@TheJimmy - I supposed you noticed that Plaxico and Pacman wasn't in the marquee line-up on that subject...

Two ex Dallas Cowboy bleeding heart libs. Funny how revered these "Libs" we're during their careers in the NFL by all the typical bleeding heart liberal fan, in that oh so liberal bleeding heart city of Dallas. No Bama if you think I'm mockingly pointing out your silly ASSuption that everyone who is for sane gun laws is liberal, you're right !
You're alone with the most extreme whacko's who compose a lonely 9% of the citizens of the country

@martydotcom Heck, when 74% of NRA members want something done, you know the lone holdouts are the preppers.

    @marine1

Not sure good question. If not they should, especially since apparently SOP for liberals is to kiss their ass while telling them it's not their fault for what they did... it's societies for driving them to do it. Ahh, how sad.

Explain to me please, how are these feel good law makers going to get the criminals to abide by their gun control laws.

@Neo_NtheMatrix find that hard to believe, our goverment seems to think they know best about how you and i are suppose to live our life. are you saying that they could be mistaken? golly gee

What do you mean by that? Why don't you worry about your job. We got this. Like the mans opinion don't matter. Like your opinion is all righteous and all knowing. You're not God. As long, as someone is not causing you harm. You should be happy. Yes, guns is an important issue. I'm all for it. But, I understand others view points. Just like you have every right to express yours. But, know your vote isn't the only one that matters. No one should depend on anyone to speak and vote for them. It's your right, Mr. Sanders to be able to speak up. Do your thing. If you don't have a legally registered gun it's a problem.
  • #72
    !
@Brownie That's the whole point though, or did you not notice that some of the new laws being promoted in California would ban EXISTING LEGALLY REGISTERED weapons? And yeah, NFL players like all celebrities can keep their traps shut about gun control, considering many of them still roll in the same circles in which gun violence is a problem. Plaxico Burress anyone? And before you jump up my butt about using a single example, many people in favor of gun control automatically assume ANYONE who owns guns is a "gun nut".

But assault weapons are so much Fun!!!!!!! It's just inconvenient that people keep getting slaughtered with them. Playing with these toys is my RIGHT!!!!! It's the only way I can feel like a tough guy. Without my guns I'm such a loser (sniffle).

    !
@NormalFlora You know it's your right not to own guns just as it's mine to own. And yes shooting is fun just like any other sport and just like any other sport there are dangers involved. Guns are'nt toys and it's not the only way to feel like a tough guy, i really don't know anyone in my circle of friends who feels like a tough guy when they pick up a gun to target shoot, skeet shoot, trap shoot or whatever. Maybe we should ban shooting in the Olympics, i'm sure that would make you happy! You sound like the loser in this debate because you only see things one way YOURS!
  • #33
    !
@NormalFlora Ok so I read the statement you endorsed about abortion and it can be summarized as followed "if you don't want one don't get one." That should be a fair stance on these guns, if you don't want one don't get one. If you don't want an abortion don't get one. I fail to see why the logic only works at one of them. These assault weapons you speak of our responsible for a fraction of the crime since all statistics I've seen show handguns are the ones used most, even on mother jones website it showed that. You can pull the ad hominems out and make people look like they're compensating but it ony looks like your projecting. I don't own any assault weapons and don't think they should be banned, I dont smoke pot but also think it should be legal. Isn't freedom and liberty a good thing for all? Why can't we just uphold the laws we have, it's illegal to murder no matter what weapon and just about every weapon is designed to kill and/or seriously injur including knives, bow n arrows, even the guns you aren't advocating for the banning of, so why shouldn't those be banned as well as assault weapons?

If these mayors have found a way to convince criminals to start obeying the laws and put away their already illegal guns I'd love to hear it. Otherwise what we have here is mere "See how much we care?" propaganda, and zero solutions. There will always be a black market for firearms for criminals.

Why not? We use to sell them to the indians to make a buck, why not the criminals? Is this or is this not the land of opportunity?

Another one of those -' who cares what they think'? Go run , catch a football & get paid for entertaining the masses , your political opinions mean nothing. When these cry-baby , whining pro-athletes learn to police themselves & stop making headlines for guns, fights, women beating , rape , drunk driving & drugs , perhaps their words might have a little merit. Otherwise , hit the road , don't preach to anybody.

I find this ad ironic considering the number of NFL players who are arrested for gun violence each year. Perhaps these stars need to focus on their own sport first.

Gee, I bet they'll have their body guards standing by, and I bet they will be armed.
Hey, they can afford it, along with Hollywooood, and the Politicians...but, the rest
of us, unless we're criminals will be the targets. How unfair is that?!

They should have been doing this years ago and reaching out to inner city youths about joining gangs, etc. this is just more face time for them to boost their egos. if you ever watch Irvin and Sanders they are all about themselves.

I was wondering when African American representatives were going to come out on the dialogue on firearms. In all the debate on the control subject their voice has been silent while that population segment makes up a large percentage of the gun related crime victims. So far all the pro/con remarks have been mostly by white folks. I have to credit them with targeting the 'illegal' firearms that are available and not firearms as a whole.

    !
@Rocker Yes, but this is where they do not understand all the legistlation. In California there will be no grandfather clause against banned weapons, which means there will be house searches for automatic weapons if it passes.
  • #29
    !
@MadAmerican - That should ultimately be up to the folks in Cali to decide, same as gay marriage. I'm sure that KY and TN (and others) would defeat any confiscation legislation that would come up at the local levels.
  • #34
    !
@MadAmerican house searches? Really? Could you get more paranoid?

What will happen in Cali with banned clips will be if you are caught with one you get fined, possibly lose gun ownership privileges.

"It's time for our leaders to do something." You mean the people that send the same rifles they want restricted to drug cartels? The same people that rage unjustifiable wars in the middle east causing untold death and destruction? The same people that indiscriminately kill people with drones for no valid reason apart from a vague suspicion that they could be terrorists? You think those people have the right to tell people that have done nothing wrong that they can't be trusted with guns?

As counter-intuitive as it may seem, more guns is the solution; nearly every mass shooting has occurred in a gun free zone, and contrary to what most people think, there have been numerous instances where mass shootings have been prevented by armed citizenry.

It will not result in the violent crime rate going down; the UK has a higher violent crime rate than the US.

A gun ban or further gun regulation may result in lower gun homicide rates, but people will simply resort to other methods of killing - so what has really been solved?

and if you want to dispute that the banning or further regulation of guns will result in lower homicide rates, a HARVARD STUDY proves otherwise:

HAHAHAHAHAHA! OMG! how PATHETIC! their argument or so weak that they have to have NFL players endorse their agenda in a sad effort to make it more appealing.
