Republicans like to wear flag pins, recite the pledge of allegiance, and waste valuable time reading the constitution out loud while the cameras roll and then go back to their offices to take orders from the Koch brothers on how to best circumvent the will of the people. The really incredible part of all of this is that so many GOP supporters buy into this crap.

You are SOOOOO right! This was nothing more than false marketing when they should have been spending their time offering suggestions for what military spending cuts would be agreeable to them.

And Democrats stand up on stage and wipe themselves with the document claiming it's the right thing to do...While liberal lemmings burn the American flag.

@cwi530 Thanks for reminding about another stupid thing the righties like to do. Every couple of years they try to get an amendment to the constitution to ban flag burning. These morons care more for the symbols than the country itself.

@PNWest That will never happen. It's freedom of expression.

Burning the Mexican flag is a hate crime.

They should read the Constitution on their own time if they don't know what it says. Spend the time in session doing something productive.

What the hell are they doing in congress if they don't understand the intent of the constitution. It is suppose to be the foundation for everything they think they need to do.

@SignifiedNBlue I'll take that a step further; they should be required to prove memorization and comprehension before they're permitted to run.

I used to love the way Robert Byrd always had a copy of the Constitution in his pocket - and his eagerness to read it to misguided Senators.

How many Democrats got sick to their stomachs as the Constitution is read and it contradicted a large part of their ideology? I wish I could have been there to see that. Here Democrat, I got a waste basket, vomit over into this. LOL.

Neo, you are assuming that any in that room has a conscience that would allow them to believe they are wrong in their ideology and then equate that to make them sick! We are talking about congress.....remember!

How many Republicans got sick at the thought of the Constitution applying EQUALLY to ALL United States citizens.

Well, I was replying to Neo, who thinks rightwing extremists walk on water and anyone left of extreme right is going to take us on a race to hell!

HMM....how about we give weekly random pop quiz's on the Constitution.!0 questions, multiple choice, less than 90% right leads to that weeks pay and benefits held back from them! That held back pay/benefits would help pay for this program!
That's the LAW ON THE LAND and most would fail miserably IMO.

On the other hand we could get some tar and feather and bunch of rails and deal with those "absent" from ANY gathering of congress.
  • #21
    !
@stepped_in_it You know the mere fact that these people have "crisis" after crisis going right to the deadline and even when they're supposed to be in session they aren't there? A pox on both parties. These people think they're Dukes and Earls and it's time to throw some people out of office. We might start with ALL OF THEM.
  • #24
    !
@jessejaymes Ok.....back with the tar and feathers and now all you want me to do is throw them out <face in palms and VERY disappointed looking>
And I agree 100%. Voted green and for no incumbent....and will do so until further notice!

Only 74 of the 435 members of The House of Representatives attending a reading of The Constitution should paint a very clear and vivid picture to the people of The United States that our elected officials could care less about what is the law and following it. Welcome to Great Britain at the time of The Revolution folks!

This makes about as much sense as a pilot brushing up on aero dynamics as everyone boards the plane.
There are some things you should know before attempting to do them.

"When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men."
    Matthew 6

And if they won't even listen to themselves, why should we listen to them.

I'd be pleased if they just respected it! They can read it on their own time, and they should already be familiar with it.
