National Rifle Association President David Keene claims he and his family have received "hundreds" of death threats, which he blames on President Obama and "the left. "
Keene, head of the powerful gun rights group, made the comments on the conservative talk show "Istook Live" on Thursday. He said the death threats emerged because of the "uncivil way in which ideologues on the left in this country go after their enemies." He said it shows "the reflection of the left and the president's attempt to demonize and blame those who disagree with them for everything that he doesn't like," according to Breitbart.com
President Obama unveiled a comprehensive plan to reduce gun violence this week, following up on a promise to take meaningful action after last month's mass-shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. The plan calls for universal background checks, and a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines.
The NRA has come under fire recently for bringing President Obama's daughters into the debate. The group released a video ad that asserts other schoolchildren deserve armed guards like the president's daughters have at their school.
