Couldn't agree more. The low information voters have no idea how much the national debt is expanding and will take generations to pay. They go along with every whim of whatever celebrity says should be important, regardless as to whether it's right or wrong.

A good example is the "Obama Phone Lady." Dems are more more optimistic because they will be getting more "free" stuff from the Fed.

@methinks Except, of course, that phone program was started under Reagan.
Speaking of low info voters, this would be a classic example.

Most of the economic numbers are inching up, we're out of Iraq and leaving Afghanistan, the deficit is smaller now than 4 years ago, the country keeps working despite the best efforts of our government, and Beyonce doesn't lip-sync.

I am still terribly distressed over the lack of interest in a constitutional amendment requiring government-funded free beer, but otherwise...

Heard on the radio today our local National Guard was leaving today for Iraq to support Afghanistan for a 1 year stint.....Want our men out of those holes and hope they don't complete this year......but

@stepped_in_it For some strange reason our govt claims "all combat troops are gone" yet there are still thousands and thousands of "trainers, advisors" and billion in military equipment in those countries. You suppose if they're attacked they will defend themselves? I would call that combat troops.

Of course not. But it's human nature. Whoever holds the White House, the majority of their party will claim optimism more than the other party will.
  • #103
    !
No, it's because without a job it's hard to pay the rent. But with uncle obama in the White House many liberals know they don't need a job, he'll provide for them (through the money he'll steal from hardworking conservatives). Liberals are optimistic because they know a free obamaphone is on the way. Conservatives are pessimistic because we know we're the ones that are going to get the bill.

Human nature is only part of it. To admit the failure of Barack Husssein Obama's economic policies is to admit their own greed for his handouts.
  • #126
    !
No, Democrats tend to be more intrinsically optimistic than Republicans.

It's one of the main causes for the lack of communication between the two groups.

I completely understand this. Why shouldn't hispanics and blacks feel optimistic? They are the future of this once great nation. It will descend into the 3rd world though. Rather quickly I might add.
You see, this has been the plan for at least 50 years. Replace the white majority with a non-white majority and it has been very effective.

Of course they are. Using all government handouts they can grab and not 'having' to work..of course. Those of us that support you good for nothings are only seeing our EARNED pay decreasing as our government slowly brainwashes the masses with 'free' garbage. Vote Democrat and leech off every one else, should be the motto.

Some of the numbers sure seem to be lookin better, but I say lets don't bring the jury in the courtroom just yet.
As for those who say things are great, well, for them I am sure it is.
If you live off the system and the system is giving up more, well.
But some of us work for a living, really don't see things getting better in my area.
  • #36
    !
Maybe you should strive to make things better for yourself. I've increased my income $30k in the last year, and I guarantee you that it wasn't because the 'system is giving up more'.
  • #63
    !
@AceLuby i realize that because you got yourself a little bump in pay of $30,000 a year you are feeling like the center of the universe, but neither you or me are the only people in America, and America is hurting.
Now I know little things like 157,000 new jobs created makes you all warm and fuzzy inside, but see, I see the 270,000 new unemployed, and I see still more hemorrhaging.
  • #71
    !
@Thegrif You inferred that the only people better off are those living off the system because the system is giving more. What I'm saying is that is completely false.

Regarding jobs, the private sector will never create jobs w/out the demand necessary for those jobs. Since the private sector isn't creating jobs, demand will never get a boost. Cutting taxes, removing regulation, and cutting spending will have no positive effect on that demand and will therefore not create jobs. If you want to see less hemorrhaging we are going to need to address the real problem, demand, and figure out the easiest way to positively effect it.

There is a similar "optimism" among the North Koreans for their leader.

You're funny. DJIA when Obama was sworn in on 1/20/09 7,949.09. DJIA at close today - 13,944.05. That's up 75%! Compare this to the reign of incompetence under George W Bush.... DJIA when Bush was installed by the USSC on 1/20/01 10,587.59. DJIA when Bush was finally replaced by duly elected President Obama on 1/20/09 7,949.09. That's DOWN 25%. Tell me again about what I don't know about Economics.

@PNWest I doubt the servers have drive space to tell you what you don't know. If the economy is so good why is average family income down by 4000 per household? If the economy is so good why is unemployment still reported to be nearly 8%? If the economy is so good why are there still more people unemployed than when THE WON took office?

@PNWest Democrat wet dream killers aren't they. Again I have to ask if your guys can't defeat the opposition why do you keep re electing them and whining when they can't do anything?

Quite frankly with the same people in place who have shown they are no match for the opposition I can't see why you are optimistic. Don't you know your stuff is going to continue to be blocked?

Also I would love to read your explanation of how these bills/acts/programs would have helped to create more jobs? Pick one or two and tell us. Especially the stay unemployed cause we will keep paying you bill. AKA the Unemployment Extension Bill.

Remember excuses plus unacceptable results do NOT equal acceptable results.
  • #118

@Canoochee Had we extended unemployment benefits the people receiving them would have spent the money raising demand which would create new jobs. Simple economics.

Yeah? Someone ask those same people what they have saved up and what they owe, as far as their increase in life style is concerned? I'll bet in reality, none of those under 30 have a pot to piss in.

The DEMs are blissfully ignorant to their own policies so they wouldn't even understand the mess were in as a country, so there for they know of nothing that would upset them. Plus their getting a government hand out and don't have to contribute anything to get it. What's there to be down about

@Zazziness improper spelling doesn't disqualify my opinion. The last I check this is a damn app or website( depending how your using it) so why does it matter if I use the proper spelling of a simple word that sounds the same no matter how I spell it. If this was a Novel or something being purchased then I can see the reason but not here. Or it's it hear or heir I'm not sure. Lol

Since increasing government handouts is now considered raising the standard of living, it's no wonder Democrats think things are getting better. It's the folks who have to pay more to support the freeloaders who are pissed.

Yep, and if we weren't all expected to pay for all those wars that have been going on for the last 10 years that made a handful of people really rich, then maybe we'd still have that 2%.
